I have decided not to make the underwater city, instead I will partake in the military of Punchopolis, if there is one.
I volunteer to be a general of the Punchopolis army.
We will need it when other city states attack us, think of it as a Punchoponnesian war :v:
Chezhead is pretty much the Head of Territory, gman_freeman is Head of Architect.
If a member of council were to leave, how would we select a replacement? would there be a vote, or would the other council members choose?

i cant press it!!!!
I was thinking if we do an election system, we have a 1x1 pit in the ground with water at the bottom, nobody will be able to get in here, because the water at the bottom will carry the vote through a 1x1 hole. We will have a pit for every person in the election. The votes will be done by throwing in a valuable material, possibly gold bars or even diamonds, into the pit. Which ever person's pit has the most votes wins! If I worded this badly, I'll do a quick drawing just in case.

That would work, but if everyone in the election has their own seperate holes, wouldn't it make more sense to throw something non-valuable into the pit? like gravel or just earth?

List of government [jobs]

I got bitched at for saying stuff like that.

Then you could walk out and dig 500 gravel or dirt and throw them all in. If the material is valuable, then it would be hard to vote more. Alternatively, the government could hand out the material so that the citizens lose no wealth.

Sorry, I was thinking that the pit would be watched by a member of government to prevent cheating, but if the government were to hand out the material to voters, that would be ideal.

The thing is though, the wealthy could still vote more than once, and the poor would have incentive to not vote because they could just keep whatever valuable material was being used to count the votes.
The best material for something like this would be something only the admin could create and has no practical use whatsoever.
Notch should have unique items that serve no purpose other than to be unique, so we could use them for voting, and the items have to be made by an admin.

sam you mind reading ninja
or you know, have a poll online

That is a definite flaw in the system. Can't think of a solution to that one...

:buddy:
Why do we gotta make everything so complex. Trading, voting?
Just place an online poll for the leadership and have traders take payment then drop the goods. If someone tries a scam they get arrested if there isn't much doubt.
We don't need huge ornate and hideous trade chambers that serve no reason but to induce paranoia in everyone who tries to trade.
Yeah I'm going to be a completely honest- er, I don't know what I'm going to be yet, but it sure as hell will be honest.
Not digging it.
Do you mean the construction/layout of it? I'm open to suggestions if you have any. Like I said, it's just a concept.
Yeah... infinite probably won't be an option for the server if it eats up as much memory as i think it will, but if we can get chunk generation on a limited map, then it would work.
basicly limited infinite
You could copy and paste the major places (Punchopolis, Imperial City) using MCEdit I guess.

I think he's meaning that the "Army" will be defensive. Only being offensive when certain groups continue raiding day after day.
I'm gunna pick up a card to get this later
city is still open right?

We aren't restricting anyone from joining the city.

I'll help out on the side, defensively only though.
I have decided to make a full fledged city with my friends who are also dedicated. It will be walled and fit up to 30 large houses, as well as space for businesses. Land may be purchased and the city will require citizenship to enter, which will be probably free to apply for. I will make this city SHORTLY after Punchopolis is up and running.
I just noticed something.
How are we going to find a piece of land suitable for the city?
I know about digging and stuff but that could take ages. :ohdear:

The Punchopolis Army serves the city. It is the city's military force, like any kingdom should have. War breaks out between cities? Count on us. Getting raided? We'll keep them out.
