Wow so I finally got to join a party in progress, and they had just started so I didn't miss much.
End up dying fairly quick. Those flying ladies inside are resistant to sleep which threw me off. Long story short, our Tank was pretty shitty. Wouldn't pull mobs and he had a very low HP pool compared to a guy that came in to replace him.
This part may have been my fault, but I ended up falling down a staircase and attracting like 3 other enemies, which they followed me back up. We started to get killed pretty quickly, and for some reason they dragged the monsters back to the spawn point. This is when our tank left and we fended for ourselves.
We ended up dealing with the enemies and progressed through the dungeon. We got through two sealed off areas pretty easily. As we were finishing up our 2nd sealed off area, a new tank came in.
This guy had almost 2000hp. We basically breezed through the dungeon after that.
Is this one just as "Difficult" and team based as FFXI?
That's what I loved about XI, how some bosses spawned like once a week, and could drop incredibly rare items.

So how are people supposed to know if there are openings for a server? I've been trying to connect to a server for a while now, but it keeps kicking me back to the main menu. What happened with the queue system?

you don't, all you can do is hammer the join button over and over because the queues are really weird and won't let you in a majority of the time

he has to manually add you by clicking your name either if he has you selected in-person, or has you in his friends list. It'll show "Invite to Facepunch" on his options

I'll transfer to Hyperion when I can though probably.
I've heard rumors that you won't be able to transfer to legacy servers but there doesn't seem to be any evidence one way or another.
I did manage to get on Sargantas or whatever, so that's good I guess.

granted this example is a JP legacy to NA/EU legacy server, I'd say this is legit evidence we'll be fine. Legacy characters are stuck to legacy servers, no other character should be restricted to or from servers, albeit legacy servers may have population issues longer than new servers simply out of principal

Well then I'll stop wasting time trying to roll on Hyperion and just start playing and xfer eventually.

a lot of random servers have re-opened, but for a number of hours yesterday all were shut down for creation. our hopeful server of choice has been taking the brunt of it and has been pretty much closed since early release

So I tried to do a level 16 instance thing with that massive turtle your supposed to trap. In the description it states "Keep it alive and lure it over to the burnt herbs" etc. Guess what my team does? They go and fucking kill it, even after several popups stating to lure it backwards. Now I'm locked out of instances for 15 minutes :suicide:
man this "try to login again and again" dlc i bought is really great i've put so many hours into i highly reccomend it $30 is a little steep but i mean if you liked gone home you'll probably like this as it tells a very similar and compelling story
it's a little buggy though, be warned. occasionally i get this weird glitch where i actually get into the game. yeah, i know, that's crazy isn't it???

actually useful advice maybe:
dunno how many of you know this but if you're trying to get in and are tired of having to click with you mouse and moving your mouse and all that taxing and tiring shit you can just mash numpad 0 with numlock on and it'll act like a controller. just be careful because bindings may be different. or use an actual controller
I wrote a script that will spam num0 and you can use it with ffxiv minimized.
