50$? You'll easily find it for 15-20$ at most.
I meant when it was first released. And also, where are you seeing it for 15-20?
So would i have to reactivate my account if it was deactivated? Nevermind. I reactivated it and wasn't charged anything.
I feel so stupid for buying this game on it's release date. I bought it for around 25 Pounds, and now it costs 5 Pounds at most places. Unfortunately it was an awful game on release - I stopped playing it about a month and a half in. Haven't played it since then, so I've no idea what the current state of it is. While I wanted something different to WoW, I figured it had become the norm for some features to be included in MMOs (Exclamation and question marks above heads, titles under NPCs' names so you know if they are trainers or vendors, the ability to jump (:saddowns:) etc. Unfortunately none of this was in FFXIV (when I played it).
I'm confused-- is the game free after purchasing now, or what?
At the moment, yes. These are the exact words that they used in an e-mail that was sent to customers:
We realize time is of the essence and are fully determined to provide our customers with quality service. It is because of this that we ask our customers to be patient until we are able to confidently present them with a concrete plan outlining FINAL FANTASY XIV’s new direction. The free trial period will be extended until that time.
As far as I know, they haven't released any official statement regarding the free trial period, or when it will be over, since then.
Ugh. I would definitely 100% get it if I wasn't afraid they would spring the monthly fee on me as soon as I get it.

I would definitely 100% get it if I wasn't afraid they would spring the monthly fee on me as soon as I get it.
Honestly, I would say that we have another 3-4 months, but that the monthly fee is going to come before Autumn. Just my opinion though. [editline]29th April 2011[/editline] Just go ahead and try it out. It's ridiculously cheap at the moment. Try it so you won't wonder all year what it's like!
I would, but then if I get really into it and they spring a monthly fee, I'd be screwed, because I can't afford it.
I would, but then if I get really into it and they spring a monthly fee, I'd be screwed, because I can't afford it.
They can't spring it without an announcement.
Yeah, and if I liked the game, I would still have to quit it because I wouldn't be able to afford it. Lose-lose situation. :crying:
If you cant affoard 10-15$ monthly fee you wont affoard the game to begin with.
Well when the game is only $10-15, I can afford it as a one-time payment, as I rarely ever buy games. Can't afford monthly fees, though.
Have you guys seen that arcanist GM that popped up in Ul'dah recently, did a few buffs to folks nearby, then vanished? Some weird things have been going on recently that's for sure. :tinfoil:

What if the GMs play as these "archons" that are supposed to be coming forth. And they lead us into war/battle, controlled by SE employees. That would be something new for MMOs, I hope they do something like this.
Apparently the GMs ingame have something to do with the 6th sun going down and the 7th moon going up And patch 1.18 too I bet.
Kind of in a tough corner now. I decided to go Gladiator with armourer/Blacksmith/miner on the side. However I don't have any gear for any of those classes (still walking in my beginner clads). Where am I supposed to get some reasonable miner/blacksmith/armorer gear so I can make Gladiator items?
Market Wards in Ul'Dah
Market Wards in Ul'Dah
already figured that out for a bit. Armorer, miner and blacksmith rank 10 and gladiator rank 17. Without a shield.
New Letter from the Producer. Changes are looking good, I'm especially excited about the Ifrit battle.
This game has the most fucked up market ever. Copper/rusted/anything r10-r20 is extremely expensive while stuff like chainmail of r30 is cheap as dirt.
I've heard bad things about this but it seems to be getting better. I'm probably getting this tomorrow but what server should I pick? :ohdear:
I've heard bad things about this but it seems to be getting better. I'm probably getting this tomorrow but what server should I pick? :ohdear:
Pick lindblum. It's where all the cool kids went when the game started and it's where all the cool kids still hang out. [editline]23rd May 2011[/editline] Also levelling thaumaturge right now. It bothers me that I can survive easier as a caster than as a fucking gladiator.
Cure feels so weak compared to sacrifice.
Thaums are sort of overpowered to be honest. I think the casters in general need to be sorted out, it's pretty ridiculous how you use the same amount of MP to cure one person as you do the entire party.

Only difference was that the heal got spread.
Plus having skills like cure, sacrifice, protect, shell, stoneskin and shock spikes is very useful for when you solo.
Just so you know, Impish Incantations hurts like a motherfucker
I have a question. If I add another character to my account is it free for the present moment like a first character?
You know what, never mind. I think I'll go back to XI to play a FF MMO again. It pisses me off that the war classes can't craft or that I don't know how to/haven't found out how/don't even think it's possible. And I sure don't think you can switch disciplines. I don't want to pay more money a month for a second character when the sub time comes just to synth when it wasn't even necessary in XI. :frown:
