ah right forgot to include that.
the stat benefits are so minor that by the time you're at the end of the game it's negligible. a +3/4 attribute bonus to a stat or two is absolutely nothing when you're level 50. Unless you're a min-maxer and want that extra 10 damage when you're playing certain races, it's a far better idea to just choose the race you have the most fun playing as.

aaah forgot one more thing.
after you reach level 10(?) for a particular class, you start getting attribute points for that class that you can pump into stats. As far as i'm aware the attribute increases are only active when you're playing as that class. So each class can distrubute their points however they want without affecting the other classes on the same character.
it's essentially like having 20+ alts all without having to log out and back in, where instead all you have to do to change between them is change your active weapon.
Which Grand Company is best for a Marauder?
downside to multiple characters besides having to log back and forth for them: your friends list and customized settings (including keybinds which I am ALL ABOUT) are reset. One thing I really think needs fixing is making your [i]account[/i] act as an account, not each character.

as far as i'm aware all grand companies are identical, except for their "beliefs", story and colors. So choose the one you like best.

I should add onto this, the grand companies allow you to leave and join a different grand if you change your mind, and there's one or more achievements related to something in each GC last I checked

i had to make sure the inside of the shirt was modeled and not see through like you see in most games ya
Anyone made much progress on any crafts? Feels extremely tedious and I've only got leatherworking to 15.

Got to 7 armorsmith before I said 'fuckit' for now. Got my marauder to 15 and Lancer to 32 with the Dragoon specialization. Those 15 levels as another class were hell, because I had literally done every quest possible while leveling my Lancer :v:

yeah, I would rather have another way to level a new combat class, hunting logs only get you so far, leves are underwhelming and fate grinding is rather lame.

Fate grinding is the most worthwhile method, since you get like a 50% armory exp boost without any other exp boosting items (food, etc)

I found out that going from 10-15 is really fast if you just grind fate's at Aleport. Took me like 2 hours to get the requirement for Dragoon that way.

I've gotten armorer up to 21 now and it's tons of fun. The only problem is it's really hard (or expensive) to be self-sufficient, as now I'm starting to rely on materials that I can't just buy from the merchants. I might have to pick up miner myself for ore. Even if I do that, I'll still need some sort of way to get leather, also, since most of my recipes are starting to require it.
I really want to get Weaver up to 50 so I can fuse my own materia with it.

idk just yet, i was thinking marauder/lancer as my primary stuff and then anything else i wanted i'd get along the way
maybe i'll try my hand at tank, don't know yet, servers went down when i was making my character
