Hah. This is what happens when indie devs get lots of money, loads of publicity, and a community that doesn't seem to care when it's getting absolutely cockslapped.
Actually I'm pretty sure it's what happens whenever any game gets a major update.
eventually it'll become 1.7 and the updates would all be bugfixes rather than new features. Poor modders, they have to constantly update not knowing when it'll stop.
Actually I'm pretty sure it's what happens whenever any game gets a major update.
Wait this was a major update? has it really gotten that bad.
Cool. Notch is lounging with a bunch of other Swedish people. http://feber.se/art/211517/feberlive_s02e12/ I can't wait to not see the updates that aren't going to come because Notch loves to do his job.
Haha, he doesn't even know I'm watching him.
Oh wow http://ci.bukkit.org/job/dev-CraftBukkit/ Bukkit's already updated for 1.6.4 ("experimental") Sorry, late.
Hah. This is what happens when indie devs get lots of money, loads of publicity, and a community that doesn't seem to care when it's getting absolutely cockslapped.
What has happened? All I'm seeing is that he's still working on Minecraft, trying to add new things and removing bugs, including porting it over to handheld devices. It's like you all assume that he will leave the game as it looks right now. Edit: I seriously don't understand you people that keeps on complaining about every single thing that Notch does. Really, what's up? Care to explain how he's "lazy" or "stupid"? He gave up a position on Valve just to work on his own games, he has made over €20million, but yet continues to develop Minecraft. What more can you want from him? Mojang consists only of a handful of people, who are you comparing them with if you now believe that they are becoming more lazy etc....
I think the only thing I liked about this patch was the craftable map.
wowok this update removed the advanced directidon'tknowwhat option that thing kept my game at 70FPS on full graphics now i'm down to 20 with fast and without smooth lights

The formula seems to be that Notch adds something that probably could have taken very little time at all, that modders have already done, breaks a shit load in the process, and will probably take another vacation at some point. The community is more dedicated to fixing Notch's mistakes than Notch himself.
Oh wow http://ci.bukkit.org/job/dev-CraftBukkit/ Bukkit's already updated for 1.6.4 ("experimental")
It's hugely unstable though.
It's hugely unstable though.
Guess I'll wait for a few hours. :v: Updating my server's OS right now anyway.
I am severely disappointed with the state of Minecraft's updates, how about some actual progress?

Where do we go now? Oooh where do we go now notch? Ahahahaaha where do we go notch? Sweet notch o mine. Great MC is broken as hell. Notch Response:No i am Markus Alexej Persson
Best of all, any bugs in 1.6.4 will remain unfixed because according to notch's twitter, hes fucked off somewhere. Very professional.
he tweeted that at like 5 PM sweden time i hate to break it to you, but that's when most people "fuck off" from work.
he tweeted that at like 5 PM sweden time i hate to break it to you, but that's when most people "fuck off" from work.
now that's the true sign of dedication. no matter what state you left work in, 5PM it's time to go
it keeps happening

It's more that the game hasn't really gone anywhere, and the last really major update was the hell one, and that was...how long ago? 8 months or so? The community is more dedicated to fixing Notch's mistakes than Notch himself.
It's kind a hard to lead a sandbox game into a certain direction I believe. It's practically finished. And last major update? How about 1.5 that was in April which added achievements, stats and weather? It's very easy to assume that something "could have taken very little time" to fix, but obviously that isn't the case. Maybe Notch and his team aren't that good at programming, who knows, but they are still making things and fixing bugs, unlike some indie developers such as Data (Cortex Command). The relation between Notch and the modders is good, where else can you find developers that add mods that the public has made into the game? The only one I can think of is Valve, which actually only are weapons and hats. Here's the real formula: 1. Notch adds something new that people have wanted and several bugfixes. Sometimes new bugs appears. 2. People bitch about the new bugs as if Notch was the devil that inserted them just to fuck with his fans. 3. Notch fixes the bugs. 4. People are happy and plays the game. 5. Some time passes and people starts to bitch on Notch for being lazy and being a bad developer etc. They complain about "vacations" and probably assumes that he's been sitting in his sofa doing nothing since the release of the latest update. 6. Notch releases a new update. 7. Repeat. The community is more dedicated at bitching about Notch's mistakes even though he tries to fix it. It's not like he planned to break the game and then go to the interview.

I always wonder why Notch always manages to cram so many bugs in quick-fixes. Oh well, I'll have to postpone bringing our server back up until the weekend I guess.
Nether Griefing inbound.
Explosive beds? :what:
so why dont hatches let water in?
so why dont hatches let water in?
Notch is lazy etc. etc.
put a pickaxe in the bottom spot in a cold furnace. destroy said furnace congratz you just crashed the server and/or your client
No pistons. What's your excuse Notch?
notch fixes little bugs no one cares about. large, game changing bugs appear :v: [editline]26th May 2011[/editline]
No pistons. What's your excuse Notch?
Jeb is working on something else, and for some reason, Notch is impossible to continue on them.
I'm disappointed in maps. I expected to be able to map out cave systems, not just the visible top layer of blocks. Also, does tall grass randomly grow, or is it only generated when you make a world? Because I see no grass anywhere around me, and if I can't get seeds from hoeing anymore I'm screwed if I want to start a farm. :v:
Nether Griefing inbound.
Does water come out of the beds when they blow up now, or was that just a weird ice/water block that they'd left lying around during the bedsplosion?
what mods work with 1.6? 0. what mods will work with 1.6? 0. [editline]26th May 2011[/editline] implementing water controlling doors/hatches would be VERY easy. Just make the "open" state of the door/hatch behave like a painting (ie any block can occupy the same block as a painting) and the closed state like normal block!

We need that mod marketplace thingy... [editline]26th May 2011[/editline] Except maybe all for free?
