I somewhat expected to obtain the Monk gear through dungeons, but I guess not: [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7939899/Images/Final%20Fantasy%20XIV%20A%20Realm%20Reborn/ss%20%282013-09-02%20at%2011.05.47%29.jpg[/t] Got headpiece, gloves, legs and feet from a single quest. Body piece is obtainable from my last Monk quest at lvl 50.
this explains what I was curious about last night then, that the class armors are more "yay you completed the class" rather than endgame high end stuff
It's why I picked the largest bust size for my Miqo'te :V
Breast physics and bust slider!? Sign me up. No, but seriously, I may consider buy this. How is it compared to WoW, Guild Wars 2, TERA, etc? I love Final Fantasy, but will I love it as an MMORPG?
Started a second character on Moogle for the time being. Hate having to wait until 3 in the morning just to get on my main.
I wish I could have the map displayed on my secondary monitor.
yea that would be nice. For now I have it look like this when I press [M] (or click on the minimap) [t]http://i.imm.io/1gZu8.jpeg[/t] fullscreen transparent minimap :v: i also rearranged my UI a little after using through a couple of instanced dungeons [t]http://i.imm.io/1gZuu.jpeg[/t] my goal is to compact as much information onto the screen as possible without obstructing my view too much. I still don't know what to do with the top left corner of the screen though.
[t]http://i.imm.io/1gZuu.jpeg[/t]
Ew. I could NOT stand that.
this explains what I was curious about last night then, that the class armors are more "yay you completed the class" rather than endgame high end stuff
The AF gear you get from your class is mostly being refered to "Blue class gear" from what I've seen now The actualy AF +1 /AF2 whichever you like to call it, is going to be time consuming to earn. From what I've been told loosely by people in my guild, you need 1200 of one item that can drop from level 50 dungeons and level 50 primal fights. Supposedly they drop in low amounts, so they are keeping a grind. Yoshi-P said something along the lines of 1-50 is one giant tutorial to get you ready for endgame at 50. Also the relic weapon quest requires a level 50 crafter, craft you weapon which requires quite a few rare mats. I've seen level 50 crafter's offering to craft them for 300k, I'm going to assume thats just the tip price. All in all, the real meta game starts at 50, the level 50 primal Ifrit fight is a joke, you can beat it in level 40 gear, it is meant to prepare you for the rest of the level 50 content and the other level 50 primals which are much harder. I meant to add, that is just for the white unfinished relic, then after that you get to do fun 8man group stuff and either have your FC do it with you, or like everyone else shout in the zone lol
I still can't even login into Goblin. and it still can't update the NA/EU server list sometimes... seriously they need to fix this!
Ew. I could NOT stand that.
well it's meant for a healer, and the main things a healer needs to worry about are (in order): - health of party members - status effects of party members - positions of everyone (party/mobs/yourself) - status effect of current enemies (if you can debuff) - MP - recast time of skills - the party complaining about how bad of a job you're doing FFXIV's party window, and enemy window, double as selection targets. You can click on someones name in the windows and automatically target them. So I wanted to make them not only easy to see, but quick to click on. The minimap is near the bottom-center of the screen, so you can easily see the positions of your party members at a glance. It's also really easy to use a scrollwheel on it to zoom in and out. The chat at the bottom is my own personal preference, because I like having everything separated. I would have made them smaller vertically, but unfortunately that's the smallest they can possibly go. The only thing i'm thinking of changing at this point is swapping the target window, with the limitbreak window. (Target window is inbetween the space where limitbreak and parameter bar is) Currently the limit break is just kind of floating in the middle of the screen whenever I don't have something targeted, and it would make more sense to have it directly underneath my parameter bars. I wish I could change the orientation of the limit break bars to be vertical, rather than horizontal, so I could fit it in the top left corner though. The enemy panel pops up slightly to the left of the left-most portion of the quest/duty window. Again, for easy selection of enemies without covering up a large portion of my view. And again, I wish I could make it expand upwards for each enemy, rather than the default of expanding downwards. ---- after so many years of playing MMOs, this is just what i've gravitated towards. I wish this game had as much UI customizability as everquest, but i've given up hoping for that long ago.

