Anyone know any possible reason for that once my launcher has downloaded about 2gb of the patch, the download speed drops to under 0.5mb/s and doesn't come up?
Reseting the launcher wont help, it downloads the same 2gb and drops to under 0.5mb/s again.
I've just recently started looking at this and I'm interested in Phase 4, but do I need to register before it starts? I don't think I ever signed up for the beta so I'm not sure how this one works.

I've read that you can register tomorrow or saturday for phase 4 if you didn't register before 30th of last month

I'm not sure, however I think phase 4 is an open beta. So assuming i'm right, if you register now and download the client, you'll be able to start playing the beta on the 17th.

Yeah, after looking around I think I finally found the registration site, which is down and says will be back up the 16th or 17th. I don't understand why they would keep it closed till after it starts, there's going to be tons of people trying to register at the same time.
So is Gilgamesh going to be the most populated server? Anyone here going to play on it?
I think the redditors and ganging onto Gilgamesh as far as i've seen, that said the FFXIV sub-community in reddit seems a little more mature than the usual reddit crowd.

Gigalmesh - Non-legacy reddit server, Everyone's favorite exploiter Kripparrian is joining Gilgamesh, Also official unofficial RP non-legacy server
Sarganatas (Legacy) - Reddit legacy server, gamefaqs(?) legacy server, Giantbomb Legacy server, My legacy server (Yeah boi!)
Hyperion (legacy) is the pretty much unofficial official hardcore endgame Legacy server
Balmung - Unofficial official Legacy RP server
Not sure about the rest, just what I've seen so far

God help your soul, I was so glad I was able to transfer off that server. It was literally the worst server I've ever been on since I was on the US-Illidian server in WoW, actually it felt like pretty much the same exact server :/ Hope you enjoy it with your friends, because the community was awful.

Bah, my friend was pretty adamant on not being on a Legacy. but ive seen the shenanigans you get up to in GW2 so i know ittle be a laugh :c
I'm kind inbetween the door of playing this or FF11 since I've grown quite in love with the latter one.
I'll switch over eventually when the time comes.

On another note, could someone explain me the difference between a legacy and non-legacy server? I'm not quite sure if I've understood the difference right.

Legacy servers are old servers that allow early importing of characters so the new economies can develop

But new players are able to roll on the legacy servers too, or are they locked for only 1.0 players for some time or permanently?
newly made characters, regardless of [I]account [/I]legacy status, are free to be on whichever server you like, it's only legacy [I]characters [/I] imported from 1.x that are restricted to new servers. Non-legacy accounts may make new characters on all servers, and it should be easily denoted which servers are fresh vs legacy.

I think Hyperion is going to end up being the FP server.
I would roll on Hype for the laughs, but my old FFXI Linkshell which did quite abit of endgame on Fairy > Slyph and who was also in 1.0, will be on Sarg. Its a really tight knit group with people all over the US and quite a few UK members. Plus I already begged for a few million gil from our resident rich person to help me powerlevel crafting!

She hits on everyone, its the same one from 1.0. same with the perverted Lafellel, they just made it flirt with everyone regardless of sex/race. If its the one I'm thinking of at least.
Slightly off topic, FFXIV related. The awesome sites XIVpad and XIVDB were just bought by ZAM network. To me this is a sad day. I refuse to use any ZAM network site, why? Because ZAM network is owned by Affinity Media, who once upon a time owned IGE, the huge infamous RMT (Real Money Trading) giant. Affinity Media made ad revenue off FFXI allakazam and several other MMORPG fan sites they had bought out, while at the same time making almost $50 million USD a year from RMT. This is a bit of a personal topic, because I had a premium account on FFXI Allakazam before it was bought by ZAM. Myself and hundreds of others canceled out accounts and left, because we wanted nothing to do with a company that had any affiliation to RMT. Affinity Media, ZAM's parent company no longer owns IGE, but I still refuse to use any of their sites, allakazham FFXI, wowhead, etc because I don't want to support a company who used to ruin the MMO experience for profit.
Anyone know if I'll be able to pre-order the game on 22nd and still get a early access key?
Started the download before I went to work, came home and the thing only downloaded for like an hour before stopping :v:
Hopefully it'll download over night while I'm asleep.
Got in, made character etc, then everything stops cause I can't connect to NA/EU servers..

Am I doing something wrong that I can't get in? I can't register for the beta, logging in through the client says there are no account services or something.
