cue phantom's stories of 2k devs being greedy and eating babies et cetera et cetera
cue zeldar's stories of defending 2k's unfinished product
I'm not defending it. It's just what you do. :smug:
I'm not defending it. It's just what you do. :smug:
Sorry, last time I checked a lot of people noticed that the game was unfinished. I don't see why you have a problem with me individually. Lay off.
not defending just noticed that any time you mention 2K and dev in the same sentence you usually mention greedy as well so
not defending just noticed that any time you mention 2K and dev in the same sentence you usually mention greedy as well so
Actually, I blame the 2k Games (publisher) for how this game turned out. The developers developed a brilliant game, from what I can tell it was the publishers that decided to cut the content out.
Ridge you are poopy in the brain parts.
I laughed at this way harder than someone older than 10 should have.
I'm surprised so many people were disappointed by this, probably because it was overhyped and everyone was expecting awesome sandbox but basically got a linear game instead. I got it cause I heard all the hype around it and never played the first one and I loved it
People like me are disappointed because they cut major gameplay elements that appeared to be fully functional in gameplay demonstrations released a month or so before.

I was dissapointed because they cut like a quarter of the missions and gameplay out for apparently no reason. There's even evidence of some of the stuff they took out and it would have added a great deal to the game. Mafia 2 isn't bad, I enjoyed it and am enjoying it, but it could have been so much better if they had only kept some of the stuff in.
Because the first one was a billion times better than this one.
Indeed.
Because the first one was a billion times better than this one.
Would you care to exemplify?
A lot of people wait for reviews before they buy games. Right now I'm thinking a lot of people waited for reviews, saw 2k didn't give a shit, and pirated the hell out of the game. I'm sure a lot of them were just dirty pirates that don't like to support the developers, but enough of them just pirated it because 2k fucked up. Just my two cents, I don't condone piracy or anything. It's good to support the developers. This game isn't worth 50$ though, I recommend waiting for it to go down in price or rent it. :p TL:DR, I feel 2k would have made more money if they included all of the content in the first place instead of selling it for 50$ and then selling the rest of the content as DLC. They could have at least ended the game properly, removed all traces of the extra content from the game files, and THEN released it as DLC for 5$ a pop. That would have been the smart way if they just HAD to be cheap.
It's gonna be a little hard to rent it when this game (for the last time) needs to be registered to a Steam account.
Why does everyone assume that the game is finished when it's released, the game is finished months before it ships it, the image has to be printed on the discs, sent to the stores, uploaded on steam, etc.
Yeah, and thats why there is a completely unknown 4th guy on the PS3 Cover: [img_thumb]http://www.play3.de/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/mafia2-boxart-packshot-cover-ps3-eu.jpg[/img_thumb]

Also there is a multiplayer mod in the making :woop:
Also there is a multiplayer mod in the making :woop:
Call me when they actually release something. They said the same thing about JC2 too.
Probably it would be a dlc
* Camera pans to give a view of the city * Wait, seriously, this can`t be true *credits begin to roll* fuuuuu
Anybody that has the real retail version of Mafia 2 like me, download this: http://mafia-empire.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=20.0;attach=19 Copy the steam_api.dll into your Mafia 2/PC folder and replace the old steam_api.dll (backup your original first). It fools the game into thinking you are running it through steam when you arn't, allowing mods to work. s0beit linked this a few pages back i think.
Messing with steam .dll's is never a good idea.
As long as the game doesn't use VAC, Steam doesn't care because it isn't informed that the game is running at all. It worked fine with JC2 and nobody had problems.
Just finished it, ending annoyed me. Although I have some questions, if any handsome young bloke wants to help me. My friend keeps mentioning his favorite car is a jeep, how do I obtain said jeep?
Just finished it, ending annoyed me. Although I have some questions, if any handsome young bloke wants to help me. My friend keeps mentioning his favorite car is a jeep, how do I obtain said jeep?
War Hero DLC.
The list you see going around here that is supposedly the missions cut off is bullshit. If you look closer you can clearly see most of em are the names of quicksaves and cutscenes, and they are in the game. But i agree mafia 2 was light on content, but still pisses me off when people get mad looking at the list and thinking they cut all that.
So is anyone else going to buy the DLC?
So is anyone else going to buy the DLC?
Probably, it seems action packed
So is anyone else going to buy the DLC?
No way.
How much DLC is there already for the game? Is it free, and are there are only new cars in the DLC?
