What is funnier still is the notch defense force replying to that: "You shouldn't have to head in tomorrow. You've done great work so far! Get to the bugs on Monday and enjoy the weekend :)" "Why come in Saturday? Go have a fun weekend. I don't mind if my beta has some bugs until early next week." "for doing this you are our hero. We love your game and your ideas. We = 2.3 million people" Notch is like some kind of religious deity. It is really strange :S
A while ago I had tweeted something about notch being a joke, and he replied with a (shitty) joke. The next 2 days was a rein on mc white knights yelling at me.
I feel that Notch has pumped too much shit into this game that Java isn't really able to cope with it. The further the development progresses, the more trouble Notch is having to keep his game stable at least. It's a retarded idea but I do believe that recoding the entire game in, let's say C++, would be (in the end) a better solution. I think it's safe to presume that Notch made quite some money in the meantime so why doesn't he hire a bunch of decent coders to get the job done since Notch himself isn't really up to it, I believe.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#Beta

It generally begins when the software is feature complete.

generally
whoops i skipped a page.
notch Markus Persson Chunks loading way too slow in SMP at spawn, items breaking after a single use, lighting updates not happening.. are those the big bugs?
Nah, fix something really obscure instead like the new tall grass being slightly off the block and leave it at that.
This game could've had such a freaking huge potential it's not even possible to imagine what kind of stuff there would be. Too bad it's in the wrong hands.
it always amazes me how programmers/software developers manage to completely fuck things up, not notice they fucked them up, then irrevocably replace the old version with the fucked up one [editline]27th May 2011[/editline] then they take their sweet time fixing it
It's hard to notice when you are programmer/software developer unless people are bitching directly at you. The developers don't play their own games that much because they have work to do and a life.
This game could've had such a freaking huge potential it's not even possible to imagine what kind of stuff there would be. Too bad it's in the wrong hands.
it's in the hands of the people who made it if they didn't make it it wouldn't exist

If minecraft was coded in the equivalent C++ as it is now it would be just as shit. Maybe a few milliseconds faster.
The problem with Minecraft is that all of these test features and effects were never changed since the earliest test releases. The player still makes that ridiculous "OOMF" sound no matter what kind of damage he takes, zombies still drop feathers, lots of items have no function, and instead of going back and fixing age old broken mechanics, Notch keeps adding equally lazy new features with really obscure functions that seem like a placeholders but never change.
it's in the hands of the people who made it if they didn't make it it wouldn't exist
It's not like block type games are ohh so new and rare, someone would've made a Minecraft like game eventually.
Notch just gave up on that idea, didn't he?
To the haters . . . It's fucking Beta, which means you are a TESTER. Shit will break. You also didn't BUY a working game. You PRE-PAID for the eventual release of the game. When the game is actually released, then you can be pissed about how buggy it is. Right now, you are all just spoiled, whining kids. Go back to Gamefaqs.
Stop whining guys
I can whine all I want, if you don't like it, you are very much free to leave the thread.
It's not like block type games are ohh so new and rare, someone would've made a Minecraft like game eventually.
Well technically there was infiniminer which Minecraft was based heavily off at first.
Exactly. I expect some sort of quality from notch. I don't remember an update that broke so much stuff. For example, if a skilled painter always painted portraits with intricate detail, that's what you'd expect of him, right? Now, imagine the same painter painting a stick figure, and rather than trying to improve the stick figure, he paints the same stick figure in a different position on the canvas.
But that's not what happened. He accidentally fucked up a painting while trying to improve on it, and you're not giving him the time to fix that one-time mistake before complaining.
YEAH, I ALSO PAID. I expect if not a perfect, then a working beta.
And you'll probably get it tomorrow, so either stop complaining or learn to deal with the wait.
And you'll probably get it tomorrow, so either stop complaining or learn to deal with the wait.
Yeah, well, why don't you learn to deal with the complaining and shut up?
Alright, I think we can take a break. Let's sit down, shut up, and do something else. I've realized that I've been no help to any of this whatsoever. I apologize, and I hope that we can stop shitting up this thread with our nonsense.
And then we can get back to ripping each other's eyes out in an hour or so.
Yeah, well, why don't you learn to deal with the complaining and shut up?
If you can't handle our whining about you guys whining then you can leave the thread.
Okay, here are the facts: You pre-paid for a final release. Also Notch gave us all access to the alpha and beta modes while he works on them. Alphas and Betas don't work perfect all the time. If it doesn't work in Final release then you can complain about what you're entitled to. My Thoughts: Alpha was less buggy than Beta, but he's trying some more complicated shit now. Also we need some writable/readable books in the next update to finish breaking everything so you guys will complain forever :v:

Game is broken, isn't the same as when I paid for it.
Notch doesn't fix bugs for a single day. Facepunchers spend their entire day bitching about it.
[del]EDDY TT said something about some kind of launcher for MC that doesn't auto-update it. I kind of need it. I want to play some MC 1.5_01 with my friend (who just got his MC version rolled back to 1.5_01) on my 1.5_01 server, but I'm afraid of Minecraft just updating itself without asking me first. Anyone have a link to this launcher?[/del] Nevermind.
I've got something to add to the "Notch is lazy" list. Remember, waaaaay back when, Notch said he put the windows onto doors so that it would make sense when light shone through doors, when it was simply because he couldn't/didn't know how to/wouldn't make doors block light, which also applied to doors letting water through. So now, the only reason that the trapdoor has the fugly windows on it is because he won't/can't make them stop light shining through them.
