First person, minus the headbob.
No, DICE. When you run, your head DOESN'T flop around in every single direction.
I found GTA IV better with the first person mod.
I wonder if anyone's made a second person game where you see things through the opponent's eyes. :v:
http://digg.com/news/gaming/Second-Person_Shooter Holy shit they have!
Aren't completely textual games second person?
"You walk into a room." "You pick up a key."
I mean completely textual, as in no real graphics other than text, and yes they do exist.
both... 3rd for traveling (vehicles, foot, exploring) 1st for combat
I've always preferred third person.
Fallout 3 was spot on because you could choose.
I play mostly in first person, doing missions and shit, but I play in third person doing puzzles and shit and traversing the wasteland.
But the 3rd person animations were dick-shitting terrible
Its funny, when I play a first person shooter I end up wondering what it would be like in 3rd person. When I play a 3rd person shooter I wonder what it would be like from 1st person.
First person perspective and fast threads.
Depends on the game.
Fucking hate third person. So annoying dealing with stupid camera parallax shit when you're indoors and other annoying bullshit(your guy is indoors before the camera is, for example, so you get mowed down)
plus you can unfairly see around corners and shit
Most of the games that are my favorites are TPS and not FPS, they're almost always 1000x more original and creative.

And you can't really enjoy the guns. I thought I was going to enjoy using revolvers (my favorite weapon) in Red Dead: Redemption, but no. You can't really see the gun when your zoomed away in a 3rd person perspective.

I forgot about vehicles. I always use third person, unless it's a game with TrackIR support.
Vehicles in First Person usually don't work.

Maybe you should stop playing 3rd person games from a decade ago...
Both.
Usually I prefer firstperson because in third person your view in interior areas is limited, but thirdperson is often necessary if the character mobility is important like in Assassin's Creed or Splinter Cells.
First person, generally better and more responsive controls, less chance of a consol-ey cover system, immersion, less screen obstruction.
I kinda prefer third person to be honest. Then again, I only play third person games on a console, and as we all know, all third person games on PC are crap.
Really depends.
I prefer TPS games, like Global Agenda, Advent Rising, Mass Effect.
Don't know why but i just like them more.

Mass Effect sure is crap.
First person for shooters, Third person for RPG's (I like to see my character develop, oblivion gave me OCD from constantly tapping the third person camera key).

Need for Speed: Shift and Farcry 2.
Depends on the game.
Vehicles in ARMA2 work too, first person.
GTAIV + Firstperson mod = Better than vanilla GTAIV

Well, what I meant was the control. I'd have liked the combat in ME more if it were first person. Third person just doesn't work on the PC for me.

I guess it's a matter of taste.
First Person on PC and Third Person on consoles.
I voted First Person however.
this, this so goddamn much
Well, it depends on the game. But, I prefer 3rd person in general. One thing though, Modern Warfare 2 is really crappy in 3rd person.

On the flip side, I only seem to do well in third person in Modern Warfare 2.
That being said, in my opinion, third person is good for giving the protagonist a more clearly defined role, rather than just that guy whose eyes you are looking through. And first person I find good for atmosphere and letting more of the protagonists personality be left to the player to help with immersion.
