Oh god damn it do I really have to say it again
say it? don't you mean quote yourself on it? because that's all you do in this argument
Not if you paid for it before it was finished, and were never promised completely smooth sailing.
http://www.minecraft.net/prepurchase.jsp "Please note that when you buy the game, you're paying for the game as it is right now! You will also get the full version of Minecraft when it is released." According to this when you buy it you're getting the version that it's currently at. If a new patch breaks the game you're no longer playing the game you paid for as it was.
say it? don't you mean quote yourself on it? because that's all you do in this argument
Oh, so you do know what my response is, you're just going to ignore it either way.
My only expectation is a working, playable game. Alas...
I like how during the "alpha test" on the development cycle paramud thinks minecraft follows that minecraft actually worked better after most updates.
You guys don't seem to realize that the time was more than 8PM in Sweden when he posted about Terraria.
My only expectation is a working, playable game. Alas...
You might very well get that tomorrow, and it'll only've been two days. [editline]27th May 2011[/editline]
I like how during the "alpha test" on the development cycle paramud thinks minecraft follows that minecraft actually worked better after most updates.
Because it was simpler. It's harder to break a simple machine than it is to break a complex machine. That's just my guess, anyways.

[editline]27th May 2011[/editline] Well then, if you didn't pay for it as it is, you shouldn't have any expectations, should you?
Well, we don't ignore you, we just think that us telling you what's happening and you basically going "NO NO NO NO NO NO" is stupid. If you came with logical arguments that weren't "its a beta guys its a beta guys", maybe then we would actually have a good debate, not an argument with you. You're arguing like a spoiled child. You can't say one thing, and say the same thing when somebody comes up with a counter-argument for what you said.
If you came with logical arguments that weren't "its a beta guys its a beta guys", maybe then we would actually have a good debate, not an argument with you.
My entire point is that the reason why it's acceptable is because it's a beta. If I wasn't arguing that, I wouldn't be arguing.
You're arguing like a spoiled child. You can't say one thing, and say the same thing when somebody comes up with a counter-argument for what you said.
I find this funny because it feels exactly the way I feel about people arguing against me here. You have pretty much exactly summed up how I feel about the fucking idiots in this thread.
To all people saying "hurr this is a beta, he can break whatever he wants", don't forget Minecraft already has a userbase of 2 million people. You can't just go "oh sorry I broke the game" whenever he wants to do so. Don't forget if you all say it's beta, beta should be kind of stable, with just some minor fixes, which has definitely not been the case with almost all of the beta updates.
My entire point is that the reason why it's acceptable is because it's a beta. If I wasn't arguing that, I wouldn't be arguing. Also, as Egonny said, you can't just make a game-breaking update to two million people and just say "whoops" after a day.
You can't just go "oh sorry I broke the game" whenever he wants to do so.
Actually I'm pretty sure the reason he can do that is because it's his game, not because it's a beta.
Don't forget if you all say it's beta, beta should be kind of stable, with just some minor fixes, which has definitely not been the case with almost all of the beta updates.
And the beta has been kind of stable so far. After such a large update, you have to expect bugs, some of which will be severe.
Yeah, we're the idiots. We have expectations, how dare we!
Your expectations are too high. I wasn't speaking about you specifically, but rather the people I started arguing with in the first place, who didn't seem capable of grasping the idea of what the fuck a beta is.
Actually I'm pretty sure the reason he can do that is because it's his game, not because it's a beta.
And I don't have to ever buy a game from Mojang again because of how shitty the company is run.
So uh, where's my £10?
And I don't have to ever buy a game from Mojang again because of how shitty the company is run.
Then as I've said before, stop playing. If you dislike the game, or how the company is wrong, there is nothing forcing you to stay here. Go on. Run, little rabbit, you're free.
Actually I'm pretty sure the reason he can do that is because it's his game, not because it's a beta. And the beta has been kind of stable so far. I want a working game, that's why I paid ten dollars when it was still in classic. The game has been working well so far. It worked well in Indev, Infdev, Alpha, and Beta up until this point.
I'm entitled to a working product that I paid for you ignorant twat!
Your paid product isn't released yet. You can wait until its released or help by testing it. Tests prove :Shits broke Hopeful action: fix it by the time the games out. I'm feeling a bit of Deja vu in here.
just like north korea is a democratic country right? nothing about the minecraft "beta" matches the definition of a beta. therefore, it's not a fucking beta, regardless of whatever money-whoring title notch slaps on it.
Wow you are retarded lmao. Its a beta what are you even talking about. "I say its not a beta so it should be fixed!"
nothing about the minecraft "beta" matches the definition of a beta. therefore, it's not a fucking beta, regardless of whatever money-whoring title notch slaps on it.
Pray tell us, how is it not a beta?
Still seems like a pretty lazy "fix".
I thought it was funny.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#Beta
I bet the next response against this will be the time old "oh but Minecraft is different and beta doesn't have to mean what it means"
My god this thread is moving fast.
How are my expectations too high? I want a working game, that's why I paid ten dollars when it was still in classic. The game has been working well so far. It worked well in Indev, Infdev, Alpha, and Beta up until this point.
You said it yourself, it worked well up until this point. What makes you think Notch won't fix it? According to you, there's been alot more updates that didn't break the game than actually did. Just wait a few more days before you all continue to bitch about this. Surely you can go a few days without Minecraft?
My god this thread is moving fast.
yeah well i'd be playing minecraft right now on my favorite server but i guess i can't.
Wow you are retarded lmao. Its a beta what are you even talking about. "I say its not a beta so it should be fixed!"
Well, let's go through this together, okay? Indev was the first instance of survival, so that should be Alpha, right? Then Infdev would be the Beta, Alpha and Beta are post-Beta, they're just titles. He could call it "Epsilon" right now and it would be okay because he can call it whatever.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#Beta

The testers report any bugs that they find, and sometimes suggest additional features they think should be available in the final version.
Suggesting that there is not a content freeze, but if anything a content slow-down. Which we have, no doubt, seen.
I bet the next response against this will be the time old "oh but Minecraft is different and beta doesn't have to mean what it means"
IT'AS AU BETA!!!
