Does water come out of the beds when they blow up now, or was that just a weird ice/water block that they'd left lying around during the bedsplosion?
I have no idea...
Oh, also I love this screen. :geno:
I think servers are sort of fucked too. I'm trying to host a local server and all we see is a blue sky, some random blocks and mobs everywhere.
Well, I guess some hilarity came from this buggy update hell. I crafted a map and was walking around making sure to look up every now and again so I don't fall off a cliff when suddenly, a 1x3 hole drops me into a huge pit and I died. All because of that MAP. Afterwards I was just :downs:

Is there any way to downgrade so I can actually play on servers without the update?
Is there any way to downgrade so I can actually play on servers without the update?
Sure, if you can find someone who still has the old files laying around.
Does anyone still has the old files laying around?
It's kind a hard to lead a sandbox game into a certain direction I believe. It's practically finished. And last major update? How about 1.5 that was in April which added achievements, stats and weather? It's very easy to assume that something "could have taken very little time" to fix, but obviously that isn't the case. Maybe Notch and his team aren't that good at programming, who knows, but they are still making things and fixing bugs, unlike some indie developers such as Data (Cortex Command). The relation between Notch and the modders is good, where else can you find developers that add mods that the public has made into the game? The only one I can think of is Valve, which actually only are weapons and hats. Here's the real formula: 1. Notch adds something new that people have wanted and several bugfixes. Sometimes new bugs appears. 2. People bitch about the new bugs as if Notch was the devil that inserted them just to fuck with his fans. 3. Notch fixes the bugs. 4. People are happy and plays the game. 5. Some time passes and people starts to bitch on Notch for being lazy and being a bad developer etc. They complain about "vacations" and probably assumes that he's been sitting in his sofa doing nothing since the release of the latest update. 6. Notch releases a new update. 7. Repeat. The community is more dedicated at bitching about Notch's mistakes even though he tries to fix it. [editline]26th May 2011[/editline] And now people assume that the bugs are never going to be fixed? It's not like he planned to break the game and then go to the interview.
Achievements, stats and weather was a major update? Really? Compared to the hell update, that was absolute piss in an ocean. This is just reading like the classic notch defence, where he seems like an innocent developer simply swamped by the evil demanding minecraft community. Also minecraft is practically finished? Really now? You know what would have really fucking surprised me? If he released the update, noticed the bugs and then went "Sorry guys, instead of having a piss about with this interview, I have to fix some serious issues with the game"
I guess I should be really happy that I haven't launched mc yet and thus I'm still on a solid version?
Bought a server about 5 hours ago and i've not been able to play :smith:
I guess I should be really happy that I haven't launched mc yet and thus I'm still on a solid version?
You don't have maps or grass everywhere. :v:
I guess I should be really happy that I haven't launched mc yet and thus I'm still on a solid version?
isn't that experimental launcher able to stop the game from updating? if so I'd recommend using that until tomorrow in Sweden
So my dad said he heard of a new mob in the game. Is this true or not because I'm not seeing anything.
Congrats notch, Happens everytime I login. (and yes I did buy it)
Seems like these recent updates broke more than what they add/fix.
oh that is just great now I have to reobtain all my totally not farmed at all achievements

Also tell me how far they are from finished, because I'm looking at the things he's added and it seems to me that it's mostly items and bugfixes. What other "major" thing can be added? Quests? Guns? Hats? Maybe you could also name a few indie games that has "major" updates every 2nd month. You know what would surprise me? If people actually appreciated his work.
Wow notch. "It uses less CPU now" My computer is fucking overheating for the first time ever when playing Minecraft :frog:

Fucking tons of major things. Earthquakes, floods, volcanoes, ANYTHING. Hahaha people not appreciating his work? 2,313,700 registered copies. Endless fanwank on his twitter and blog and endless wanking off by various magazines and websites. And you're saying people don't appreciate his work lol
oh that is just great now I have to reobtain all my totally not farmed at all achievements
not like there hard to get :v:
not like there hard to get :v:
yeah it sure is easy when your iron supply runs short and you have to travel miles just to find another cave with enough iron to make the next hundred tracks/can't find any dungeons with saddles
My server is apparently really laggy now to those who join, is this because of the patch? It only happened after the update, it's just lagging (takes a few seconds to pick up blocks)
The chunks cannot load properly on SMP, me and anyone else who tries to join keeps infinitely falling to the abyss.
I think I just Crashed 2B2T by going into the nether
Since the 1.6.4 update my server is running very smooth. It was laggy as fuck before (1.6 - 1.6.3) and used 100% CPU with only me being connected.

Right now mobs are just an annoyance, they're easy to fight once you've just got a iron sword and a bit of meat. There's not much point in exploring other than finding cool looking places. All the dungeons look the same and nether is boring and there's not much point in going there except for building materials. [editline]26th May 2011[/editline] Even if a few hundred people didn't appreciate his work that still leaves a couple of million who do. He really doesn't have a tough time, he's got a shitload of money for not much work. Minecraft has a lot of potential, it's just in the wrong hands (I think Notch has clearly gotten bored of developing the game and he's not a very good coder anyway) and that's a shame.
My server doesn't not work at all anymore, chunks load really badly. I'm a bit tired of waiting for updates so long for them just to break the game. As always they will be fixed, but regardless... ugh. Sloppy development.

Would make Minecraft quite unique if he pumped out so big updates every month. And I'm sure you knew that I meant the people in here like you.
