Phase 3 is ending soon with a character wipe, so don't level too much
Phase 4 characters will carry over to release

word to the wise- as a healer in dungeons and boss/named mob encounters, conserve mana and focus on healing the group. as a non-tank, and especially healer, if you get attacked by mobs, run TO the tank, don't run circles. They (ideally) will take it off you.
I think making a "/p MY FACE IS BEING EATEN" macro button would be beneficial

it'll last you a good while too, granted you have a hat to match. I found a generic looking hooded robe (where it removes the hat) that had better stats than what I had for a while but finding a good headpiece again meant I would benefit from bringing it back. I'm at lv 21 with it and it's still better than quest gear

My brother got into the 3rd wave test yesterday. It could be because my graphics card is better than it was then, but graphically it seems a shit ton better than the original XIV was. He was in the beta back then and I was shocked at how much stuff was recycled from XI, yet it ran like utter garbage. XI ran perfectly for us back then.
Can't really comment much other than that as I didn't watch him play for more than a few minutes and what I was is currently my only observation.

Just went through Sastasha, that cave you have to go through for the It's Probably Pirates quest. Got to the area and quickly formed a 4-man party. Two gladiators, a marauder, and a conjurer.
Breezing through the dungeon, we finally come up to this room where the enemies seem to have engaged in some kind of brawl around their bar area. We were focused on killing three dudes just hanging out. Well, two of them were able to heal each other and we didn't kill them fast enough, so here comes like 7 or 8 more of these guys to try and kill us.
One of our party members managed to run away, while the rest of us killed stragglers. There was still at least 6 or 7 left over, and it was taking quite a long time and I was running out of healing juice, so I told someone to use their limit break.
They had no idea what the limit break was :v:
So I explain to them what it is and one of them finally pulls it off and ends up giving everyone a huge defense boost. Now I was able to focus on the enemies and cast some Stones and Aeros.
After we killed them all, we continued on to the boss, which we almost died at. I use "almost" kind of lightly, but at one point the boss managed to do some attack that brought most of us down to less than half HP. That's when I ended up using the limit break and healing everyone.
The boss wasn't too hard and was quite fun. I ended up getting some low-level hat and enjoyed the experience quite well. First party and dungeon I've done in FFXIV 2.0, and it was a good one.

So is this why everyone likes this version better than the first version? Because it has generic questing system and features like a traditional MMO? Honestly not seeing any potential in this game...

Since we found out that at least for the beta you can apparently have many characters and they are per world, made a whatever they call Human in this Highlander Gladiator named Henry Matassa. I'm on the Ultros US server. HUGE bonus points for there being an Ultros server. I'll actually get around to giving the game a shot past character creation in a little bit and probably post my dude.

Finished the main story for the beta. I've learned quite a few things that could have helped me before I finished it (like that god damn salvager keeping my chocobo).
Now I'm going to work on leveling up my Gladiator and become a Paladin.
