We don't need to be secure. Grefiers will greif even if we "secure" the server some how. Now what we need to do is wait it out for now. Lay off the city building until notch fixes all the items that are in the game now and the server issues like lag with more the 10+ people. This may take about 2 weeks but it is worth it. Plus we already have our list. And that list is facepunch. This is the facepunch city. Not only some on facepunch city.
I like the city wars idea. But the player cap needs to be high, because I want to play with you guys, but it's always fucking full.

Who says that have to stay anyways. This is a server with an almost infinite world. I would rather see multiple city's then just one really big city in the world.

No.
It will be unplayable even with a list. And I am sure that once we actually get a list up and start to say no to people the list will stay forever.
I found like 480 clay in server 2. Of course no smelting, and the server crashed when I tried to stash them away :saddowns:

One thing I hope notch adds is custom texture sheets server-side.
I mean the texture sheet can only be a couple kb max, but how awesome would it be to have insanely variable textures from server to server.

But anyways, we should probably have a somewhat strict list until proper banning is implented. Once banning is implented, you should move onto having a very open list and letting in anyone who doesn't look like an idiot or troll have access to the server.
Nerdygamer, I respectfully STRONGLY disagree with you denying the need for a player list. It was the original idea, and it would definitely make life on the server much smoother. Our list is Facepunch? Please. Like there aren't morons left and right here too.

Why we need a list Example 22:
Griefers will get in anyway. How hard is it to give out the server ip?
Not to mention that most of the guys that gets on the list will probably end up griefing anyway for fun.
it is also why you do not build at spawn.
I joined the first server of Profan's and it is really messy and full of griefers. I can't wait until we start doing this seriously.
Server 1 was reset with a new world, a bunch of people banned.
