No absolutely not, I expect Notch to continue doing this. It's not bothering me a lot really.
I am realistic, you said it yourself "Minecraft is obviously horribly coded or else this wouldn't be the case.", makes it even more reasonable to be patient and wait for fixes before calling him lazy and stupid for the 10th time.
With the amount of money the company is raking in every day you'd think they would be willing to spend the resources necessary to execute updates properly and not leave their customers hanging while the amount of new bugs introduced the game is proportional with the amount of bugs fixed.
It's not bothering you, maybe, but it's bothering a lot of people and, realistically, it shouldn't be this way at all with the amount of resources they have. Mojang is not some basement pseudo-company, they're in the millions.

What makes you think it's a matter of money? Do you think having a lot of money is gonna make him able to work at light-speed? You act like he's stolen our money or something. You paid for a game that you got. He doesn't have to update it at all if he doesn't want to.
Did you bother to read his twitter? He did test. He got a load of testers on irc. It was in #minecraft, so that might not be saying much but he did get people to try it out.
I rarely check his twitter because to be full of pointless chat like "where you going to eat/what you going to eat/oh look its yet another fan suggestion" and his blog tells us fuck all but release notes and community activity.
Also those testers really did a good job didn't they, I mean we've had 4 bug fix updates in one day already and there are still bugs.
Also, did you guys miss that huge list of bugfixes?
Shouldn't have existed.
Shouldn't have existed.
Are you kidding me? It hasn't even been out of alpha for that long, and it's got a long time to go until it's out of beta. What the fuck are you talking about?

You sort of miss the point. The effect money has had on Minecraft's development is sad because Notch no longer appears motivated to push Minecraft further. You'd think that they would be motivated to actually make some progress with the game because they have no financial problems.

Half a year, but of course, when five sevenths of that time is spent doing anything but developing the game, it kinda feels "not that long".
Sometimes I wish that Notch just rebuilt minecraft again from the ground, ironing out the bugs and horrible code which is preventing him from creating a brilliant game.

Now you're missing the point. The game has not yet been officially released. It is still in the testing stage. How can anyone have the audacity to claim that there should be no bugs? And then complain about him trying to fix them by saying they should have never existed? That's just ridiculous.

You're escaping your original statement and confusing me with EDDY TT, stop before you lose it.
Don't worry, I used to blindly defend Notch and Minecraft up until about a month ago. You'll get over it too, eventually.

lol correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure alpha was not nearly as buggy as beta
Well golly world loading in SMP is bugged.
I can't make new worlds.
A+ again notch.

What I think about it, to get an omelet you have to break a few eggs.
In this case, there are a lot of eggs, but there are too many to make the omelet right the first time around. He needs to experiment and see what works out best.
The real question is, how the hell did he let the bugs with this update slip? It boggles the mind; they're not exactly hard to spot.
Guessing I'm not the only person whose held items keep randomly dropping/disappearing.

Those people in the irc aren't very good testers.

Quite the opposite, actually. I used to be pissed at Notch for all of his vacations and lack of bugfixes and whatnot, but since I've realized that I already have an awesome game sitting on my desktop, and it's a privilege that he adds/fixes anything. I love new features, but I'm content with the game as is.
I don't get why he added in the buggy self-coded trapdoors, there's a trapdoor mod on the forums that has wooden trapdoors and iron ones that act like iron doors with redstone, and don't have issues disappearing when touched by water, seems like just including it would've made more sense.

I'd like to know how worlds not creating properly in SMP got past.

he doesnt have to feed us the experiments
I'd like to know how worlds not creating properly in SMP got past.
They only loaded singleplayer for 10 minutes obviously.
he doesnt have to feed us the experiments
Well, if he eats it himself, he's going to say its good, but if he lets other people taste it, he can get actual feedback.
This is seriously the worst update ever. Did they even test it before releasing it?
This is seriously the worst update ever. Did they even test it before releasing it?
yes
for about five seconds
This is so laggy. I was fine with render distance far with fancy graphics, now it lags even on fast and tiny distance
I think the testing procedure Notch uses is as follows:
*code code code code*
"Alright, let's see if this works..."
*compile*
"Whew! No errors! ...Wait!"
*loads game into menu*
"Yup! Game still works.*
*quit game*
*code code code code*
And repeat.
Last I checked Notch had some TALENTED programmers on his team, I think it's about time they ditch the old engine and started from scratch. Something stream-lined, modular, something that would make it easier for his devs and mod devs alike.
If you're renting from Brohoster, you wait 'till they add the update.
WARNING! BEDS IN THE NETHER EXPLODE IF YOU SLEEP IN THEM!
Black Screen of DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM has returned, oh god!
WARNING! BEDS IN THE NETHER EXPLODE IF YOU SLEEP IN THEM!
That makes no sense.
But it's still awesome.
What has happened?
All I'm seeing is that he's still working on Minecraft, trying to add new things and removing bugs, including porting it over to handheld devices.
It's like you all assume that he will leave the game as it looks right now.
Edit:
I seriously don't understand you people that keeps on complaining about every single thing that Notch does. Really, what's up? Care to explain how he's "lazy" or "stupid"?
He gave up a position on Valve just to work on his own games, he has made over €20million, but yet continues to develop Minecraft. What more can you want from him? Mojang consists only of a handful of people, who are you comparing them with if you now believe that they are becoming more lazy etc....
Were you around on the early Survival alpha days? It doesn't sound like it, because compared to then, he's got lazy.
