I never said he said he was copying it, I said he said it's like minecraft.
I never said he said he was copying it, I said he said it's like minecraft.
Yes "like" doesn't mean "cloned"
I didn't say cloned either :downs:
let me get this straight it's a minecraft clone which is an infiniminer clone
Ahaha actuallly though i will check out later.
It is painfully obvious that the dev does not use dual monitors. It royally fucks them up.
I program on an IBM Thinkpad R52, which is utterly terrible and restricts what I can do in terms of development. I apologize if your dual monitors are being messed up, and I will look into it at some point, but I can't guarantee that I will know that any solution I have will work. [editline]04:41PM[/editline]
Awesome, thanks. This game, I don't know what it is, but it's really genuinely fun. [editline]07:19PM[/editline] Huh. On XP it was working OK, other than the saving thing. On Vista I click start game with the default settings and nothing happens. When I click escape, I go to the menu like normal. If I click "I" the inventory opens, but you can only see the corner, like the resolution os messed up or something. [editline]07:19PM[/editline] Basically I can't play it.
The Vista is a different computer, right? Larger monitor? Make sure you increase the resolution. That tends to be an issue. [editline]04:43PM[/editline]
Why are people so set on copying Minecraft? Notch has his own company and pretty big connections, do you really think you can compete with that? Just because you put in your thread "lulz i know its like minecraft but its different" doesn't make it different. If you really want to make something decent, think of something that hasn't been done before because starting something like this in direct competition with Notch is just suicide to be honest.
I don't want to compete with Notch, or Minecraft. Minecraft is a fantastic game and I've personally gotten at least nine people to buy it. I originally made Brick for a Latin project before Minecraft got huge, and then a few months after said project, I said 'hey, why not?' I have different things planned. The moddability is one step. The others will follow.
My vista machine (64 bit) has a 1680x1050 monitor. The only way I could get it working was to change my resolution to 800x600, open Brick, start a game, turn up the resolution full, minimize it and change the resolution to 1680x1050 again.
Up to you but honestly I wouldn't waste any money on taking the game any further if I were in your shoes.
Haven't spent any money. Don't plan on spending any money. This is a hobby for me, not a job. [editline]07:19PM[/editline]
My vista machine (64 bit) has a 1680x1050 monitor. I'm not trying to say this is a Minecraft clone or anything, but how is this any different? No offense
I'm not trying to say this is a Minecraft clone or anything, but how is this any different? In the future, multiple worlds linked by portals, additional gamemodes like a citybuilder or an RPG. In the DISTANT future, my dream is for a cloud of worlds linked my portals. Players can visit other players' worlds, easily download mods/worlds as they choose, and seamlessly shift from online to offline play.

Gonna post screeneys. Weird, my printscreen aint ingame.
you need to add an infinite skyplane or whatever, then it will be more visually appealing IMO I think you're on the right track here and I like the moddable concept, lets see where you go with this as time goes on
You can do all the shit you are saying you will do but Notch will just turn around and do it better :v:
I like it, but so far all I know how to do is pick up stuff. Someone should write a starter guide.
Could I maybe help with the making of this? I could do texturing and shit.
You can do all the shit you are saying you will do but Notch will just turn around and do it better :v:
Seriously, get the fuck out.
This is fun, but learning recipes is annoying as fuck.
^ this
And moving shit around in your inventory is tedious. I wish it had drag and drop.
And moving shit around in your inventory is tedious. I wish it had drag and drop.
You can Ctrl+Right Click to move the entire selected stack at once. [editline]11:34PM[/editline]
Gonna post screeneys. Weird, my printscreen aint ingame.
Yeah. I noticed that. It occasionally works, but most of the time doesn't. I'll look into that. [editline]11:35PM[/editline]
This is fun, but learning recipes is annoying as fuck.
I'm going to be making a readme with a lot of recipes included. The infinite skyplane is simple in itself, but that makes the ground all the more jarring. I really don't know what to do to make that work and make sense. [editline]11:38PM[/editline]
Could I maybe help with the making of this? I could do texturing and shit.
Sure. I really need new textures for the organic stuff. The leaves and grass in particular, at the moment. [editline]11:39PM[/editline]
Seriously, get the fuck out.
Thanks. It's nice to see someone who sees this as more than a Minecraft rip-off. Or, at the least, someone who gets annoyed by the people who don't.
I'd rather play Minecraft.
I'd rather play Minecraft.
Okay? I'm not asking anyone to choose between the two games.
So? I'm still choosing Minecraft over this piece of crap, you could of at least made it look good.
What has minecraft got to do with this? Absolutely nothing.
It looks exactly like minecraft.
So? You might also be played on low quality, if at all. And last time I checked, graphics don't make a game.
Looks like it can be really interesting if you do more to set it apart, I look forward to seeing updates.
