If you haven't already finished that part, you can disable the alarm and cops will stop coming.
I hate that you can't enter buildings when not on a mission. I'd love to explore the hotel for example.

i got the stamps, and when the alarm activated i just legged it through the door next to the bathroom i lockpicked earlier.
i didn't get all the stamps delivered on time, i had two left. but it seems as if you're not supposed to - the fact you fail was a part of the storyline, no? or does the next cutscene change if you manage to do it?
I did it, got a good cutscene

There's enough driving as is, I meant free-roam with content.

I have a bit of a conundrum.
I live in Australia. I wish to purchase Mafia II, except on the steam store it costs $80USD for Australians. Direct2drive.com, however, are still selling for $50USD and with a $10 off coupon code, I could technically get the game for $40.
This is where I need some assistance.
First of all, they're not selling the game to Australians (yet at least)

So I thought, perhaps I could use a proxy to purchase it? Would this work. Then another thought occurred, I've never bought a game from direct2drive but I assume you normally download the game via their website (which is undesired, I do not want to downloading such a large game with a slow proxy), but being a Steamworks compulsory game would it make me download a smaller file, then download the actual game from the steam servers, or something of a similar nature?
OR alternatively, my brother has purchased the game from steam so if I was to purchase from Direct2Drive and then take his downloaded files, would this work?
Any help is appreciated.

I was thinking also, that if Direct2Drive saves the game to your Direct2Drive online account, maybe I can purchase with a proxy, and if it wants me to download from the website then I can disable the proxy for that?
Overall I'm wanting to know if any of this will work.

Oh yeah, I had to restart that one for about 20 times... Just run from cover to cover to dodge
the molotovs and first kill the guys on the lower floor.
I was so sad when [sp] Henry died [/sp] such a bad way to go :frown:

Coming from someone who beat it
It was pretty fun, Storyline took me almost 10 hours, No free roam yet, need to do it before or after the mission before the chapter switch, Was worth the 50.

Thanks, i just watched the IGN review, he said nothing was broken, but nothing was stellar either. It was a middle of the road shooter, with fantastic storylines and cutscenes, but that the driving between points fills alot of time, and the missions break down into little but cover based shoot a guy and move on. I can see where he's coming from, but i'll have to wait to give my own verdict.
They played on PS3 too, so, it's gonna suck graphical wise etc.

It's a lot of fun, I haven't beaten it yet, but I've sunk about 5 hours in, and I've got maybe 6-8 left at this rate. It has few outright flaws that I want to bitch about, but it really needs free roam, and a few tweaks here and there.
I'm really counting on the modding community to make this worth the 50$ for me.
out of 10? 8.5 easily.

I agree, i'm hoping the enthusiasm with modding the demo will lead to an overhaul and freeroam being put in, i mean it seems easily done so far. I really hope the modding scene goes active. Thanks for your replies all of you.
