ITT: People expect a work-in-progress to work all the time.
No, they expect the bugfix patches to not break more than they fix.
ITT: People expect a work-in-progress to work all the time.
No, they expect a bugless beta. :colbert:
So, uh, why are people defending the fact that it's a beta. It really isn't, the title is meaningless. There was no real content bridge between alpha and beta. There was almost no difference between the two, and the whole jump was pointless. The game wasn't any closer to completion, it's pointless. He says that the release will be in November, but I'll assume it's just an excuse to raise the price, as I doubt anything will have changed significantly. This game had so much potential, but it's clearly being misused.
This game had so much potential, but it's clearly being misused.
For fuck's sake, you people act like he's shitting on the code. He had a 100 some odd line change log, and you're expecting it to be some sort of perfect divine game. You can't have your cake and eat it too, you demanding fucks. Any thing that has so many issues fixed will undoubtedly have new issues, that's the nature of this sort of thing. Not pointed directly at you, Zeos. Your post just happened to be there.
ITT: People expect a work-in-progress to work all the time.
no, people expect a game in development to be developed on considering only 5 months from now it'll be released
So what if it's in beta? You'd think each update would be a step forward, not backward. (In terms of bugs)
So what if it's in beta? You'd think each update would be a step forward, not backward. (In terms of bugs)
It is. It fixed more bugs than it caused.
13 pages in and this hasn't been posted yet. I haven't found a single bug in 1.6.3 though. Strange.
It is. It fixed more bugs than it caused.
But the bugs that it did cause were more severe than the ones it fixed.
Good to know the work ethics of Mojang is through the roof while they have decimated the game 2,322,208 people have spent money to help develop.
This sucks, I really wanted to play around with the new stuff in SMP, and it's unplayable.
But the bugs that it did cause were more severe than the ones it fixed.
It's easier to fix a few big bugs than a seemingly endless swarm of small ones.
ITT: People expect a work-in-progress to work all the time.
There's a difference between nightlies and stable releases. Nobody complains if the development version which is updated daily or weekly stops working or introduces bugs, but one can expect the "stable" release (in this case 1.6, 1.6.1, 1.6.2, 1.6.3 and 1.6.4) to be free of obvious game breaking bugs. I don't think anyone would have complained if the occasional ghost block appeared. But when bugs like SMP not working at all happen one has every right to question the Mojang's QA process.
Don't know what any of you are complaining about, i haven't encountered a single bug.
Don't know what any of you are complaining about, i haven't encountered a single bug.
So in minecraft, you just float around in the void meaninglessly? You know that there's blocks in the game that you can break with tools that disappear after the first try and there's darkness that can't be illuminated with torches.
Wasn't he suppose to be doing a test client for such a purpose?
Don't know what any of you are complaining about, i haven't encountered a single bug.
Have a full fresh diamond tool loadout, die, pick them up, watch them break after one use and you will understand my frustration.
I haven't found a single bug in 1.6.3 though. Strange.
You know there's a version after that, right?
what's the difference between Notch and an exterminator exterminators look for bugs
Hey, I got an idea. Why don't you all stop crying and go work on a mod that fixes all the bugs. So instead you'll give me boxes and keep crying.
ITT: People expect a work-in-progress to work all the time.
i expect a work in progress that I paid 23 dollars for to not be a broken piece of shit [editline]27th May 2011[/editline] which btw it wasn't when I paid for it [editline]27th May 2011[/editline] I also expect the developer of said broken piece of shit to do everything in his power to fix what the latest update broke as fast as possible
Well, okay. Based on what the update of 1.6.4 said, I doubted that Notch would have considered testing it, but now that he discovered why you should test every single update before it comes out, this should never happen again. Although this type of programming learning should have been discovered long ago. Didn't he code several other java games within a few days? Recoding Megaman especially? I guess he thought too optimistically on this one. Yeah, if someone makes a mod to fix this glitch, if Notch is being too slow, I'd be happy about it.
Don't know what any of you are complaining about, i haven't encountered a single bug.
You will. Soon enough you will.
Hey, I got an idea. Why don't you all stop crying and go work on a mod that fixes all the bugs.
It's not our job as customers to work on the product, that is the developer's job.
You will. Soon enough you will.
Actually, I've been playing SSP yesterday for quite a while. The framerate was dodgy at times but the game was entirely playable.
It's not our job as customers to work on the product, that is the developer's job.
You imply that he didn't put out four patches afterwards to try and fix the bugs. [editline]27th May 2011[/editline]
You'd think that this would be a lesson for Notch, but evidently he doesn't give a damn if he lets down over two million customers.
If my customers acted like this, I wouldn't give a fuck about them either.
If my customers acted like this, I wouldn't give a fuck about them either.
This is not unwarranted behavior at all.

If Minecraft wasn't sloppily coded he wouldn't have to hack his way around, causing more bugs than it fixes.
This is not unwarranted behavior at all.
Whether or not bitching is warranted, it's still bitching.
