I stopped watching when he said "Two cpus"
There are standard personal computer motherboards with 2 or more cpu slots
I'd laugh if the weight of the GTXes crack the motherboard. [editline]10:26PM[/editline] Why don't they stick the SSDs in RAID for the heck of spending money?
Why, why would you build a computer that ridiculously strong?! A circa 700$ rig from 2007 or 2008 can run 2010 games perfectly on high settings, you don't need to cram FOUR GTX480'S in it to have a smooth framerate!
I need a super desktop :(, Hoping to spend a good £700 on a reasonably decent one, I hope
Pfft that's not even the price of that CPU :v:
Stopped the video once I saw the 3d crap.
Steelseries advertising, much?

Burning money. You are doing it right.
Why are they bothering? You dont need 24gb of RAM, 4gb is enough.. 6gb is abit overkill in my oppinion. But 24?! Gamespot, please go back to your Xbox 360 and PS3.

Gamespot, please go back to your Xbox 360 and PS3.
4gb isn't quite enough anymore. I'm using a 4gb system, and I'm feeling the pinch sometimes. Of course, that's usually when I'm trying to browse FP while rendering something, so it may be excessive for some people, but even doing Hammer + GMod can cause swapping. Oh, and look at this: 24 gb of memory TO GO.
I would sell my left foot for those processors.
Imagine when quantum processing units and nano hardware comes out. We will have computers with millions of times the proccessing power of that chunk of trash. You would be able to run thousands of Crysis instances simultaneously, while watching 3 different Ultra HD movies on all your 3 screens, with absolutely no performance drop. Damn i wish i lived in the future.
So many people here don't understand "Greatest gaming rig" It's not "Economical Gaming Rig" or "Just enough gaming rig" The whole point was to burn through excess cash the site had obviously. They gain advertising from poor PC users who rage at all the nice stuff, and from kids who don't understand PC's and simply see all the pretty boxes.
anyone that actually knows anything about computers from h&s, don't even bother trying to explain anything to anyone outside of it [editline]03:10PM[/editline]
Don't worry, the Classified SR-2 has more chance of breaking the case than the GTX480.
haha and you act like you actually know anything in h&s, great material for the computer illiterate thread [editline]03:15PM[/editline]
Fixed
haha $300? you're joking right? maybe if you don't need anything except for a graphics card and CPU
I just can't imagine why someone would want this computer though..
Pronunciation isn't something that everyone understands fully. Clearly.
How dare another society that has lived over the fucking ocean for 300 years develop their own dialects and languages?
If I'd won that I'd sell everything for 1 grand plus of total peripherals (Use the crap excuse of it being on gamespot and being pre-made :v:) and upgrade my current rig a little bit and keep the money :v:

Think about it, sell it on for less than it's worth and upgrade your pc a tiny bit or have a pc with 6x more processing power and probably 4x graphics power than yours.
I'd sell two of the video cards. And use the money to have a decent harddrive setup. like 6000 dollars and only 1.25TB of storage. I would love to render my After Effects projects on 12 cores.
:frog: Alternatively, you could not be a total idiot and get something that would work just as well with modern games for much less.
If I got this as a prize, I would be ecstatic. I'd finally having a computer thats meant for gaming.
I want to kill them both so much for their akwardly delivered lines, stupid hair dues and simply for being a part of this.
I always wear aprons when building a PC
I could probably buy a PRE-BUILT gaming PC that does the same thing for less.

Greatest? The Astros are sub-par compared to non-gaming headsets like the Sennheiser HD555's or the Audio Technica AD700s. This is clearly just a "budgeted" thing. Edit: By that, I mean some guys who vaguely know stuff about computers were given a lot of money, and just grabbed some shit that looked cool.
Why was the goal to build a reasonably priced gaming rig? :suicide:
The best part is in 20 years people will look back on this and chuckle heartily.
The best part is in 20 years people will look back on this and chuckle heartily.
Probably even less. Think back to 10 years ago, or even 5. In 2000, what were the biggest titles in 2000? Probably Counter-Strike or The Sims. What were the biggest titles in 2005? I think Battlefield 2 and FEAR got all of the shiny-tech attention.
Apart from that Is there a way to build a good gaming rig for at least 1000 aud?
