No the filter checks every frame and takes out epilepsy causing stuff aka your frame rate is now chopped in half along with no SLI support also for max rage ubisoft made oleg implement it and you cant turn it off
Ok so that's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of. Firstly, it's a fucking game. Unless you remove basically every visual cue, preventing epilepsy induced seizures is nearly impossible. Secondly, the reduction in framerate is essentially the deciding factor in my purchase. I'm currently at uni without my desktop, and I'm not entirely sure my laptop will run it successfully. If the reduction in framerate is truly as bad as you say, then it's a lost sale. I'm also positive I'm not the only person that may not be able to run this. Thirdly, Ubisoft sucks.
I found my landing flowchart. Reminded me that I haven't played IL2 in ages.
Tits.
I've just read another Luthier's post on Sukhoi forums and yes, this is indeed very serious. Luthier stated that this epilepsy issue has forced them to completely irreversibly screw the representation of propellers- ruining their spin rate and transparency. This is already implemented and is not reversible. Then we read here that they will have to now go through the rest of the game "fixing" things one-by-one. (Just like propellers) THe current "overall fix" does not only concern SLI- it also causes freezes/fps drops for single card users when flying low for example. Beta testers and people who played CoD at Russian gameshows say that even then the game was less jerky and better optimised . Epilepsy (as it stands now) has indeed impacted the game for ALL users. I thought it was a joke, but its pretty grave.
That should get your hopes up. Looks bloody brilliant!
oh man. I love the airframe stress sound.
Let's it just not loaded with some crap DRM, and has a server browser built in [editline]28th March 2011[/editline]
CIS 20110325March 25, 2011 EU 20110331March 31, 2011 NA 20110419April 19, 2011
God damn it. Will it be on Steam in the US sooner atleast?
Glad I checked this thread, pre-ordered CoD! I hear there's performance issues because of the anti-epillepsy post processing thing they put on because this game is causing loads of seizures or something hah!
Has anyone tried it out yet? It was released on steam today. EDIT: Steam sent me a update news saying it was when it wasn't today.
April 19th for us Americans (and by that I mean the entirety of the Americas). I'm still worried that the epilepsy filter thing is going to cripple performance on my laptop.
I really used to love this game, but it's pretty much unplayable between Steam problems and ATI's shitty fucking drivers.
About the epilepsy filter: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=19645
Pre-ordered on the spot.
Since that link got you to pre-order, I think you should totally pre-order it for me. :D
uggg oh my god come out sooner fff stop teasing me 1c i think i'm going to email oleg and tell him that i have a terminal ailment and that i will die if i do not get to play cod right now
So uhh wait, why does IL-2 need a epilepsy filter that bad?
I just found IL-2 buried in my cupboard somewhere. Should I just buy Cliffs of Dover?
So uhh wait, why does IL-2 need a epilepsy filter that bad?
I'm going to imagine its because of the propellor infront of you face and the droning engine sound.
What's EMEA?
[img_thumb]http://i.cubeupload.com/xpbFrr.png[/img_thumb] What's EMEA?
Google is a nice thing.
Europe, the Middle East and Africa, usually abbreviated to EMEA, is a regional designation used for government, marketing and business purposes.
Ubisoft has bad timing with their NA release. I'll wait till after I've beaten Portal 2 a few times to see if this is still active online, or if everyone just plays Sturmovik instead.
My video card isn't on the list, will it just not work at all? Got a 4850
Well this game runs like shit on high even on my decent rig. i7 930 2.8ghz 6gb ram Windows 7 64bit Geforce 460 1gb Something really wrong with the cities, even on low it generates most of the city so it lags to shit over cities..turning my options down makes it run slightly better but still and even I think they said, there's performance issues, everyone's getting them. Sure there's an anti epilepsy filter but even with it off, you still can't see props which sucks. Might try the multiplayer with a friend later but not sure how it's going to run with extra aircraft in the air. Shame that like a lot of games nowadays looks like instead of playing on release i'll be waiting a few weeks for a patch :| Looks so nice, runs so bad! [editline]31st March 2011[/editline]
So uhh wait, why does IL-2 need a epilepsy filter that bad?
Record number of people having seizures from playing the game than any other game released I heard.
Still playing 1946 here, probably won't get Dover for a long time.

I guess it didn't work. Well I've never really liked Ubisoft, kinda shows the state of the gaming industry when games don't even run at release.
The damage system looks awfully dumbed down.. Or is it just me?
I hope Dover isnt a pile of shit, I got it over Portal 2.
The damage system looks awfully dumbed down.. Or is it just me?
Apparently it isn't. I watched some interview where they said Sturmovik planes had about 30 different things that could get damaged, and CoD has some planes with over 300. But then again that's just a claim, I don't know for sure.
I hope Dover isnt a pile of shit, I got it over Portal 2.
I trust Valve a lot more to make a good game than I do Ubisoft.
I trust Valve a lot more to make a good game than I do Ubisoft.
But Ubisoft had nothing to do with the development of this game other than the epilepsy policy which they gave up on.
