How could a gameplay element that massively slows the game down possibly be a good idea in a title that is [i]all about speed[/i]?

Has anyone else noticed how pressing down to go into a spin actually... slows you down? In the original games it sped you up. That just totally fucks with my head.

Sonic 4 has horrible physics for a 2D sonic game. Sonic doesn't even keep his momentum. I haven't played Sonic 4 but I can only imagine how easy it must be thanks to the homing attack. It truly is disappointing.

Man I hate not loosing control of my character and flying into spikes/pits/lava It needs work but the old physics were pretty shitty, also why are you not holding a direction down when playing a sonic game. For real

I'm very disappointed that the games made nearly 20 years ago on a 16-bit system had a much better grasp on Newton's Laws of Motion then the latest game on a "current gen" system. How does the pinball world even work now considering any time you let go of the controls you stop moving horizontally almost instantly?

I saw a guy go from being inept at Sonic games in general to being faster than me in Sonic 4 in a matter of a few runs. Homing attack use wasn't that hard. If it's anything to go by I can beat Green Hill Zone act 1 in about 28 seconds. This guy is now ranked at 400 something on the first act of Sonic 4 but I guess it's really hard for some people.
