Populous: The Beginning, although probably classified as old. And Black and White if you like that sort of stuff.
Sid Meier's Pirates
If you like RTS games, try the Cossacks series. It's kind of similar to AoEII, but is set in the 17th/18th century, and thus contains volatile amounts of gunpowdery goodness. It's just... Good. A polished-out, balanced game, and you can command literally thousands of units.
Thanks guys, I'll start with dungeon keeper 2 then I'll try to play as many of these as I can, Diablo II, system shock 2 and the thief series will be next on the list!
Swat 4
KOTOR. Must have.
Midtown Madness 2, maybe it does have 10 years but its great!
I'm in the same situation as you so let's see if I can find some of my own games to recommend... Deus Ex runs great on most systems but needs a bit of a tweak to run properly on Vista. Freedom Force and the sequel Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich are ace. If you're into RPGs then there's none better for low-end systems than Neverwinter Nights. KOTOR should run good as well. MMO-wise you could go with City of Heroes, or maybe WoW. Psychonauts is one of the best games ever and runs great on almost any systems. GoG.com is a great site for finding old games, by the way. They're very cheap (the highest price they sell at is about £9), they fix all their games to run on any modern systems, and they throw in a whole bunch of extras like wallpapers, avatars and soundtracks too.
Diablo 2 LoD Starcraft Stronghold / Stronghold Crusader Morrowind Rise of nations Star wars battlegrounds Star Wars jedi outcast

Try Battlezone (1998, Activision) or Battlezone II (1999). They're both mixed FPS/RTS games, with full singleplayer and multiplayer. Battlezone 1 is freeware: http://www.battlezone1.net/home/index.html Battlezone II is like 5$ on Amazon/Ebay.
Oh and Heroes of might and magic III
Unreal Tournament 99. You mentioned Unreal 2 but not sure if you have played this. It's one of my favourite all time games. Joined a BT server just now, that forced a light techno track without all the stupid voices to play in the background. So much fucking great nostalgia.
Starcraft Warcraft 3 Command & Conquer: Tiberian sun Battlefield 2 KNOW ABOUT IT!

I thought GoG went down forever? Seems not...
No one mentioned Fable: The Lost Chapters yet. Otherwise Warcraft 3 and Starcraft can be great fun.
Wait, what? I thought GoG went down forever? Seems not...
It was a publicity thing to get more people on the new gog site. Kind of a dick move, really.
Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is amazing too btw.
Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is amazing too btw.
Yeah. I beat that game as jazz on each difficulty, spaz on easy and lori on easy. That game ROCKS.
