Before 1.6.5: 10 FPS with 2-3 FPS spikes
After 1.6.5: 80 FPS never dipping below 55 FPS, Not bad for a 4 year old laptop
Retoast from the "Dream update" thread:
To everyone calling notch out on his infrequent and far-between updates.
He isn't obligated to to shit for you, this game was pretty cheap compared to other games that hardly get updated at all. Stop acting like spoiled brats.

What is this Advanced OpenGL anyway? I notice no difference whatsoever.
Except my framerate is cut in half or something like that.
Occlusion Culling. Basically, if you can't see something on screen, it won't be rendered. On some machines that can handle OpenGL, it will dramatically increase performance. On machines that can't, it will dramatically decrease performance.

Oh just fuck off with this again.
We bought the game, and it is now Notch's job to provide us with updates leading towards the finished game, which will not break it for us. Regardless of him calling it a beta, it does not follow the conventions of a regular beta as we paid to 'take part', and we have been playing since Indev. Stop thinking that Notch is some kind of God who cannot do anything wrong.
[del]erm, is the game autoupdating now? I didn't get a box asking if I wanted to update and it started downloading.
I want to use some outdated mods man[/del]
Edit: Nvm, outdated client

The only good thing we can draw from this cacophony of a cryfest is that people really love minecraft, and are upset when it gets taken away from them. I hope notch looks at it that way too, and doesn't get the impression that his community are a bunch of ingrates.
Just a little FYI: 1.6.5 SMP is totally fixed now, maybe even better than 1.5!
Once again. Fixed some minor yet rageworthy bugs, and three times that many bugs were created.
I'm afraid the new bugs won't stop coming.

Really? Because everyone assumes he looks at his community (MC forums) and thinks that since everyone there is sucking his cock 24/7 and patting him on the back for everything, that he is a god and can do what he wants.

The official minecraft forum is filled with twelveyearolds. I doubt he relies on them to provide community feedback. Also, they have been quite pissy because of some bugs lately.

The reason i posted was that people were still crying out against Mojang. The argument doesn't end until both sides either agree to disagree and settle their differences or one side is proven wrong.
If you want the argument to end, then stop posting inflammatory comments regarding Mojang, if you don't then i'm happy to continue my argument.

Well too bad because thats where he does look to get feedback. I guess his twitter some, too.

Do you have a source on that?
I rarely even see him posting in the forums, most of his community interaction is done through twitter.

The "its a beta hurdurr stop complaining" side was pretty much destroyed more than 20 pages ago.

Common sense? Where do you think he looks, facepunch?

The argument was "destroyed"?
Common sense? Where do you think he looks, facepunch?
I'd say common sense would suggest that he recieves feedback primarily through twitter:
I have never seen him post in the minecraft forums, and i follow his discussions with community members on twitter.

I am pretty sure Notch doesn't read the Minecraft forums anymore, something about him not logging onto his account for a long time.

Jasun is right, if we start going back into the insults we won't come back for a long time.

That part i can definitely agree on.
Just a little FYI: 1.6.5 SMP is totally fixed now, maybe even better than 1.5!
Is SSP functional? I'm particularly concerned about chunk corruption, but if that's no longer an issue i'll probably update as soon as the terrain generation mod I use is updated.
I just played the update for a few hours, I don't see what anyone is complaining about, not a single bug was encountered.

Lucky. I'm having a leftover cheeseburger I forgot to eat for breakfast.
It tastes good cold, though.
1.6.5
There are some annoying bed bugs in multiplayer in this version, I’ll fix those next week.
1.6.5:
* Tweaked the connection reading code a lot. Hopefully this helps.
* Changed the “limit framerate” option to a “framerate cap” option.
* Added “Advanced OpenGL” again
* Players riding anything or sleeping in anything will stop doing so when they leave the game now
* Removed the minecraft version number from the main game window. It’s still available in the title screen
* Fixed some entities appearing to fall through the ground repeatedly in multiplayer (some might still do so)
* Fixed the server sometimes thinking the player hit a corner when walking when they didn’t
* Fixed dropped damaged items vanishing after a single use after being picked up
* Fixed dropped items not getting ejected from blocks properly
* Fixed the achievements window rendering some graphics outside the clip window
* Fixed players saving while sneaking being loaded too high up
* Fixed shift+click transferring items causing a crash when the target container is full
* Fixed lighting updates sometimes not happening correctly
* Fixed the players health appearing to be full when entering/exiting the nether
* Fixed a couple of instances where beds would act strange in multiplayer, primarely the “already occupied” bug
Does this mean I can finally update my game? 1.5_01 is too stable to give up.
Well, I'm gonna go try it. I have to build my Obsidian Fortress, and no amount of bugs will stop me!
In regards to SMP.

I don't want to upgrade to Photobucket pro and I don't think that will fix this.
