Ok, does anyone know which setup file characters.pbo is in? I need to redownload it.
playing arma 2 and posting this from steam overlay. Just went through a pulse-pounding firefight. First time a game has made me feel that in weeks.

So who wants to try this and give me some feedback or general criticism?
Also, there's supposed to be a win/victory trigger at the end. I don't know how to make one, so...
(Nor do I know how to make a briefing to describe what you're supposed to be doing :ninja:)

Anyone?
Wow, that EW campaign. Its rough.
[sp]World gets nuked, the end.[/sp]
Holy shit I've been trying to install Arrowhead for 3 days. I've fully redownloaded twice, and now it is claiming that air.pbo is corrupted. I'm deleting setup02 bin and redownloading, will this help? I've already tried setup01 (redownloaded it).
I have ArmA II retail and just got OA via the same method - should I just install OA to my ArmA II folder or should I make a new folder?
Goddamnit, why did I get the digital download? This is the worst failure of a download system I've ever seen. I don't understand how it could be failing to download the proper files again and again. This time it's air.pbo, before it was characters.pbo, and before that it was anim.pbo. I'm going to be here for a long time.

delete air.pbo
It comes in a setup file, which I've redownloaded several times already.

i installed the sprocketidea version to my arma 2 folder (steam version) and it works perfect i think if you install it to a seperate folder its installed as a standalone game, people with problems seem to have either steam OA & retail arma II or both steam version

Same folder, so you will get Combined operations.
Oh fuck this, which setup file is air.pbo in?
Same folder, so you will get Combined operations.
Cheers, wasn't quite sure if that's how it'd work - just installed it, got CombOps, and am playing Good Morning Takistan... and remembering why I love the ArmA series so much
I haven't been played ARMA 2 online since it was released, Every fucking server needs that advanced combat shit which i haven't been able to download because they want some screwed up system to do that.

Well i was thinking of buying OA through steam at some point but i have original ARMA 2 bought retail. So how does that work out?
In the youtube videos I see, all everyone uses is a light machine gun. Are there any other good weapons?

It's good and easy system so that you don't always need to download 3 gb when they update something.

Screw Six Updater. Download Yoma Addon Sync and you're basically set.

This.
Yoma Addon Sync is much faster and easier to use, and it can be used for much more than just downloading ACE.
Is their any way to get an American copy of the Arma 2 I can activate?
I bought the pre-release from peter-games and I know I can activate a "downloaded" copy with it, but the thing is all of those copies are not english and most servers boot me for the english patch.
I really don't want to rebuy a game I bought @ $20 only to add $30 to get the expansion.
Also when you buy off of sprocket if I order today do I get the double sided map? It says closes july 5th, but does that mean today is my last chance?

Nowadays Six updater is way too easy to use.
Install it, run "Six updater - GUI" and then just select vanilla from presets and execute, or if you want different mods too you can just modify the presets to include more stuff. Oh noes it's so hard to use.

It's basically down to personal preference. In my PvP experience, you won't really be at a disadvantage if you take an assault rifle or a sniper rifle or something. I'm not a huge fan of LMG's because they kick too much if you're just fighting one or two people.
LMG's are pretty crappy in my opinion. An AR with ACOG is what I prefer.
Bought ArmA II again, this time from Steam (last time was on Impulse), now to wait for OA to go on sale...
LMGs area great for doing what they are supposed to do: Fire support and keep enemies pinned down. LMGs are also very accurate and have low recoil when the gunner is on prone position.

You should of just bought the 2 grouped together. It was $49.99 for OA and Arma 2 on steam.
40€, didn't have the money for that.
40€, didn't have the money for that.
You should of saved :(. OA itself is $39.99. It was only $10 more.
OA's 30€, Pack is 40€ and ArmA II was 15€. I had 20€.
So technically you would of saved 5€
If you had the money and were going to get OA to.
