So, is anyone here familiar with the naming conventions of the races? I was wondering if "Benjamin" or a variant is compliant with the Midlanders naming conventions. :v:

Already knew of those, but I didn't really want to just sit there pressing "generate" until indefinitely to see if Benjamin came up. But apparently since its origin is Hebrew, it's not technically lore-compliant, since Midlander names are Anglo-saxon/Celtic/Briton in nature. Closest I'm gonna get is Benedict, I guess.

Yeah, I'll probably end up saying fuck it and using it anyway. Or just Ben. Now I just need to think of a surname, since mine is extremely Germanic, to the point that I can't pass it off as English. :v:
jiggu gave me shit for using naming conventions for my catgirl because he's a turbonerd http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Hyur/Naming
My friend and her friend are both following naming conventions (for Miqo'te females) and guilted me into it since we're all gonna be playing together. fuck those turbonerds that nay-say
Yeah, fuck you jiggu
So I guess we're only allowed one character per server. This really disappoints me because I kind of wanted to create a new character on the same server. I don't mind paying an extra dollar or two for having another character, but I would like it if both were on the same server where my friends will be at.

I had like, 8 characters on the same server in beta. Are they really making it so we can only have one?
I think it's one character per server, up to 8 characters.
The fuck, man? Squeenix, you were on such a roll.
Someone started a thread asking about it on the beta test forums, but people quickly avoided the actual question and started talking about monthly prices and stuff. So I'm still really confused.
Where are you guys getting this from? http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/product/ says you can have 8 per server and 40 across all. [editline]4th August 2013[/editline] Oh derp, that's the entry price that's 1 per server. [editline]4th August 2013[/editline] Yeah unless you pay 15$ a month, you're not getting more than 1. The only way you can get more than 1 for the 13$ is if you do bi-annual. [editline]4th August 2013[/editline] BUT unless you just want a different look, you shouldn't need more than 1 character per server anyways.
So I CAN have more than one per server if I pay a little extra? I'll have to think about that some more.
BUT unless you just want a different look, you shouldn't need more than 1 character per server anyways.
despite the whole 'you can be everything' thing, I want to have at least two separate characters. One to be my main fighter dude (probably archer main), the other to focus on magic, primarily as conjurer.
The beta forums have been fun to read since last week. The entire tone of the forum has changed from "FFXIV ARR IS (Too easy, hard, boring, nothing new, etc) and will fail to, OMG EQNEXT IT WILL DOMINATE THE MMO MARKET AND EVERYTHING ELSE WILL FAIL. I'm kind of glad the actual FFXIV forums are locked to people who only played in 1.0, as there are a major lack of troll threads every hour. In all seriousness, in case anyone forgot, you can register your early access preorder code this Thursday. You'll probably receive an email instructing how to do so. For those of you wondering how SE plans to implement your character re-customization once launch hits. You'll receive an item in the mail, Phantsia or something. It allows you to re-create your character the next time you're on the login screen. Its non-tradable or mailable and is expected to be a one time thing, at least we'll have barber shop in about 6~ months to change hair style and colors.

Full Beards for the Men & Breasts for the Women!" It's not as bad as, say, Elin from TERA, but it's still kind of weird.

Yeah, that too. Basically the gist is "these things are kind of cute but they're also just kind of weird and vaguely creepy looking in general." But I don't think Square will change an entire races model right before open beta. That would be a huge change, given the number of player-made Lalafell that will already exist thanks to the character creator, and all of the Lalafell NPCs they would have to change.
Looking forward to Open beta.
I think their lack of shape is a little offputting outside of being childish, they're so featureless without armor that they look like an inflatable traffic cone with arms
This was so true in FFXI with some of the taru head options, the imfamous "Cone head" tarus, god I miss that. Also reddit did a survey poll a week ago and its finally done with almost 9k submissions, gives a rough idea of whos playing what class, race, job, etc [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/b1G0BXB.jpg[/img_thumb]
So I plan on preordering from GameStop for the game case, but apparently people have been having trouble with getting early access codes from GS what do
So I plan on preordering from GameStop for the game case, but apparently people have been having trouble with getting early access codes from GS what do
Preorder from Amazon.
Preorder from Amazon.
Don't have a card right now I guess I'll just politely inform them if the code isn't on the receipt
So if I understood the roadmap, an open beta should start sometime between the 13th and 20th. Although I don't think there has been an official announcement yet... I don't suppose someone can shed some light on this?
Well damn, since it's 1 character per server, I don't know which I'll make first. My cool as hell Miqo'te or my kawaii as hell Lalafell. Also, have this silly name from one of the generators earlier.
