game.game:GetActivePlayer():SetDemigod(true)
actually try this one instead, since demigod makes you lose health but you don't die. This makes it so you don't lose any health.
game.game:GetActivePlayer().invulnerability = true
i think mafia 2 has died
Lets take a minute to mourn it in silence.

actually no fuck that shit it doesnt deserve a moments silence
[sp]Joe dies, I am never buying a 2k work again. He was the only character that developed throughout the story, and he was funny. I loved him. When Leo said, 'Sorry kid, but Joe wasn't part of our deal', I wanted to fucking kill Leo.[/sp]
Vito looked like he wanted to too, honestly if they tell what happens I'll be pretty pissed. The ending really made it the inception of games story-wise this year

No, there are none.

PROFIT!
you can use lua commands to remove hats from any suits

Except that Inception had a good ending and was worth the money, Mafia 2 not.
Hey,
I've decided to search for map glitches since the game did not offer any valuable content after story ending. I saw Vinci's mansion and it was awesome. So here is my first reserach. Enjoy the close view of the dam beyond planetarium. As you can see there is an area without foliage. If you step in - you will fall into blue hell. Easy to recognize as bullets leave no marks on textures without collision detection. Great place for acquiring speed record BTW ;)
You are also able to re-visit that greasers' factory while not on mission, in 'legit' way. There is no invisible wall which blocks the way through the fence next to the gate. Sadly, there is no way out.
Map-outrunners, fuck yeah! Feel free to contribute ;)

I'm researching on how to change your player model with lua. I found the string for it, but I can't figure out how to activate it to change into different outfits. Quite confusing.
I'd really like them to have the map more open...
You see a couple of roads on the map, but you cant use them :S Thats just bullshit. And like your picture show... that looks awesome. They should have putten that into the damn game!
you guys know a tutorial in how to use Hyperz' mafia 2 console?

That reminds me that Mafia 1 actually had country scenery, while Mafia 2 doesn't.

:saddowns: that would be cooler if they made the boundaries out farther so you can drive on the dam. Even better would be driving off of it.
seeing how much they cut off this game is just depressing :frown:
It could have been fantastic, now it's nothing more than forgettable
biggest disappointment of 2010 so far

Agree :(
Oh. Dang. My friend was waiting for this so much...
such a delusion. No wait, since i am italian i will say it in italian :
MA CHE DELUSIONE
My thoughts on the ending are [sp]it was cut off to make it uncertain so you could draw your own conclusions. What I got from it, particularly the look into Vito's eyes after what Leo says was that Vito was as furious as the player about what they were doing to his best friend who had just saved his life and wanted to kill Leo right there, but knew that Leo had saved him from a worse fate of every criminal in the city wanting him dead and that if he did anything to Leo then and there, the others in the car would kill him in an instant. He also still felt like Leo was a "father" to him to an extent and had learnt from all the death - and things like what El Greco had told them and what he'd said himself about experience in the war - that many people wouldn't make it. So either he accepted Joe's fate as he had had to accept the fates of Marty and Henry for his own survival. Or he acted upon it later. Or Leo didn't uphold the deal. Or indeed he did act upon it then and there and succeeded, or failed.
Not quite the same as the first game's summary of the rest of Tommy's life and death... But sad in it's own way.[/sp]
I wasn't expecting it to be the end though. It was either going to be there or there would be another whole section - but a game these days exceeding 10 hours is already 'long'.
our CPUs aren't really as fast as consoles'. Thus GTA4 runs like shit.
Are you kidding me? An Intel I7 920 @ 4GHZ is a whole lot faster than any console CPU. Its got 4 cores with 2 threads each which makes up 8 cores. This kicks any consoles CPU ass.

This is pretty much true. The gap between the two is significantly lessened when you realize Xbox OS is designed purely to run that 3 Core CPU. It'll be super efficient. And the devs have had 5 years now to learn how to utilize the CPU to perfection.
I would wager a i7 @ 4Ghz as still having the performance advantage however. But it's not all about the CPU speed.
The first person lua code crashes my game if I get out of the vehicle.
Is there a way to bind the lua buttons on this game with the console? I'd like to bind both this and the supercharger one, but pressing up is getting a bit annoying.
Wanted poster #63 is the most annoying thing to get in the game by far, took me 2 1/2 hours.
But it's not all about the CPU speed.
So a 2.66GHZ core I7 would run GTA4 just as smooth as a 4GHZ Core I7 right?
GTA IV ran shit because it was optimized badly. That's Rockstar's fault. Mafia 2 is optimized a little better.

Nevermind him, he makes moot points.
like:
It's still super dependent on your CPU.
I have an i7 920 and I clocked it to 3.8GHz, just to see if GTA IV would run any bit smoother on version 1.0
It did NOT, it ran laggy and it didn't even use up 50% of my processing power, alot of it wasn't used, due to bad code optimizations (aka none at all for quad cores, and a bucket load for the triple core 360 CPU).
That being said, Mafia 2 runs way smoother, and if the story was as it should have been:
[sp]- A way longer stay in Europe, a mission where you actually got injured instead of just a 2 years later, oh wow, Vito got injured, figure out how and what, we could be arsed to write a script for it.
- 6 year stay in jail which felt like a few months, and no real bonding with Leo, just a short intermezzo showing you in his 'suite'
- More missions with Derek, Joe even says at a point, 'you should still keep doing jobs for Derek'
- The cool car robery mission as shown in an early demonstration
- More weapons, like a good sniper (to be used in Europe mostly)
- Maybe a nice DLC with the story of what Joe did when Vito was in Europe.
- More script for the main game, less of this Jimmy DLC crap, which probably was the reason the script got trimmed to shits.
Coz DLC == extra cash[/sp]
This game would've been able to set the standard on linear storybased games for years to come.
Just as Mafia 1 did.
The code is mostly optimized for triple core Xbox 360, and it's GPU.
They fixed some of it through patches, v1.0 ran like shit, but v1.4 worked fine.
It's the other way around for me.
GTA IV 1.0 ran fine for me at highest settings, a steady 60FPS.
GTA IV Patch 5 killed my FPS down to 45.
GTA IV Patch 7 killed my FPS down to 25...
Really weird. I need to play at medium settings now to get 60 FPS.
I don't mind too much though, GTA IV is still beautiful.
I really want Red Dead Redemption on PC :S
If you're using lua and want to add specific weapons, here's a list of what all the weapon numbers are:
1 = fists
2 = .38
3 = mauser
4 = colt .45
5 = semi-automatic colt .45
6 = magnum revolver
7 = grenade
8 = shotgun
9 = grease gun
10 = mp40
11 = tommy gun w/ drum mag
12 = tommy gun
13 = ppsh-41
14 = mg42 or whatever, that big machine gun
15 = m1 garand
16 = potato masher grenade
17 = kar 98 rifle
18 = weird testing weapon
and
game.game:GetActivePlayer():InventoryAddWeapon(*, 5000)
is the string, by s0beit I believe.
nevermind

Thanks.
Gunna just add this to the autoexec.lua with all the weapons that work and look normal.

Yeah it's just so disappointing because it's not that we expected this game to be magnificent and it didn't turn out that way....it's that we expected it to be magnificent, and it was magnificent, but it was all cut. Like seriously, they should have taken another 6 months to polish this game to be the stuff of legends.
They didn't need an extra 6 months.
What they needed was to actually use the decade they've been working on it to produce something amazing. I understand they built the engine from scratch. Sure, cut 5 years off of development for that. There is still plenty of time.
Obviously, the writing could have been so much better. More depth, more character development, although this game has better development than others, even in its butchered state. Content that they were planning to make, should have been made. If you've already halfway finished a feature, you don't just cut it out. Obviously, it was important, so finish it. They had more than more than enough time.
Shit, I could write a better script than this. Actually, now that I think about it the writers probably didn't do a shitty job. The mappers, modelers, everything else is good. The writing was probably great after a polished draft. Obviously, they meant for much more story to be in the game than what was actually in the game.
So who was responsible for cutting out content? If I was a writer for this game I would be furious. You don't just butcher a script and take chunks out and expect it to be just as good. You just don't do that.
