I'll just wait, it's not worth losing all my games over. :argh:
I'll just wait, it's not worth losing all my games over. :argh:
How are you going to lose all of your games and get banned for a proxy? Are you people serious? It's perfectly legit and won't get you banned. However I'm not sure if it will actually work since I believe the EU Version got tied to your account, which gets unlocked the 27th. You can try, not guaranteeing it will work. But you won't get banned and your games will be intact, 100%.

Here's a very simple way to play Mafia II early on Steam for Non-US people, without the need to use proxies or other fancy third party programs: Step 1: Pre-load the game by going into your browser of choice, and type in the url: steam://install/50130, let it finish downloading of course. Step 2: Go to the ../Steam/steamapps/common/mafia ii/pc/ folder, create a txt file named steam_appid.txt, open the file, write 50130 in there and save it. Step 3: Go back one folder (the mafia ii folder) and run launcher.exe. There you go, Achievements work and it says on Steam that you are playing the game, the only downside is that you won't be able to use the pre-order DLC until the game is "officially" released on Steam for you. My steam community page to prove it: http://steamcommunity.com/id/SozSurt

The proxy method (if it works) is safer, but the odds of getting banned for this are like 1/100. So it's your choice.
It's in the steam EULA, they say if you use any third-party programs that they will deactivate your account.
It also says in the EULA that they reserve the right to ban you for no reason. I created a file using notepad sure, but I didn't modify any of their files, I ran the game and Steam let me run it, I tried to download the game using a legal command to download it and Steam let me download it, had they locked the pre-loading workaround I wouldn't be able to do any of it, they left it all open for us to unlock it, if anything it's their fault that they didn't lock the steam://install/50130 like they usually do for other games, and it's their fault that the launcher works with just adding a simple file. It's not the first time I work around their bullshit release in different days scheme, and I'm still here. I doubt they are gonna ban the thousands of people who are going to do this. And yes, they can ban you for using a proxy, they can ban you for logging into your account from 2 different locations, let alone a proxy where the IP is probably somewhere on the other side of the world. But they won't.
It's Steams fault in the first place so I can't see how this could get us banned, I honestly can't. The most they might do is patch it.
Guys i have problem in chapter 14. [sp]When i go give money back to Bruno[/sp], i can't go inside. Where is problem? Thx a lot.

But they won't.
I'm fairly certain modifying any file retaining to the game is against the rules. However ADDING files (like CS:S mods) isn't. You can't get banned from logging into an account from two different locations as it won't let you, it would kick one of the accounts off. The proxy would show the IP being on the other side of the world, they wouldn't detect the proxy unless they starting adding proxy checks. Which I can't see them doing anyway as it would be totally pointless. In Steam's case the time difference isn't bullshit, they do it for the Servers. If the entire world had access to the download at the same time everyone would be downloading at 10kb/s and it just wouldn't work out. Overall it was 2k's decision though, but they did speak it over with VALVe I would assume. However in Gamestops Case when they release games in different times (non-steamworks games), that's a bullshit scheme. Not sure what THEY try to achieve though.
It's Steams fault in the first place so I can't see how this could get us banned, I honestly can't. The most they might do is patch it.
How is it Steam's fault? Steam is a program. You mean VALVE's fault. Which it isn't entirely. The final decision was from 2k. Also, they can't really patch proxies. Unless they blocked all proxy IPs, which would be retarded. The SteamAppID method might be able to be patched, I have no idea whatsoever... TL/DR: Modifying any file is against the EULA, adding files isn't. It isn't Steams fault for the time difference, it is partially VALVe's fault but it profits the Server Load. The final decision was by 2k.
"If the entire world had access to the download at the same time everyone would be downloading at 10kb/s and it just wouldn't work out." Not nearly enough people in some areas to justify that. Australia, for example.
Honestly I doubt the reason for the time difference is to avoid server overloading as a lot of other (more) hyped up games get released simultaneously worldwide, and 2k did the same with Borderlands. Besides, almost every country has a server, it's not like everyone is downloading from the same servers, I downloaded my copy from the French server even though I'm in Portugal, for some reason it downloads faster :v:
-snip- I was missing an update never mind :v:

Quite a few people were downloading at 50 BYTES a second when just NA was downloading (or mainly NA). I don't think anyone actually got their normal download rate. I didn't even know Australia had M2, I thought they would ban it xD
Honestly I doubt the reason for the time difference is to avoid server overloading as a lot of other (more) hyped up games get released simultaneously worldwide, and 2k did the same with Borderlands. You have a point there.
Actually the reason for the delay is because 2K want to sync up the regional releases with their retail counterparts. Dickish really.
this thread is bit slow for an game that came out yesterday i guess it will be more populer when it comes to europe
this thread is bit slow for an game that came out yesterday i guess it will be more populer when it comes to europe
I think a lot of people are still playing.

any trainer by s0beit? :)

Not nearly enough people in some areas to justify that. Australia, for example.
Agree. I mean, steam is massive, 2 million people online at the time, do they honestly think they don't have localised servers? It's just a crock of shit, the only reason its delayed for EU is because of console version release dates. It's fair enough but I don't know why companies still do this.. do they want the US to hype it? Or do they do it to test the response? Still, 2 days isnt exactly enough time to change anything, if you make a game and it gets canned in the US the same is going to happen in Europe, so i don't see any actual reason why release dates are any different for countries. Someone explain?
any trainer by s0beit? :)
S0beit's LUA Trainer V4 works on the full game AND the demo (might need to change the exe capitalization in the config.xml file). However it has been said to corrupt the save game files on the Full Game if it causes you to crash... So I would wait for a v5 to fix this.
Modders get it together, only thing for the full version is s0beit's trainer so far. :(

someone make the 1911 more accurate or something
someone make the 1911 more accurate or something
??? the games set in 1940-57 ?
someone make the 1911 more accurate or something
I liked the somewhat inaccurate weapons, it was a lot better then GTA IV where you seem to have near perfect accuracy at medium ranges and the bots can't hit the side of a car from 20' away.
??? the games set in 1940-57 ?
you're kidding right
