Oh man the beta forums are a mess, people canceling preorders over the FFXIII cross over event, literally some guy filmed a video of him canceling his gamestop preorder, then smashing a moogle statue onto his desk. The FF community is one of the saddest communities I've seen. I've seen some crazy threads since the alpha last November, but really this cuts the cake. Now people want Square Enix to include display options so they can disable seeing other peoples vanity gear.

I think the crossover is kind of silly, but I wouldn't go as far as canceling my pre-order or smashing a moogle on my desk. That's pretty extreme.

That said i had great fun this weekend, i was supposed to be productive yesterday but i spent the whole day on xiv :v: got to level 19 at like 90% and was hoping to kill ifrit but i was too tired last night. :c

It was me (Conj), a lancer tanking, a thaumaturge and an archer. the party wiped a few times because they couldn't avoid the HUGE AOE burst he starts doing early on in the fight, and couldn't [i]not[/i] stand in his fire breath despite our lancer trying to tank him to face away the winning round, the THM and ARC died pretty much instantly and me and the lancer sloooowly pushed through the round. Glad I had hi-ethers because I was down to like 30mp and the lancer was at near 5% health when ifrit died. Pretty good fight

How does this game compare to the original FF XI? I played that when it came out and greatly enjoyed it, read the other day that apparently it's gone to shit. I've also seen comparisons with this game and FF XII, can they be drawn? How? I really liked FF XII so that might be good. Genuinely curious about this game

Give it a shot for your self!

How often are the beta tests? I got all excited about playing but when I thought I was able to play I got disappointed. Sounds like once the next one is announced that day I'll bunker up in my room

I doubt P4 will start right away honestly, I expect there to be a gap timeframe of 1-2 weeks like they did between P2 and P3. It takes time for them to make changes, and go over all the feedback, I wouldn't expect Phase 4 until the end of July, just my two cents. Edit: Pretty much what Daj said above me is when I think P4 would probably start.

So is this shaping up to be good? because I really hope it is... Might even give the beta a try.

Out of game support is literally worse than aids. I still can't get my account info back, it's almost like they have noone working support.

For example, back in the prime of FFXI it was common for high-end Sea/sky LS's to have their accounts stolen. You have to put in a ticket for them to investigate your account stolen claim, but you have to continue paying the normal $12.95/month for the claim to remain active, which could take an indefinite amount of months, if you unsub it cancels the ticket. That is Square Enix support for you.