my question is why you traded the tiny little circles menu with submenu'd logs and such for two full skillbars, and have classes macro'd or whatever to the sides. Is there a way to macro in different layouts? that'd be kickass I prefer to minimize used space in favor of important stuff. I didn't know you could rip chat tabs out til yesterday, which is cool, but I'm not sure I'd keep them permanently deployed. When I played conjurer during beta I did end up pulling the party menu toward my center of focus so I could manage it better
FFS are you serious? It's 11 am on a non-holiday weekday and I still can't get on?
FFS are you serious? It's 11 am on a non-holiday weekday and I still can't get on?
it's a bit more understandable for the few of us on EU servers, since school should be out by now. Maybe there's a lot of EU'ers on US servers, eh?
Due to unprecedented demand, Square Enix has chosen to temporarily halt sales of the digital download version of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn as they work to enhance their online server capabilities. Please note that this does not affect users that have already purchased the digital download version or those who wish to purchase the physical retail version.
Come on!
Just get the physical retail version you won't even be able to join any servers until tomorrow
Titan downed with only one wipe, first wipe too :v: Poor healer took a landslide right to the face.
I didn't get on early enough, now I can't get in.. for once. D:
oh okay

I was planning on removing it once I had all of the hotkeys down for it. I keep switching between using the mini dropdown menu in the top left corner of the screen, and having them in the hotbar. It's only 5 clicks in total to swap them out so it's not that big of a deal macro layouts: no. Only hotbars per class. You can share hotbars between classes though. The 3 on the right side are shared. The 2 on the left aren't. The class bars are shared as well classbars: it was annoying having to do these steps to change into my full outfits for class: - press C to open char menu - click on gear list icon - click on desired class to switch to - click "equip" - click "yes" (it requires confirmation right? i can't remember) obviously you don't need to change classes very often, but i had the space for it so I figured I would put some on the side.

I actually want to try this game out, but the purchase thing confuses me, if I live in a non listed european country, which country do I choose in the purchase section? [editline]fuck[/editline] Never mind, I actually figured it out, a shame they halted digital sales though so I'd have to wait till they take care of that.
So uhm, digital sales should be starting back up on Amazon right about now if anyone's been waiting. Hopefully this means the same for others soon. I was kind of expecting sales to wait until at least a couple days after the expansion/maintenance just in case, but what do I know heh.

I can't even play right now and they're already going to open sales back up? What if the expansion doesn't fix this? [editline]3rd September 2013[/editline] I'm not overly optimistic about this maintenance to begin with. [editline]3rd September 2013[/editline] Seriously, if I get another 1017 error after tonight I'm going to be pissed
if last week is any indication, any new sales will be funneled into the expansion servers anyways
I know everyone's pissed about 1017 and not being able to get in but it's been a very smooth launch. They obviously have things under control, when you do get in the game is stable. 1017 is a player cap they put on the servers, not an actual error. Once they raised the player limit after the maintenance everything is going to be fine, even with more players. Also I've been able to log in every day since launch. Some days it has taken ~45 minutes to get there but that's what happens when so many people want to play.
So i just got this game on a friend's recommendation, apart from the servers being spotty at best, anything i should know starting out?
- you can swap between any class you want to on a single character, so alts are pointless unless you want a different appearance (edit: or if you want to play on another server). You need to complete a ~lvl 10 quest to get the ability to cross-class though. So you can max out every class on a single character, basically (although it will take a while). - Linkshells are custom chat channels. Free companies are guilds. Grand companies are NPC factions. - You can't do crafting until you unlock cross-classing at ~lvl 10. - After you've attuned yourself to the aether crystals at various towns, you can use the "teleport" skill to teleport to any one of them for a small fee.
they pick the strangest times to do anything. the server upgrade especially. i'll never understand how square enix works.
square enix doesn't understand how square enix works
