Assuming there will even be server transfers. They obviously didn't intend it because they said something a long the lines of "if you want to play with friends go to the same server because once you pick one that character won't be able to switch."
I'd link the exact quote but the beta fourms aren't loading for me atm.
EDIT: And just saw your above post. Where did they say there would be transfers? I find no info on that.
It seems like it might not come with reserving a certain amount of days. But yeah, server transfers will happen.

Well that's odd since on the character creation page it literally says when you're picking the server: "Once you have chosen a World, you will not be allowed to move to another, so if you have made plans to play FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn with friends, make sure that you all select the same one."
Conflicting much?
Doesn't matter anyway I give up trying to get into Gilgamesh for beta. Its almost over anyway and this Sunday is impossible for me due to real life so I'll just wait until headstart, even though most of my friends are gonna be 15-20 lvls ahead of me.
Fuck you Square Enix
I'm confused on what to pre-order if I want to get early access. I'm already a legacy member, so I'll get the standard edition for free, but I'm not sure how I can upgrade that.
Their website says there's a Collector's Edition upgrade for $19.99, but I don't know where to find it at, or if that's the one I want.

After some confusion, it seems I don't have to pre-order to get early access.
I've been without a solid internet connection the past few days but I finally got on today to start setting up and it turns out that, despite not apparently qualifying for legacy before, my 1.0 characters were waiting for me in my character selection screen, giving me the option to change their appearances
also my old server was apparently Hyperion. Something tells me I followed the same friends to that server back in the day
I've been 3102'd for almost 24 hours now. I only got to play until level 6 before I got the error.
If anyone was wondering, 3102 is the error that caused them to close their forums down. So many people were posting about it (about 4 pages every 30 seconds) that you couldn't load anything.
full world erbrbrbr

Hyp is the same right now.
was in for only a few minutes before I lost connection to the server

Game keeps crashing for me in the Lancer monster areas. It's just a sudden FPS drop and then bam.
Hyp is always full because back in 1.0 it was the most populated server, when the server mergers happened a lot of people still transferred off dead realms and moved to Hyperion, by far it probably has the highest 1.0 character population out of the gate.
Wow so apparently I'm still logged in from playing over 12 hours ago and need to wait a few moments for the logout process to complete. Apparently "A few moments" = over an hour now.
Alternatively, it says to contact support if problems persist. But we know how that goes.

Oh so the forums are being flooded with this shit.
If the world server transfers happen soon after release, and Hyperion is still super full, we might need to change to a different server.
That beta forum whining at its finest

I like the guy who's surprised about it being subscription-based.
Granted, I too would be much more likely to get it if it was like Guild Wars but haven't the subs been known for fucking ages?
Yes, its been stated as far back as 2012 that the reboot of FFXIV would still have a sub fee.
Also off topic but I'm going to do a time lapse video later tonight while I have nothing better to do!
Just had a round of level 30 PvP.
It's actually pretty fun. We had two white mages on our team (me being one), an archer, and a bard I think. We ended up wiping the other team. It's also really cool because you play with people from other servers. I had a couple people from Hyperion play on my team. It's really neat.
how's the pace of the fight feel?
The archer ended up getting 3 kills, and the bard 1.
White mage is OP because they can cast Sleep on everyone and if someone gets too close, just push them away and bind them with that water spell :v:
Ya its really OP how you can put DoT's on people and then sleep them, the DoTs still do damage and won't wake them up!
how's the pace of the fight feel?
The arena is pretty big, so there's lots of room to run around. I don't think the fight lasted more than 5 minutes, so it felt pretty good.
Another thing to note is, if the enemy isn't in your line of sight, you can't cast spells on them. So if you're in mid-cast, and they run behind a wall, your cast will become interrupted.

Got to 20 MRD, 20 GLD, 10 FSH, and 10 CLN. Should I feel bad that I've done nothing else weekend? I just hope they don't end up wiping the servers.
I'm still a bit disappointed by the summoners pets they seem kinda lame which is a shame since I wanted to roll one
and holy fuck i need to get my computer so i can finally play this

Skip to 3:04 to look at FFXI's summons. I guess the reasoning behind such lame summons in FFXIV is that you only obtain a fragment of the primal you kill, and only summon that small fragment.

yea I XI had awesome summons, which is why I was even more disappointed at what they did with XIV :/
it's a shame because I was expecting summoner to be like XI so I was excited to roll one, but now I'm just sort of put off by it. Oh well
As a fellow SMN from FFXI, I am upset and relieved(?) at the same time. There were quite a few summons that SE said they would never give to players, then years later gave them to players anyways. I believe the most controversial one was Diabolos, that one stirred the pot completely.
Going to give this game a try (currently installing as we speak). I like me some Final Fantasy, but what might sound silly is that the latest Final Fantasy game I've played was 10. So, going into this, anything interesting that I should know of aside from the fatigue system? Is the battle system different from FFX and below? Are the people in the community in general good? Do I have to travel loooong distances between towns or quest destinations?

Fatigue system is gone, OP is like 3 years out of date, I honestly think we should get a Mod to let someone edit it, or delete this thread and create a up-to-date thread, so people aren't getting misinformation. Traveling is pretty easy, you can teleport across the world.

You'll be staying in your starting city until around level 15 I think it is. Then you'll get to ride the Airship which will take you to the two other cities.
From there, you can touch the giant crystals and then teleport between each one for a little bit of gold.
Going for an Archer Lalafell, got past the intro...
Lost connection to Siren's world, can't connect back, right now.
Great start. ._.
But the game looks pretty as hell.
