It's a shame you're not on Hyp. :(
You could always transfer in a couple of weeks! That, or just re-roll Gilga! Doesn't take all that long to get up to 20 anyway.
We decided on Gilga a long time ago. Kind of wish we would have chosen differently now, because Gilga was crowded as hell during phase 4. Either way, we are all on there, and most of us maxed out our intended classes in phase 4.
As for the mumble server I mentioned, I will make a Facepunch (Non-Gilgamesh) channel. That way anyone here on Facepunch that needs a voice chat can use the server. I have it set to 100 people, but my connection can handle a lot more than that. So basically, use it liberally!
Anyone have a rough idea on server populations during the beta? I don't want to end up on a dead server and then having to reroll/transfer. Btw I'm going for NA
they're all going to be jam packed at release, there wasn't even room in the beta and they had to add more servers so that's nothing to really judge by
That said my justification for rolling on a legacy server is that is that i would think there would be much more player retention on those servers, compared to the new ones. I'd rather queue than be on a dead server any day.
Legacy servers only available for those who played the original FFXI?

The original FF14.
GUIS GUIS GUIS!!!! Final Launch build is up, Rev up your FFXVI ARR launcher, and download the 1GB Launch patch!
Ugh, this sucks being a non-legacy returning player. I'm basically part of the only group that doesn't get early access.
despite the kinda-legacy thing happening last week I never got an official confirmation on it, and it's denying me the access without an early start code
who's bright idea was it releasing on a week day

Not sure, but it starts Saturday. Which only means that tomorrow the servers are going to get just fucking hammered. Beta forums are gone, but the new FFXIV ARR forums are up, I expect there to be thousands of people bitching about servers crashing, and stuff.

All you have to do to get early access this Saturday is pre-order the game. Early access has nothing to do with legacy. If you pre-order from Square Enix's site, you get your code immediately, can download the client, and you get access Saturday morning.
I cannot wait to get me hands on the (boxed) collectors edition, £40 is a bargain for the ammount of stuff you get with/in it.

Being a non-legacy returning player means we already have the game bought. We just didn't subscribe for 3 months. There's no reason to pay $40 for a game that we already own just for 3 days of early access.

But why would I buy the game again?
I'm all patched and ready for Early Access
ARE YOU HYPED MOTHERFUCKERS
so i bought it from GMG a few days ago, is the first key you input for early access or is that code just get access to the other code?
i'm still trying to work out why i'm having region trouble, but SE's support is completely swamped
if i were just to make another account would i be able to redeem the second code that i got after inputting the code from GMG?

Ah, this better explains it for me. That is shitty they are not giving you guys early access.
EDIT: I just did some reading, and apparently there are some idiots out there pre-ordering from Amazon then cancelling their order. Basically, Amazon does not charge you for the game until the day it's released, the 27th. However, if you pre-order, they email you the early access code immediately. People are using the code, and then successfully cancelling the order. I'm curious to see how that is going to pan out for them.

The first code is used to generate your early access code. The first code is 18 characters in a 6-3-6-3 format. The early access code is 20 characters in a 4-4-4-4-4 format. I wouldn't try doing it on another account, you may end up screwing yourself.
ya i'll just wait and see what the support has to say, hopefully they can get it sorted out
This Legacy 1.0 Vs Non-legacy 1.0 Early access has been brought up a lot ever since the full details of early access has been discussed.
The whole Early Access issue was handled poorly. The main issue was that there was a lack of communication, for the longest time, a lot of the information lumped both 1.0 account owners and Legacy players as both being "Legacy". So it was to the surprise of a lot of people later on when they found out that only Legacy account holders and not All 1.0 account holders got early access. It was poorly communicated to fans, but mostly what confused people was why they didn't just give it to ALL 1.0 players and then pre-orders, It just doesn't make sense. So both legacy and non-legacy players have the game, but if you want early access you have to buy the game again, that is what mostly confused and irritated a lot of the community.

What constitutes being legacy/non-legacy? I never played the original atrocity after seeing it's beta, so I don't really know, nor have I cared to know until now.

Legacy account holders paid for 3 months of FFXIV 1.0 starting in 2012. If you paid for 3 months, you were given Legacy status.
Everyone else who Paid $60 for FFXIV 1.0, and registered their account, and did not subscribe for 3 months in 1.0 are just normal 1.0 players, do not get the legacy benefits, and no early access.
wow i just waited for an hour to get chat support and when it was finally my turn it said there is no one available
wtf seriously

ok since SE support doesn't want to talk to me apparently, can you guys just tell me if this is what you see as well?

because it says registered there but when i go here

there is nothing
Which classes do I need for Archer and Monk now?
So I forgot about the whole early access until this morning, so I went over to the store I pre-ordered it from and they haven't received any word about in-store pre-orders. I haven't received any emails, so they suggest I phone their support line which is monday to friday only. I hope the code(if I get it) will still work on monday.
Should I try contacting SE or just wait until monday? I'll also be playing it on PC if that helps.

I dont know if other places did the same thing, but I know amazon stopped giving out Early Access codes on the 22nd or 23rd.

I just got one from amazon, so they're still giving them out. But, this Error 3 just won't go away even with the fixes.

Yeah, there's no way I'd pay 30$ just for a couple days of earlier access. I don't view MMOs as a race.

All I did was follow this; https://greenmangaming.zendesk.com/entries/25455913-Final-Fantasy-XIV-UPDATE-20-8-13
Mine shows up under registered games.
If that link doesn't help at all then I got no idea.
