Lets say if Punchopolis had a lot of diamonds in the bank and another city wanted diamonds...
So Punchopolis will have a bank? If so, I could make it. I've made one in my town. I've been trying to upload a video of it for the past two weeks but the upload always fails for an unknown reason.

One problem has occurred to me. If we start building the city the moment SMP comes out, what will happen when updates are released that would require full world regeneration to get the new features? Will we simply have to live without these things or would exploring the map reveal these new things? If the second is true then we would have motivation to build new cities far away for trading.
I hope it's the second, would suck pretty bad if the city is built and the map is a fixed one that's not infinite causing all the new features to only work with a new map.
That would be horrible, with all the updates he'll be releasing with SMP out of the way (besides fixes). We would have to restart the city every week or two :ohdear: [editline]02:09PM[/editline] We should make a highway system for boats. It would be elevated above the city, going where we needed to go. Maybe make it go all the way to another city, over the wilderness
Read back, I already showed plans for things called "water-roads"
I probably should have explained my idea a bit more, I meant have a literal highway, eg elevated in the sky as to not take up room. It would have little paths going downwards to merge. I remember the discussion about water roads.

We don't have to create a new world every update. It is called exploring people. All we have to do is visit a new chunk and we have our selves a new updated land.
We don't have to create a new world every update. It is called exploring people. We could have a few people back up the world just incase. Also, I finally got my bank uploaded. It does have some design flaws but we could use a similar concept for Punchopolis banks.
Read back, I already showed plans for things called "water-roads"
Aqueducts..?

Ok that vote from way behind on building coordinator is finished, one person got almost twice as many votes as everyone else combined so I don't think having it any longer is necessary. :siren:Chezhead won by a majority vote of 40 votes, with the second placement was at 9 votes each (both Glent and ManningQB18. So yeah, Chezhead will be the one who'll have full authority on building placement for the starting city, he'll also lead the building process which I believe he'll do just fine. If this could be added to the OP I'd be thankful :) Edit : so will we go with one or three people?

Btw guys im going to now work on my plank shop.It will be on a flat mp server.I can't do it in alpha. It will take too much time. Oh and i'l take a couple of screenshots.
What!? I placed? I thought I had no chance at all! I promise to uphold the truth and integrity of Facepunch, yadda yadda. In Notch and Garry we trust.
It's only one person unless they decide to do three. :v:
The plank shop is done and I have the screenshots. Now I only need to know how to actually post the pics.
It should be Chezhead's decision if he wants us or not. He's the one who will know if he needs help with the job

I was figuring the best thing to do would be to have a Financial District, where the Bank will be, along with other businesses focused on promoting and driving the server Economy, such as an Auction House, A Company Building, a Stocks/Share trading platform, maybe a law firm, and so on. The streets need to virtually be gold-paved, and all the buildings need to reflect the purposes they perform, no expenses will be reserved in making these buildings look as lavish as possible. We should also have some Luxury properties here for people to aspire to. We need stuff that acts as Points of Interest, stuff that people are going to want to see. The design for the bank should be loosely based on the Acropolis, pictured below: It needs to be truly huge, a building of excessive grandeur, with white stone walls, and polished marble floors, a red carpet sweeping into the immense lobby from the huge wooden doors. Two huge balconies look into the lobby from above. The carpet terminates at the wall farthest from the entrance, where a service desk is optimally placed for dealing with customers. The primary purpose of the bank to the general public will be loans, so several soundproofed rooms are available to those wishing to talk in private with a bank official. The second primary purpose will be Wealth Management. Once the economy is hopefully flowing, we can start dealing with stuff like Bank Accounts with interest and so on. The secondary purpose of the bank will be Gold Storage, This will be handled by an expansive underground vault system which only bank officials will have access to. The bank should receive a massive kicker fund, as in, tonnes upon tonnes of gold in the Vault. The bank should actively seek to invest in many projects people are looking to start, at first. Really good-value loans should be given for this reason. Don't rule out giving charitably to non-profit organizations too, but take discretion and think carefully about it too. We'll need someone really mature to take the places as bankers and Loan-givers. I would personally like to be the Head Economist with my role in the council. This wouldn't be so much to do with running the bank or any particular business, but would be more behind-the-scenes, keeping everything sorted and running smoothly in regards to cash-flow, giving advice to managers, perhaps, and so on. I know this might not sound like a very fun thing for me to be doing, when I could be building houses and stuff, but I thrive on this kind of stuff and it's what I'd much rather be doing.
The plank shop is done and I have the screenshots. Now I only need to know how to actually post the pics.
dropbox should do it.
dropbox should do it.
Drop box whats that?

