Get Combined Operations. It's just $10 more on Steam, and has all of the good bits of Arma 2 and OA combined.
Is there a updated guide on how to use Six Updater to get ACE 2 working for ArmA 2 (not OA)? I just started playing ArmA 2 again and getting ACE to work is more complicated then I remember.

Tried the demo for this, it ran like utter shit. Don't think it's my PC because I can run all my other new games maxed out at 1600/1200...

It's probably the most demanding game out there at the moment. My game runs most things on ultra, manages Metro 2033 and GTA4 on high at a good framerate, but it chokes on ArmA 2 on medium.
However, you need to be aware that the demo is much less optimized than the full game, which has seen numerous patches. It's still demanding, sure, but not as ridiculously unoptimized as the demo.

You wouldn't think it was the most demanding game, the graphics don't look that amazing really.
Ah well, when I upgrade to an i7 and dual 480s my pc will chew threw it no problem, same with Crysis, GTAIV and Metro 2033.

Graphics aren't the reason Arma 2 Lags, most likely the huge view distance.
in those screens I took (up above) had the view distance at 10,000.
ArmA2 averaged 10fps while OA managed 30fps. all the setting were maxed at 1280x1024.

Plus future mod compatibility.
I'm not positive, but I think tonnes of different models use different UV maps in arma, rather than just a large texture sheet for hundreds of models. Probably accounts for the shit FPS.

Heh, the content hasn't really changed in appearance since ArmA anyways.
I think I might get Combined Ops, but I don't know if I should just get OA and the British DLC for the same price. I don't see myself playing the original ArmA2 (unless it's THAT different from OA.)
Can't wait for the new Lingor island map being created along with the Predator NPC for it. Right now it's as exciting a release as the Undead Mod was months ago xD

Also on an unrelated note I saw you can use ArmA2 content in OA so I bought Combined Operations. Chernarus + Takistan as opposed to Takistan + 10 guns, some cars, etc... choice is obvious
Finally got OA, downloading now. From the demo it seems really good. I was worried you couldn't use the maps from ArmA 2 cause they are better IMO, but I'm glad you can.

I have a Core2Duo I can overclock by 15%, and I'm running a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M Cuda 1GB.

Yeah, it's awesome that way, hell you can even combine the two and fight russians in takistan.
I made a mission where one team is dogs, and the other team is hatchbacks. The dog team has to get across Utes without getting run over.

I can actually play ArmA II without huge framerate spikes now (upgraded from Athlon 64 x2 to Phenom II 955, and from an 8800GT to a GTX 460)
