In comparison to other games that have a monthly fee this is one of the cheaper ones, but I'm not entirely sure of the longevity this game will have for me. One thing I like most about Guild Wars 2 right now is that even though I've stopped playing due to a lack of serious content updates I didn't have to cancel anything and I don't have to pay anything to start playing again if it ever does get updated.
It's not totally out of the question though since I did enjoy these past beta weekends.

A super easy way to make money is to gather shards and sell them in huge bulk. That's what I did in 1.0, and I easily made 150k in a couple of days.

My NPC companion kept hitting on me. It was great.

I love the way that crafting works in this game, it's like everquest 2 but more... simple? modern? i can't find a good word for it.

Yah they could summon Avatars ( I think they called them in FFXI ). I'm sure you can in XIV as well. But you had to work towards the larger more devastating summons, you started with little elementals.
EDIT for clarity:
The class started with the little blue cat like summon shown by the arcanist in your video. They also had some elementals to summon which were basic weak summons. Doing job quests (as with all jobs) unlocked the more devastating and signature class abilities, in the summoners case, the well known summons like ifrit and shiva :)

I was actually kind of surprised to see the conjurers running around with cherry bombs, given ACN is supposed to go to SMN, unless they're working out a job/subjob style requirement for specific jobs so you'd need CNJ+ACN to get SMN, or just ACN to get SCH or whatever.
really optimistic thinking but I know they've got at least a few surprises in the dark regarding big stuff like that still
All jobs have always been a combination of 2 classes, one at thirty, the other 15. So summoner will be ACN and some unknown. Most people think it will be Thaumaterge, however I think it will be Conjurer because in most other FF games with the job system the white mage usually went into summoner.

Well this is just bull shit.
Doing that quest where you have to protect that tree from all these axils or whatever. I hate that it lowers your level down so much. I keep hitting the lesser ones until the two healers come in, but then I just can't kill them.
Every time they get low health, they almost instantly heal each other.
