Holy shit, Dink Smallwood. That IS rad.
And I have the permission from the author of Dink Smallwood to ship our devices with the game. How cool is that?
Can you stop giving me hype please? I already have to wait a month or so before I can order it.

Then I'll make sure not to post progress.

Fuck my hand slipped.
So I can use any old mini USB controller with that thing to play games?
Radical.

You can use any USB controller, either using MiniUSB or with an OTG Adaptor, much like this one.
If drivers are not available you can checkout the sources from our git and build them. (or nag somebody on irc until he does!)
A couple wireless controllers, HDMI / Analog and you can also use it on the tv, MARVELOUS!
So could I use a standard PS3 controller? That's good because I don't have to buy a special controller if I decide to pick one of these up.

You would need a USB OTG adaptor, a bluetooth dongle and build a custom kernel plus some other utilities for doing bluetooth connections.
Provided these are done, then yes, you would be able to use a PS3 Controller. (or via USB if there are drivers for that.)
[editline]31st March 2013[/editline]
-SNIP- That also needs bluez
There might be need for some hackery magic to get a PS3 Controller working and stuff. Probably possible.

had already assumed that this was possible 0/10 would not get feature hyped
[sp]how much do i have to bribe you to get a copy at the same time as the pledgers[/sp]
By the way, I've been wondering, what the control stick like? I always assumed that it was circle-pad-esque, but I suppose it's more likely a joystick, although it's looking a bit stubby and flat. What's it like?
Mistery update! What are these units? What are these boxes underneath em'? I'm so confused!

Like answered via PM: If you're talking about the analog, its a proper joystick yes, if you're talking about the dpad, I'd say its something like the PS1's. (posted here too in case anybody else had this question in mind.)

While the white doesn't do much for me, I still think the black version looks unbelievably sleek. And no fingerprints anywhere too I'M LOOKING AT YOU PSP.
Sorry for the bump, but is this thing coming out or what? It was supposed to come out in May, wasn't it?

The Special Edition units have all been shipped out from what I can tell. Kickstarter units appear to be in progress.
They're certainly not going as fast as I expected, the money I put aside to buy a unit is long gone at this point.
I'm really interested in this too. I was going to get the nvidia shield, but that's an overkill when this guy will fill all my needs.
Still waiting for mine, they had a last minute issue with the buttons + dpad sticking so there's a bit of a delay while they fix that.

Pretty much. I wanted a PS Vita, but that thing has no games anyway
The kickstarter units have started being shipped, and some people already have theirs in hand. Watch these emails! (If I recall correctly) Units will be stamped and dropped as batches at the post office. Any further assistance regarding software or shipping feel free to contact me and I'll see what can be done. (or join our irc channel, #gcw @ irc.freenode.net)

You'll also be able to get it from Ithic soon! http://ithic.com/en/20-gcw-zero#
My kickstarter unit came today! I made a quick unboxing post on my blog if you want to see some kind of bad pictures.
Sorry for the bump, but after all this time mine finally arrived! I probably shouldn't bother giving opinions here but I'm incredibly excited.

Please do so! I also got my final unit here. Took me a while since the SE deliveries had far more urgency than the secondary layer of devs.
[editline]26th August 2013[/editline]
Also, for these that got their GCW now, and might need assistance regarding setting up their units or finding the applications, feel free to ask me either via PM, IRC or adding me on Steam.

It was a bit of a struggle at first before I got Filezilla in order and directories and whatnot, but now things are working, and I was even lucky enough to get a white Special Edition rather than the black Kickstarter I was expecting.
Also, the little micro-to-normal-usb dongle is brilliant, that's going to be really useful.
Now I just need to decipher DOSbox.
Have two questions:
1. What will the consumer price be for us nonpledgers? I wasn't able to find it anywhere.
2. Will the stretch goals rewards be packed with the consumer version or just the pledgers' version?
Handheld OUYA. Sorry but I might reconsider after launch, but as of now, I can't justify buying a product that could possibly go the OUYA route.

This is a completely difference audience and purpose than the OUYA. It's not remotely trying to compete with the big boys, it's a very niche device.

Handheld OUYA? What?
Did you even bother reading the OP or at least taking a look around the internet before saying that? This is a niche product, it's not trying to compete with the big ones.

1- That depends on the reseller, if they invest in getting a bigger batch they might be able to sell it for lower costs, and then there's shipping and all that. Right now ithic.com lists is as 180$, with the european reseller DragonBox.de listing the SE for 180$ and the Standard for 160$.
2- I have no idea really, I'll have to ask Justin when he's online.

There's a huge difference between the GCW and the OUYA, the GCW is Linux based and STRONGLY focused towards homebrew and emulation, whereas the OUYA is Android based and focuses more on its Android marketplace and its own niche of homebrew apps.
That and I think the GCW is probably more powerful :v:
