Oh good, only took him a day to notice. Seems he's willing to work on Saturday to fix them so that's nice.
Now you're basing your argument on your own anecdotal evidence and experience even though there's a whole list of bugs that can be reproduced.
I wasn't saying that there were no bugs, just that it's possible they weren't noticed if testing wasn't extensive.
Which brings me back to my "it's a beta" point. There's no better testing then having eight and a half million testers working for free.
Creative is Creative, Classic is Classic, et cetera. The Beta that everyone plays is the beta version of Survival Mode. Which is why multiplayer is abbreviated as SMP, because it's Survival Multiplayer.
Creative and classic are the same thing. Indev introduced the Survival aspect. So, this game has been in development for about a year. He should know how NOT to make game-breaking bugs by now.

Except when he doesn't listen to the feedback of the players.

If he has 2 million people testing the game why exactly are there so many game breaking bugs and why aren't they fixed as soon as possible?
He's putting in worse bugs than he's fixing, which is the complete opposite of what a beta is for.
Hey guys shut up for a second.
I keep seeing posts on the MC forums about how they don't see any problems with 1.6 they've had lots of fun with it online.
This may or may not be true, but are there actually any working servers at all? I haven't been able to connect to any servers since the update.
After 24 hours
And four patches that not only didn't work, but literally broke the game mostly.
After 24 hours
Oh no, not one day. How will we live without our instant gratification.
He has a life, you know? Just be glad he didn't spend a week not acknowledging it.
Oh wow, people everywhere are shouting that he broke the game, notch: "Just played Terraria the whole day, oh, did someone say the game is broken? I didn't hear it."

Why does it cost $15 then?
He's putting in worse bugs than he's fixing, which is the complete opposite of what a beta is for.
He put out over a hundred changes in a single patch. Of course there are going to be new fucking bugs.
Why does it cost $15 then?
Because you're paying for the game, not the beta. If you were paying for the beta, you'd have to pay again once it was released.
Which would be completely unacceptable.

He is the founder of a professional company now, he released a buggy update, then instead of fixing it went off to a party on thursday and took the entire day off friday.
He never looked at any feedback till people spammed him with twitter messages.
It isn't just this 1 day of non-updates its the entire way Mojang is run now.

No, it's worse than that. Those half a million 'testers' are the customers that made him rich. If he wants to test possibly broken versions he should release test versions separately, instead of releasing them to the general crowd whom then end up with a broken game. It's how any software developer would do it.
People paid before hand for a lower price so they wouldn't have to pay the full price for the game when its released. As a result of this if you paid beforehand you were let into the beta where the game is tweaked and features are added and bugs fixed. Of COURSE the beta is going to have bugs in it thats what the fucking beta is for. The whole purpose of this beta is so that he can get all the release features and polish out all the bugs before the final release. Beta testers complaining to the company (and in some extreme cases of stupidity actually quitting the unreleased game) about bugs during the bug finding and fixing phase of development is so fucking stupid I can't even imagine what you people are thinking.
Minecraft IS NOT RELEASED. 1.6 Caused a lot of bugs no shit Sherlock but the purpose is to report these bugs to Notch and his folk so that they get fixed before the game is released. Beta testing for games isn't meant to be the final enjoyable product and that has never been the case. People are treating the Beta like its the final release and saying "Durr notch is fat hes not gonna fix anything before the release" Is legendarily retarded of you.
If say notch released an update after the games full release to the full price paying customers and it had a ton of bugs like this and made the game unplayable yeah by all means stage a naked riot on his forums. Picture ANY other game other then Minecraft's beta testing phase and picture people complaining about it the way they do with Minecraft and you'll see how fucking stupid all of this is.

I can understand there being bugs after the initial patch, after all, he did patch so many bugs. But after a patch that didn't work, a patch for the patch that STILL didn't work, a patch for the patch for the patch that didn't work, and a fourth patch that was supposed to fix one thing (which it didn't), one would think that he'd eventually fix the crippling bugs.
This has been the only thread posted in for ten minutes. Well, it's not like we can play Minecraft right now.

None of us said anything about Notch not fixing the bugs before release. We said that after four goddamn patches he should've fixed the crippling problem (SMP basically broken) by now. After all, the fourth patch was supposed to fix the SMP bugs, and it still didn't do that AND introduced at least ten new bugs.

Notch decided on this way of developing the game and one of the downsides is that your customers expect stable versions. A few bugs we can live with, but game breaking bugs like the current SMP chunks not loading is not something he should've left unfixed for over a day.
So fuck the "it's a beta" (bold for extra effect!) argument when it comes to game breaking bugs.

Yeah, betas should be perfect.
I just had a deja vu :v:
There was the same amount of rage in 1.4 update thread iirc.

Okay, that's all fine and good, but why didn't he do some thorough testing before he released the patches?

Besides that, I don't know. I'm not Notch.

"I'm ignoring your argument and posting the same thing again"
Game breaking bugs on a final release = Not acceptable.
Game breaking bugs on a beta = Fixing it so that the final game isn't effected. Nobody cares if you can't play the beta unfortunately the beta isn't there to entertain you its there for you to test the game with so that the final release is stable and enjoyable.
Ahem
Besides that, I don't know. I'm not Notch.
Then why did he get people to test it in the IRC if we're all his beta testers then? Why didn't they pick up on all the game breaking bugs?
Paramud, tell us where we can submit our testing reports, because I would really like to know.
