What the fuck Notch.
What the FUCK.
Fuck off Notch.
How dare he have a life.
Why don't you just leave the fucking thread already, we are all pissed that the game is not working. But we're more pissed off that Notch is almost BLATANTLY ignoring it! It's like he doesn't even care! If it were Garry and involved Gmod, there would be a fix within a few hours because Garry is dedicated to his playerbase.
I believe I addressed your point here:
The Alpha/Beta terminology is void within' Notch and Minecraft. It just doesn't really mean the same thing. Stop using it as an argument.
I believe I addressed your point here:
He didn't look at the list of bugs on the community wiki until a few months ago. He had no idea about how many bugs people had actually found.
This beta does not correspond in any shape or form to the way a usual beta happens.

I'd disagree with you, but I'm afraid Garry might break into my house at night and beat me with a golf club.
Why "What the fuck"? Exactly?
He released 1.6, which was riddled with bugs, and then released four hotfixes that didn't really do anything within a couple hours, and then completely ignores the fact that Minecraft is broken at best.
The Alpha/Beta terminology is void within' Notch and Minecraft. It just doesn't really mean the same thing. Stop using it as an argument.
Stop using "your argument is invalid because it is" as an argument and give an actual reason.
I don't think Notch was even aware of these 'till people were getting angry at him on the last tweet.
Aack, sorry! I wasn't aware the bugs were that severe! =( I feel horrible now. I'll head in to the office tomorrow.
Now with Notch admitting to playing Terraria for a long ass time we could either assume:
A) Now he will work on fixing Minecraft
B) Continue to be a lazy fuck and not do anything
Okay so NOW he fucking realizes that everything is fucked after literally a thousand tweets on his Twitter page about the game being severely broken.
Stop using "your argument is invalid because it is" as an argument and give an actual reason.
I gave a reason.
Open betas serve the dual purpose of demonstrating a product to potential consumers, and testing among an extremely wide user base likely to bring to light obscure errors that a much smaller testing team may not find.
He didn't even try.
And something interesting:
The users of a beta version are called beta testers. They are usually customers or prospective customers of the organization that develops the software, willing to test the software without charge, often receiving the final software free of charge or for a reduced price.

I gave a reason.
Your reason appeared to be "your argument is invalid because it is!" I asked you to explain, and you really didn't.
He didn't even try.
And something interesting:
Paramud, here it is. We aren't beta testers; we payed for the game. Beta testers don't pay to test.
Your reason appeared to be "your argument is invalid because it is!" I asked you to explain, and you really didn't.
"Beta is the software development phase following alpha. It generally begins when the software is feature complete. The focus of beta testing is reducing impacts to users, often incorporating usability testing."
Beta testers also have ways to tell the developers that things are wrong with the game.
With the last few tweets Notch gave it is obvious that there is no infrastructure to report bugs to Notch and that we are not beta testers.
Paramud, here it is. We aren't beta testers; we payed for the game. Beta testers don't pay to test.
You preordered the game and got to play the beta version because of it. You didn't pay specifically to beta test, no.
No SMP this weekend apparently, Mojang's gaming Friday seems to have priority.
Creative is Creative, Classic is Classic, et cetera. The Beta that everyone plays is the beta version of Survival Mode. Which is why multiplayer is abbreviated as SMP, because it's Survival Multiplayer.
Notch fucked up because he released an instable build to a few million customers. There's no denying that. But let's all just suck it up and wait for next week.
What the fuck Notch.
What the FUCK.
so he leaves his own game completely broken and goes to play a 2d sidescroller game from the exact same "blocky sandbox" genre as minecraft that ISN'T completely broken
slow clap
wait, looks like I'm late, seems the problem will be resolved
Really Notch? It took you 24 FUCKING HOURS TO REALIZE THE GAME WAS THIS FUCKED UP?
I've added Paramud to my ignore list. Feels good... :smug:
Sometimes you just can't argue with idiots. Anyways, I'm losing patience with Notch. I really hope the next update fixes this shit.

I wouldn't particularly say that it's a fuckup, just that people don't seem to understand that it's not supposed to be taken as a finished build. He might test things, but bugs will always get through.

Oh the irony. In fact, I have a video up on youtube for this very type of thing.

Time to play some classic. :v:

Half of the bugs are things you can see within minutes of playing, this is not bugs getting through, this is lack of testing.
fucking buggy quote
Just had to come in and say Para is an idiot.
bye.
Rejoice, he finally found out.

You forgot to
there. Most of the bugs that I've encountered only seem to be happened on new chunks. I haven't had any lighting issues or invisible chunks remotely near my spawn, so it's possible that he tested it on a save from before, and never saw those. The server crashing issue is pretty big, though, so I'll give you that one.
And as for the breakable tool things, that'll only happen when you drop your tools, and I don't see how foreseeable that'd be with a small amount of testing.
And those are the only bugs I've encountered at all.

Someone post the Version history link on his twitter.

What kind of moron tests new features on an old world? He'd have to generate a new world to try out the new grass he made anyway.
On a completely comedic note, when you typed
it cause my quote to close halfway, leaving it fucked up.
So. I noticed that the game is broken. Nobody else seemed to notice for a while. Does this mean that there are working SMP servers anywhere?
[editline]27th May 2011[/editline]
Oh good, Notch is aware. Well, problem solved.

If I was testing, I'd be doing that, so I can't exactly blame him. Although, I'm not a developer.
And I'd be hiring more people with all the money I'd be raking in if I was Notch
