I just noticed something.
How are we going to find a piece of land suitable for the city?
I know about digging and stuff but that could take ages. :ohdear:
Get some flat land, maybe some terraforming but it shouldn't be that difficult.
Get some flat land, maybe some terraforming but it shouldn't be that difficult.
We should probably go for the lowest elevation, because it would be easier to dig than to build.

We will mine the mountains
so what about the roads, minecart tracks, and water roads gregah? Can I do them, or there is going to be a vote for this.
Well, within city limits you would need permission from the city, but outside roads and tracks could be implemented without permission. Right?
Awesome, looks like allot of fun. I will join when SMP is released.
Hi, just letting you know I'm going to be all for building this city.. or blowing it up, some of you know what I mean. :D

No, nooooo!
Not flat land!

I'm assuming all stone around the area will be gone fairly quickly after we start.
True, we have pretty much designed all the city models so far based on a flat land location. If we made a mountain city we'd have to scrap that design we'd agreed on.

We need to use INV editor.
We need to use INV editor.
That's to assume the editor will work for mp.
Has anyone seen Chezhead recently? I'm worried :ohdear:
Hey guys, I was gone. So, one question:
Have you decided on anti-griefing measures yet?
That's to assume the editor will work for mp.
MineEdit, then. It can edit chests.
In combination with MCedit, which allows you to copy-paste full chests with ease.

Nope, not quite sure how we'll handle that.
Wait, I earned (not won) the right of being building placement coordinator? Sweet! I'll be sure to help out the city as much as I can. Thanks!
(We have to figure out a new, shorter name for that... BPC?)

As for labor and building the things, it's really up to the individual owners of the property. I really just set where the things go, and for all I care, you can build whatever you want in those constraints.
One thing I do have control over the style of is the sewers, I guess, so I have a vague idea of what it will be.
Here's a little full-scale model.

This is an example of the road, built before the sewers.

There would be various access ladders going down to it, and when/if trap doors are implemented, those would be put on top.

With the blue cloth being water, you would have a little room on each side to walk. You couldn't really get across without getting wet, but that's not much of a problem. As you can see, it's right below the road to make it easier to build so you don't just estimate where you are digging.
While this sewer system sounds useless, it actually provides resources as a mining excavation, using no materials except for ladders and shovels/pickaxes, and maybe torches and buckets.
"Now Chezhead, even though this is amazing, how will it get water? Wouldn't it just stop flowing at 7-8 spaces?"
That's where we require help. Each house built will need to have a garbage disposal system for this reason! It will not only make throwing away trash easier, but also provide water to make it flow. If there is a stretch where there is no water, we can add it. While this may get some blocks stuck down there, it still eliminates the waste.
The garbage will flow over the pathways at points, but you can just jump over them or get wet.
I think the sewer should just be 3 blocks wide, 2 blocks for walkways on either side and 1 block in the middle for waterflow. I also think we should make the sewer slope down so that we can avoid having random spots where waste will gather and so that it could all go to an incinerater or a collection depot.
These are screenshots of my sewer. It continually slopes down until it reaches the incinerater. In mine I didn't slope the ceiling but you could if you wanted to. The main waterway that carries everything works with just one water source.

I like this one better, requires less resources and I don't think that we are going to throw down that many stuff at the same time. Perfect.

That looks like crap.
That looks like crap.
Agreed. And the water streams would also push anyone walking in the sewers into the main flow. Not good if it leads to lava and they can't get out easily...

I love it too, I don't even know why I wanted the two-block-wide sewers! I will adopt that idea into it. The only problem I have is the idea of an incinerator. I don't see how that could work, could someone enlighten me? I see it maybe just falling off the bottom of the map or into a huge HUGE underground pool, probably infested by slimes.
Agreed. And the water streams would also push anyone walking in the sewers into the main flow. Not good if it leads to lava and they can't get out easily...
sounds like something an assassin would do.
sounds like something an assassin would do.
I would love to be an assassin in game that would try to kill people without any idea who did it, and push their bodies into the sewers, but I don't want to hinder the town.
Now even though I WANT to, doesn't mean anyone should.
Wasn't Zesty going to build the sewers? Or did he change his mind?

I honestly have no idea, but I thought I was in charge of that. If he is, less work for me.
Anyone but Mr. Killa would be great for the sewers...
