So got Miner to 15 almost 16, now, farmed 200 copper ore, and almost 500 iron ore, been saving all the mats I need to just powerlevel blacksmithing to 20 then 50!

can i not download the client till open beta?? also what time does it start on the 16? i saw something saying 2am

Alright so I finally logged out after 20 levels (I feel that enough to know how the game feels). It's extremely grindy and the quests are uninteresting to say the least. Tried out several classes. The combat looks nice and feels responsive but the game feels extremely instanced due to the number of loading screens for "new areas" when they should just be one area. Overall, if you don't care about the game being Final Fantasy and the game looking impressive (except for the shadows, looks like someone turned the sharpness filter up to eleven and it looks terrible), that's really the only draw it has. I mean it's nice to play a game that takes place in a developed franchise (see Age of Conan/World of Warcraft/Star Wars Galaxies/Star Wars The Old Republic/Neverwinter/D&D:O/LOTRO) but I'd much rather play one of those games.

I got through 2 of the instances and dinged 20, it would be just a waste of xp to do any more of the mainstoryline quests, right? Since you can't get to an grandcompany or anything

Just got booted off Shiva and I can't get back in, 'world data cannot be obtained'. Yay.

Really surprised me that you can spend attribute points to different things on every class, for some reason I tought that they have shared attribute points

Man, the amount of stuff that they've just outright pilfered from old Final Fantasy games (Garland, Magitek, Judges, etc.) is both hilarious and awesome. I also thought that the whole "nobody can remember what happened before the calamity" is a pretty funny way to gloss over the old version of the game.

Apparently Comcast can't process payments either so I probably won't even get to play in the beta at all. Fucking peachy.

So I'm going to preorder the game from SE now, I'm confused since it didn't let me log on the store site with my square enix account, but it logged in with my email, I had to fill all my info in again. This happened to anyone else? Edit: Are EU people rolling on EU servers? I rolled on gilgamesh since a couple friends rolled there but I've met people mostly from USA, very few europeans

Dear Square Enix... All my friends and Guildmates are either in or trying to get into Gilgamesh. There a TONS of players trying to get into your servers. I know this is the first day of the Open Beta accessible to everyone but since you are not planning to wipe characters this pretty much is a head-head start. So we'd like to actually create characters on the servers with our friends so we can play together. So would you kindly [B]RAISE THE FUCKING SERVER CAPS ALREADY?!?!?![/B]

Once the game is released and people can get their server transfers, I'm sure a lot of the servers will be opened up. Right now, I would say just work on your characters and farm lots of gold. Probably wouldn't hurt trying to get most classes to level 20 either.

It's going to be the FP server apparently

Hyperion is going to be the FP server. Server transfer isn't free. You have to reserve so many days and you get a server transfer pass (as well as some other goodies). I think you have to pre-purchase 60 days or something. So yeah, if you just started the game, you could always wait for Hyperion to open up, otherwise start a character, get working, and then reserve your 60 days and transfer over.

They obviously didn't intend it because they said something a long the lines of "if you want to play with friends go to the same server because once you pick one that character won't be able to switch." I'd link the exact quote but the beta fourms aren't loading for me atm. EDIT: And just saw your above post. Where did they say there would be transfers? I find no info on that.
