As long as you don't post pictures/videos/talk about mechanics, you should be fine.

I can login on the site fine but not in the launcher :(.

It works now though. I changed to a very simple password and it worked.
Im blown away how GOOD the game is compared to the first version.
Beta only lasts until the 14th. Really sucks.
It's definitely improved hugely.
Even though I only got to play for a few hours in the beta last weekend I had a really good time with it. Let's hope the quality extends to the rest of the game.

Also, magitek!

Oh god those are amazing. My goal is to just hit 10 so i can give gladiator a go. love me some sword and board tank classes. :x
i just felt extremely underwhelmed.
I wanted it to like it.
So what server are you guys on

Feeling underwhelmed on a beta thats still in phase 2, that literally is the same a phase 1, which is pretty much the same as the alpha from Last November. For those of you new to the beta, the meat of whats truly being changed doesn't hit til phase 3.
The first two phases are purely polishing on some aspects of the game. (Phase 1 was extended 2-3 weeks after its original deadline for most polishing) Phase 3 adds pretty much all the jobs into the game, they begin import 1.0 characters into the beta for testing more areas and level cap are raised. All phase 2 added was gamepad support and minor tweaks. So for those of us who've been testing since last fall it is "underwhelming" considering almost none of the new stuff has been added in.
This game is months away from release and is nowhere near a release build as they haven't even updated the combat algorithms yet as they're the same ones from alpha and its been stated several times in the letters from the Devs that the the major changes hit in phase 3. So for those of you getting beta invites thinking this is a trial of the final product you're going to be solely disappointed.

Yes Glad was the only other job added, and they're updated the combat from 1.23 but its still the same combat algorithms or whatever they call it since alpha, so the feel of combat hasn't been changed yet. Honestly if you want a better example of how ARR will turn out wait for Phase 3.

I guess I'll try phase 3 as right now it just feels like a UI overhaul and terrible combat just with the skills looking flashier.
also i hope it ends up feeling like an actual world as first impression is quest hub spam

It's pretty damn smooth compared to the first version but it's still a bit sluggish when I think about it. I agree about the world as well.
holy fuck errand quests
[editline]12th April 2013[/editline]
How different is P2 from original release and ARR?
Namely, how is the combat going to change?

Basically the way combat works now using skills and TP use skills is going to be how it work, But how the actual combat flows mathematically, thus how fluid it feels hasn't been adjusted since the alpha last fall. So no one knows how its going to change until phase 3 hits, all we know is that they haven't actually changed how the combat system calculates as well has stats influencing it, at the moment ARR combat is just a heavily modified of 1.23
The beta forums are pretty annoying to navigate and a lot of the beta phase information has been outdated or changed so I'll try to find information on it and post it.
Edit: Not sure if think link will work
This is the beta roadmap, most of the information is outdated
Important thing to note, Once Phase 4 hits, they're going to carry phase 4 beta characters into FFXIV ARR when it goes live, so I'd suggest playing phase 3 to learn how everything works, then play Phase 4 if you want to get a edge up, and I want to say if you already had purchased FFXIV before you will not have to repurchase you just have to start resubscribing but they haven't said much on this officially, only hinted.

The Wandering Minstrel NPC in Phase 2
In order to utilize certain features in phase 2, the Wandering Minstrel NPC has been placed next to the Adders' Nest in New Gridania. After fulfilling certain requirements, players can use this NPC to unlock the gladiator class, obtain permission to join a Grand Company, and raise their level to 25. Players can also purchase gladiator swords and shields from this NPC.
* Updated 04/05/2013
Speak to one of the following NPCs after completing the quest "Spirithold Broken." Please note that your character must be a Disciple of War or Magic and below level 15.
Gladiator: Miriela (Buscarron's Druthers, South Shroud)
Lancer: Herluin (Hyrstmill, North Shroud)
Archer: Wlfric (Quarrymill, South Shroud)
Conjurer: Marinterre (Little Solace, East Shroud)
Please speak to the NPC corresponding to the class you wish to level.
Grand Companies
Because phase 2 is limited to Gridania and the surrounding areas, only the Order of the Twin Adder is available. Furthermore, some features are not yet implemented, such as promotions, company salutes, seal acquisition through the hunting log, and so forth.
Personal Chocobos
During phase 2, personal chocobos may only be used for transportation. Unlike rental chocobos, there is no time limit regulating how long you may remain on chocoback. However, planned features such as naming, customizing, and fighting alongside personal chocobos are not yet available.
Changes Planned Beyond Phase 2
The following is a list of changes that will be implemented in subsequent phases of the beta test or at a later date.
All instanced dungeons can be accessed through NPCs in phase 2. However, in later stages of the beta test, instanced dungeons will be accessed through the duty finder.
Because gear graphics are currently being converted to the new engine, some item names may not match their appearance. These items will be corrected following phase 2.
The ability to request repairs from other players will be implemented following phase 2.
The ability to dye gear different colors will be implemented following phase 2. In addition, the color of dyed gear will be indicated by its icon.
* Dyed gear has been implemented in phase 2. However, it can only be obtained through NPC vendors and quests.
Damage algorithms will undergo significant change following phase 2.
First time completion bonuses for guildhests will be implemented following phase 2.
Physics for gear, hair, etc., will be adjusted following phase 2.
Character creation options will be adjusted and expanded following phase 2.
Journal illustrations will be revised following phase 1.
Light animations will be adjusted.
Known Issues in Phase 2
* Known issues will be announced separately once phase 2 of the beta test commences.
As we prepare for the official release of A Realm Reborn, your feedback will be invaluable in helping us refine existing systems and newly-added features. We deeply appreciate your cooperation, and will continue our endeavors to provide a more enjoyable online experience.
I actually had a huge amount of fun this weekend
[t]http://i.imgur.com/eoK1TtD.jpg[/t]
Even won the bitchin' goggles in TTD.
Personally I didn't play at all this weekend due to not even having any quests to do.
So we gonna have a Facepunch world/linkshell when 2.0 goes live?
Sorry for bump, anyone else going to pre-order? I'm going tomorrow. I really liked the beta.
I think because i owned it previously don't i get a free month and it anyway? still, looking at the pre-order items some of it looks cool.
Players who own FFXIV version 1.0 will not need to purchase the PC version of FFXIV: ARR and will be able to download the FFXIV: ARR software for free. Looking through the page... they don't say that you get a free month just because you own the previous version.

I'm sure i read about the time alpha popped up people who bought 14 would get 30 days free as if i had bought the game. Still i'd drop 3 months if that isn't the case.
Still, whats everyone thinking about rolling? Paladin and Bard both catch my eye, i just can't pick between them.
I'm all for magic
Price is really good, hope phase 3 shows improvement though.
