It's a named one, i believe.
Man, I am actually tempted to buy this. I'll have to pick up a way to get money for the sub fee though.

the sub fee is the only thing keeping me from buying it.

It's not going to change. :v:
I don't mind cause I've already got my first month's fees reserved. (After the 2 week free for returns)

it's worth putting into perspective that $12 is like two trips to McDonald's, eating healthier will save you the cash pretty fast

I don't think swapping two trips to McDonalds for dozens of hours of sitting at a computer is a good trade-off. :v:

So if you suddenly go unresponsive in-game it's because you're touching yourself? Good to know.

I hope I get the chance to play with the chocobo companion next weekend, it seems interesting. Also the barding options I'm dying I want a white magebo
[editline]e[/editline]
apparently you can get one with 1000 'seals' from a Grand Company after you join one. You then talk to the 'wandering minstrel' and they teach you to summon the chocobo in combat
I don't care if it's cheap pandering, I love all of these classic Final Fantasy throwbacks. Chocobos dressed as mages, Magitek armour, Moogles delivering mail. All they need is some sort of card game and then I won't want to play anything else.

I have to re-map everything since I'm a lefty and use IJKL for movement, but my logitech G300 mouse takes a lot of that stress off. I mapped 1-6 on it and used the last key to do target lock-on, if I'm lazy I don't have to do much else than use the mouse

Well, for me, that's more like 5 and a half trips to McDonald's. But yeah, I can see your point. I can scrounge $12 in a month pretty easily.

I'm a little confused...
Will I have to re-purchase FFXIV for ARR? I read a little bit on the forums about a collector's edition and getting some special minion or whatever.

• If you have an account from the original FFXIV it will work on ARR, so long as you start paying the subscription again.
• If you paid for three+ months of subscription in the original, you get 'legacy' status and can carry over your old characters and inventory, though they are restricted to 'legacy' servers so all the high level people with lots of money don't botch the economy instantly. This restriction will be lifted (rumor?) after a few months when it won't be an issue.
• You can get your original pre-order or CE bonuses if you earned them for the original. You don't automatically get the -new- pre-order or CE bonuses, which also means you don't get early access rights.
• If you have the PC version, you CAN pre-order the PS3 version (or if you decide later, buy the CE off the store shelf) and get the bonuses onto your original account by tying the PS3 copy to it. Unfortunately, this means you have to pay for the entire game again only to get a few little trinkets and a few extra days of gameplay. (I don't believe you can buy a second copy of the PC version and tie it to the old PC version, though that would save $10 in comparison if you could.)
I've been playing the beta and loved the game so far, I'm thinking about deleting my current characters and make a gladiator or a maurader just to try those out.
Trying to post my character looks as well.

you don't need to delete your character to make room for others in the beta. I've been dinking around and letting friends try stuff out a lot

Submitted few days ago my Beta Application with a nicely fill out survey, hoping for the best! Also, any info how many beta-phases there are going to be?

This Phase has two more (weekends) left, then next phase is soft launch.

I wish SE gave the orignial CE buyers a discount on the new CE content.

Are the Disciples of the Hand/Land not classes or jobs or whatever? I thought I can finally choose a pacifist class in a MMO and play as one. Or are the something like tradeskills? I don't get it, anyone want to shed some light?
i'm not 100%, but to my knowledge they're crafting classes that also level up, they get better armor etc with crafting stats to help them craft better items.
I think once I reach level 50 White Mage and get all my sweet gear, I'll work toward being a Paladin.

they are treated as classes. You need to wield the appropriate tools and use specific gear with stats that boost your abilities, but I think it should be something leveled hand-in-hand with the fighter classes since it requires both money and resources gathered via quests and mobs

lower level stuff is pretty doable, but if you were to go harvesting in higher level areas you're more than likely going to need to clear an area to work, or have a body guard follow you around if you don't have a fight class of the appropriate level to defend yourself
You could probably also buy the materials you need off the marketplace, if you have the money for it.
I love how Hakurai talks

I mentioned money, which aside from RMT is gotten mostly from actually venturing out into the main meat of the game. On the plus side though, I've noticed that (at least in the leatherworking guild) they make a jab at having to gather everything and note that you can buy everything you need to start out with from the vendor in-house, which is great if you want to kick it off and didn't think to start a gathering class or go gather pelts and junk