Managing the entire city's gold WITH interest would be a massive job. Probably not even doable. And I don't know anyone who would want to help with that job. Still, I love the concept of a bank. If you didn't have interest, it could be doable. Loans would also work pretty well.

I have devised a number of siege defense techniques in the event of an attack from a hostile city. 1. Arrow-Claymores. Enemy attacks, have arrow claymores that spray the landscape with hundreds of arrows. 2. Boiling Lava. Enemy at the gates? Open a door and have lava kill them all. 3. Underground explosives. Enemy charging you? Press a lever and have the ground explode from under them.

As a final defense measure, we can destroy the bridge, which would explode and hurt anyone on it, and they can be finished off in the lava.
Huh yeah can someone tell me what the drop box is and how do I use it. So yeah.
Also I think in terms of leadership, the current 9-member council should stand as permanent, with irrevocable rights. Another position should be available for a monarch who is voted in. Other positions should hop up from time to time, some permanent and some temporary, some even honorary. We should each take a position of charge over a certain area of stuff that we'll be mainly doing. I've thought long and hard about them, and these are the ones I've come up with. Monarch The Monarch is a temporary member of council who is voted in by the registered citizens. He is also expected to be the public face of the council, delivering speeches from time to time, and gets some general say on what goes on, not to the extent as the Heads of Department however. Head Industrialist The head industrialist takes command of all aspects of Primary-Industry within the city. This involves organizing and managing government-appointed mining camps and sorting out roles for people interested in working in this sector. He will interact heavily with Guilds focused around this topic. Head Architect Head Architect will organize all building projects to do with the city, he will also liaise with building contract companies, deal with resource distribution. He will also deal with lots of land, construction licensing and so on. He will interact heavily with Guilds focused around this topic. Head Socialist The job of the Socialist will be to take charge of anything involving Social events, and promoting players within the game to interact socially between themselves. This will include organizing all meetings, arranging and structuring player Guilds, hosting dinner parties, and even organizing housing and events. Head of Territory The Head of Territory will deal with topics such as Exploration, Pioneering, Expansion, Scouting, and construction outside of the city walls of villages, roads and so on. The person in this role will be expected to organize expeditions, control boundaries and so on. Head Economist Head Financier These roles are very similar so I've tied them together and they will have similar duties. The role of these players will be to take charge of the in-game currency, hopefully kick-starting it successfully and making way for a highly organized system of money usage by players. The financial district within the city will be the domain of the players in these roles. They will liaise heavily with corporations and businesses, sort out taxation and generally manage the cities own assets and funds. Head of Utilities This role entails management and construction of sewers, waterways, and other civic utilities within and under the city. This role will also focus on creating an underground network of tunnels linking buildings together via their basements. Head of Transit This role will heavily focus on the construction of roads, rails and other methods of transport both within and outside of the city. Head of Agriculture This role will focus on everything relating to agriculture and food production and supply for the city. This will entail farm management, organizing supply lines to restaurants as well as organizing and managing the operation of these restaurants. The person in this role will liaise heavily with Farmers. This role also covers waterway routing to an extent. Feel free to suggest changes. I myself would like to be Head Economist. I have also come up with an example of an honorary role we could utilize: Hero The Hero is any person who has shown a heroic feat of bravery in the fact of danger. Hero's will be publicly announced and Knighted as a Hero. They will be relied upon to react if the city is ever in direct danger, and also possibly sent out on expeditions/missions when required. The city will provide specialist gear on request to heroes regardless of cost alongside the high pay checks they may receive. Depending on the situation, they may be invited to attend the Council Members Meetings.
I think a simple gold monument to heroes would be cool. Maybe a city garden for accomplished citizens.
