It doesn't NEED a slimmer version. Slim versions are usually to fix the faults/issues of the previous versions. The Wii has none. The PS3 is physically huge and the 360 eats discs and explodes every now and again.

Dude Sony will never have games like Super Mario. I have PS3 and Wii and both are good for me.
Sony has nice games but most of them are killing and killing while Nintento is the opposite; I like shooters but sometimes I have spent very good times playing Wii Sports.

That is a relatively old picture, before the new 360 was even thought of. And even still, the point is still valid, Nintendo's hardware is very sturdy, whereas others aren't. My Wii has survived 2 lightning-induced power surges, my next-door friend's Xbox and PS3 didn't.

Have you ever heard of Ratchet&Clank? Jak&Daxter? Sly Cooper? I may be wrong, but those are rather colorful, kid friendly, platforming games which are comparable to Mario. Just not as iconic.
