SOME BIG CRYSIS PICTURE
Shame it ain't working for Windows 7, i'd love to kick in some more asian scrap houses. Also, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is . . . decent.
Just a simple question; Did you play it around 2004 when its release defined a new industry standard for the next generation animation, sound, narration, computer graphics, artificial intelligence and physics simulation, or a year or two later when the game engine wasn't cutting-edge any longer?
About halfway through 2005.
Myst is just beautiful.
Shadow of the Colossus hands down.
Brutal Legend had some kickass enviroments, really rather imaginative at times too. I'll rather shamefully admit that the extreme detail put into Viva Pinata was extremely pretty, as childish as the game was.
Nice, but repetitive. I hated jungle war games like this because of the scenery, to much of them. [editline]08:13PM[/editline] [editline]08:14PM[/editline] Damn you photobucket.
Fallout 3 looks pretty damn good, especially with edited LOD values.
Just cause 2 Halo reach
My game to throw in would be Halo 3 or Reach. Looking out into the distance and seeing the war happen somewhere that you aren't at is spectacular. I remember the one level in Halo 3 (The Covenant) There was the one part with one huggggggggge flat battleground, and tower, 2 scarabs, enemy land vehicles, and then a complete aerial dogfight overhead. Parts in Reach are similar.
Shame it ain't working for Windows 7, i'd love to kick in some more asian scrap houses.
What? I run Crysis fine on Win 7. 32-bit version however.
Yoshi's Island and Bioshock.

The actual game doesn't look anything like that.
I really wanna play shadow of the colossus again, I have the game and a gamepad, so if I were to download a emulator for it, would I be able to play it?
Someone is forgetting minecraft :V

Awesome PS3 game.
Fallout 3 looks pretty damn good, especially with edited LOD values.
TBH I always thought fallout scenery looked kinda shit, look at all that empty ground on the right side of the picture. Not even a patch of grass. [editline]10:43PM[/editline] I'm surprised no one's said GTA 4 yet, I think they did an excellent job on the cities.
when you first cross the mexico border in red dead redemption, and you're on the cliffs with that quiet acoustic guitar is playing, it's breathtaking.
I really wanna play shadow of the colossus again, I have the game and a gamepad, so if I were to download a emulator for it, would I be able to play it?
All the good PS2 games have compatibility problems with emulators, but it could work. Try it out.
The Trainz series is built around the Surveyor mode, which lets you create your own landscape for a track you design. If you are good at it, some awesome results can be made:
It isn't out yet but RAGE. According to the developers there's a lot of it and it's all hand-made.
RAGE looks incredible.

Oh yeah, how could I forget Psychonauts? Seriously buy this game. It's cheap as ass on Steam and yes it is a console port, but it's an awesomely clever, corny, hilarious and beautifully designed game. [editline]10:17AM[/editline] Never liked the looks of ArmAII or OF:DR. The environments are impressively large but looking at it closely made me realize how low-resolution the terrain really is, with lots of brown and dreary sprayed over it.
Guild Wars. None of the images coming up on google are all that impressive though...
For an MMO Guild Wars had pretty awesome scenery. Especially some of the concept art.
One level always sticks with me when it comes to scenery. Its the catacombs level near the end of Dark Messiah Might and Magic.
Minecraft looks good sometimes
Never liked the looks of ArmAII or OF:DR. Damn Steam notification :(. But yeah, very noticeable at the bottom of the image is the terrain resolution.
