whatnow if your still bored how about making me a custom face?
you linked to the beta patches, tbh i would avoid them some include a shitty new recoil system that i really hope they dont include in the offical patch
If I bought this retail, does it go through steam or would that be a viable way around the whole redownloading the game all over again.
I just don't want to get retail, install, get on steam and it starts downloading everything all over again. In which case it'd be easier just to buy off steam.
The retail version is not linked to steam in any way, you download the patches yourself like any other non-steam game.
The patches for the retail version are tiny compared to the steam patches, since they can update files inside the archives instead of replacing the whole archive with a new one.
I recommend buying it retail anyway, the game comes with a pretty thick manual and a sheet that shows all the keys used in the game, which is really useful if you are new to the series.
Finally bought Operation Arrowhead, whoop.

If you buy the steam version you can right click on the game and click view manual and you can see the same stuff.
Couldn't you download the non steam patch, unpack it and apply it manually to your copy?

Even the retail version comes with a digital copy of the manual, but having a paper copy is much more handy so you don't need to keep alt+tabbing around.
And not all of the manual patches have been steam compatible, and even the ones that were forced you to re-download it through steam once it came available there from what I've heard.

There's also the fact that you could add fake registry entries for Arma 2, so that the patchers think it is installed. Next patch, I'll see if this works.
I'm not feeling the whole "AI uses buildings" thing. They always go around, and won't follow me through any.
Do you need a mic to fully play this game?

What, it works perfectly for me, in singleplayer, in the editor, and on my dedicated server in warfare, was fun filling a house with 10 ai as the americans marched on zargabad with me defending the town :buddy:
You should try the zargabad warfare, it's really fun.
I need a new PSU before I can even play any game now
Fucking MINECRAFT made my computer shutdown, not to mention arrowhead made it shutdown like 4 times in one hour
(mandatory sadface spam)

Much more fun and easy, just get a cheapo 10 dollar one if you really need one.

No I mean I can order them in, but they won't use it otherwise. The AI won't take cover in them.
Which some person said that they do.
It's a waste of several thousand perfectly good enterable buildings if they don't.
they do over here.
that's awesome whatnow

I've got over 600 hours of Arma 2 so don't necessarily need a manual, think I'll grab it in stores anyway.
Thanks for the help.
Wow, the patches are huge. I looked at the changelog and it looks like they rewrite the fricken game every patch. Witch is obviously a good thing.
Wait whatnow, are you running 1.52? That may be the problem, as I haven't been using the latest patch. I'll fix that now.
Don't download the latest patch through steam, because it practically re-downloads the whole game, just use the patch off the official site. It works, thats what I've been doing for ArmA 2 on steam.

Hey be patient enough and OA will become cheap. It's not a mainstream game so retail guys will eventually have to discount it. That's how I got Operation Flashpoint and Resistance back then. Wait roughly a year and the games are already $15.
