Game is quite hard to get into, i finished the main quest in the town (Grid something) im in, i'm archer 6 level 4, went exploring and got killed not sure what to do :v:

Complete leves, they'll give you basic weapons/equipment as rewards.

I've been playing this but right now I find it quite disappointing, could someone enlighten me on the good in it, a quick scan here has let me know you are some good players doing well, any pointers as to how and why?
My opinions as an XI fan is that the battle systems/party system is poor, it's different which is the point of a "new" game, but having to stand right next to someone for a heal that could end up getting you killed instantly by mistake is rather harsh, especially for new players.
The auction house/Mog houses on XI were really nice features, the AH being more essential and it not being on XIV is frustrating really, also the split Physical Level/Rank Level is a bit tacky.
Does anybody know of updates to come?

They're removing physical level soon, and imo I don't really mind the market wards function since it's now essentially the same thing as the AH aside from actually having to go to the retainer that's selling the item you want. And the heal that kills you by mistake is because buff skills generate a lot of enemity from what i've seen, you just have to know when to use skills like that so you don't get MPKed and stuff.
Also to do well as a player imo, you need to be a team player and join a good linkshell since you'll find sp/leve parties more easily that way.

I know of it having to be timed, but still in comparison the battle system is a bit off, and I would love to join a linkshell/party, but for example my Mother, sister and brother prefer to play on their own, particularly my Mum, I have grown accustomed to it also but I would still like to join the group stuff. By saying that I mean the game was suppose to be a solo game for those who wanted and whilst that's still possible it is difficult and confusing.

Uldah is where everyone goes so that town would be your best bet. Also, 1.19 release date was just announced, Sept 30th.

Also the patch notes were just released, so many great changes! The only thing I'm a tad worried about is the whole "If you're all in the same grand company for the Ifrit fight you'll get better rewards" because after all, those few people who choose the GC that isn't Ul'dah might well be refused parties.

Trying to run this game on max.. received a big NOPE in my face.

It's certainly heaps better than it was at the start, that's for sure.
Question for you patch 1.22ers, who's beaten Garuda yet and how challenging did you find it?
Have they finally started charging for this ?
