Expansion of Steam to cloud gaming as well as network based stuff on TV's The possibility of different mediums hitting steam Steam on mobiles
Valve is going to rule the world
and for fun, people currently playing mincraft 3064 People currently playing Counter Strike (a 12 year old game) 25,494, which is a third of the peak. This is completely about fanboyism, and if we asked each of those people playing a valve game to vote and those who had a steam account, valve would win.
I think you should also look ahead into each companies 2011: Valve; Portal 2 Continued Updates for all of their games Source SDK overhaul Team Fortress 2 Updates (Meet the's included) Expansion of Steam to cloud gaming as well as network based stuff on TV's The possibility of different mediums hitting steam Steam on mobiles Steamworks on PS3, bringing console/pc gaming cross platforming Increased security for steam accounts Expansion of games catelogue Half Life 2 Episode 3 announcement (maybe) More source tools like Source Film Maker Mojang; Mincraft Updates Scrolls (which is also totally original).
And the Cold Stream and L4d 1 campaigns to l4d2.
And the Cold Stream and L4d 1 campaigns to l4d2.
I'd have left that out too.
Even most of the Minecraft subforum is voting valve.
You realize that Alpha is essentially the release of Minecraft. Classic was way different. And yes, it's a big thing, and yes, it makes sense that you might think that's worthy of a vote, but don't be such an arrogant ass if someone thinks differently.
I don't think they're worthy of the vote, I know they're worthy of the vote. Though this is just a stupid popularity contest so no one is going to take any facts other than their own opinion into consideration when deciding the "best developer".
Who the fuck voted Minecraft?
I'm voting for Valve, I'm just saying, settle down. I find it ironic that the people saying it's a stupid contest are the ones getting so fired up about it.
Who the fuck voted Minecraft?
Fanboys Ignorant people who only know Valve as "that company that made Left 4 Dead" who are also known as "Console Gamers."
I'm voting for Valve, I'm just saying, settle down. Stupidity tends to irk intelligence.
Another thing you have to take into account with popularity contests like this, is that most of the populace who plays the game is completely oblivious to whats happening. If I asked those people playing Counter Strike to vote on the Escapist Dev Competition, most would just (in german) ask what the christ the escapist was, because they are playing the game for fun. When it comes down to Mojang and Mincraft, it has a much tighter knit community, most people are on the minecraft forums everyday or follow notch on twitter because it's just one game and they feel like they are part of this little community. Steam and valve games are nice massively broad thing where people just want to play the game for fun. I have a friend who plays TF2 from time to time, if I asked him about SPUF he would just stare blankly at me because he doesn't give a crap.
Minecraft is good and I like it but it's not even close to being better than Half-Life let alone the whole friggin' Valve.

I mean seriously, I don't give a shit about SPUF, I just hate how stupid they can be on it.
I'm just pissed that Nintendo lost. Nintendo basically created every game I played when I was younger. (First video game I ever played was Super Mario Bros 3)
Nintendo essentially created the current video game market, and consistently change the way the market is played. I don't think any company matches the innovation and love Nintendo put into their things.
Nintendo essentially created the current video game market, and consistently change the way the market is played. I don't think any company matches the innovation and love Nintendo put into their things.
I gotta say, even though I'm much older than when I played Nintendo games all the time, seeing newer versions of series I love (Mario for example) still makes me me extremely happy. Nintendo is a company that sometimes doesn't treat it's series as well as it should (Pokemon, Metroid) but it's main series (Mario, LoZ) are so incredible. Miyamoto is basically my hero with all the amazing games he's created and the ways he's forever changed my life.
I didn't even know there was a SPUF until this year. I mean seriously, I don't give a shit about SPUF, I just hate how stupid they can be on it.
The best part about SPUF is that (for TF2 at least) its only 3% of the player base.
Besides, the contest is about developers, not games and Valve is much much more involved with their community than Notch.
Besides, the contest is about developers, not games and Valve is much much more involved with their community than Notch.
Yeah, and let's not forget that Steam is about to go multiplatform and soon every PS3 player on the planet will know about it too, which can only help make Valve more popular.
The best part about SPUF is that (for TF2 at least) its only 3% of the player base.
The tf2 section here is probably .05%.
[img_thumb]http://i53.tinypic.com/o08mc1.jpg[/img_thumb]
I bet that person got VAC banned and is using the "scam" card as an excuse to evade the fact that they broke the rules or never saw the Terms of Service. People like that piss me off.
nah I'm betting they're one of those people who think they got scammed because L4D2 came out only a year later.
nah I'm betting they're one of those people who think they got scammed because L4D2 came out only a year later.
Or his pc couldn't run it. :v:
voted minecraft. I payed 80$ because of a transaction failure, and its well worth it. Valve is nice too, but minecraft is just as fun. Wheres the both option?
If it were BioWare vs. Valve, I'd be a little more concerned. I mean, that's just my opinions because I'm a huge RPG fan (of BioWare's caliber. Mass Effect, KOTOR, Dragon Age), but Valve has some of the best customer interactions and satisfaction. They also have deep story. Only in Half-Life universe, though. L4D was a huge disappointment story wise. It's all speculation on most of it. Minecraft has: Survival and building. If you look in the forum that compared the two, Mojang has like 2 lines describing their entirety, while Valve has a paragraph. Should be fucking clear.
I think it's completely unfair for Notch to post a link on his blog, Valve should do the same. It's like the Java competitions to make a product in X thousand lines of code, his last entry was shit compared to the others and still won.
I think it's completely unfair for Notch to post a link on his blog, Valve should do the same.
Nah, just shows Valve is so awesome they don't give a shit about it or the results.
Nah, just shows Valve is so awesome they don't give a shit about it or the results.
Until they post a Steam announcement like last year and win it all. :v:
Until they post a Steam announcement like last year and win it all. :v:
They'll probably do that last minute just to show everyone who they're dealing with. At least that's what I'd do. [editline]29th March 2011[/editline]
Also, it's not letting my vote for Valve, just Blizzard Vs Bioware :wtc:
Same for me....
