Missed my chance AGAIN D:
Bumping this up for an upcoming surprise.
The game is pretty good but it's a little bit unpolished, i guess that's why it's in Beta.
ah, looks really interesting, just the sort of game i'd enjoy...I hope they make it an open beta soon
Bumping this up for an upcoming surprise.
Tell me what it is....
Well, it's out... Anyone try it yet?
Looks exatly the same as the free one, Aeronauts.
I love this game! Been playing it a lot, and it's pretty darn good! The flight controls are a bit oversimplified, as you have no control over roll, but after that initial disappointment, the game is pure gold. It's a fast-paced, arcadey aerial combat game. I don't think anything will ever top Crimson Skies as far as arcadey dogfighting action goes, but the spirit of that game shines through DogFighter. It's easy to see where their inspiration came from, and that is not a bad thing in the least! The game is still quite small, but the devs are actively working on new content, and even interact directly with their player-base in a way only indie developers can! Their suggestion forum is actually for more than show, as was proven to me when a gamemode suggestion I had made was taken for further review. Lovely to see such motivated developers. DogFighter is well worth the twenty dollar price tag, and with it being less than thirteen bucks in this first week, I see no reason NOT to buy it. Hell, I'm enjoying this game so much that I bought a copy for a friend. While DogFighter is a small game at the moment, the developers are working closely with the community and are motivated to create a much larger, more dynamic experience. DogFighter comes highly recommended in my book, both for what it already is, and what it has the potential to grow into.
From what I've played, it's very well thought out. Unfortunately, I really don't like the fact that there is pretty much no graphics altering possibilities. You can change the resolution and aspect ratio, and apart from things like Vsync, there really isn't anything to do about Anti aliasing, shadows, materials, models, etc, all of which, though not exactly crysis-level, can still lag up older or lower-end PCs. However, apart from that, (and the menu music which gets a little annoying after a while) it's a good game. Also, if you're not used to inverted mouse control, change that option. I kept smashing into the ground or going clear up into the sky.
I'd really like to try this game, but... The player base looks so small! I just can't shake the feeling I'd be playing with the same people over and over again.
Are there dedicated servers yet? The devs were talking about them but I'm not sure if they're in the full game yet.

Usually only four or five well-populated servers up at a time. With time, this will either improve or slowly die. I'm hoping for the former, because I totally dig this game, but even if it does end up dying, I only paid thirteen bucks. That's the price of popcorn and a movie. I'm definitely getting my moneys' worth.
They really should've released a multiplayer time limited demo as well, I'm sure it would've sold to a lot more people that just wanted to try it before buying it.
Tried it, and it's pretty good, but holy shit how the hell do people aim? The controls are pretty fuckin bad, in normal flight mode you're not guiding the plane, you're kind of making turning suggestions, the plane's got a damn mind of its own. In advanced, where you actually get full control of the plane, there's mouse acceleration out the ass. The controls need to be addressed ASAP. And they need to add some different music too! It's already on my nerves. [editline]09:20PM[/editline] Automerge, it is broken?

Look in the settings and uncheck it, it'll do wonders. Also, what's this about "normal" and "advanced" flight? I never encountered a setting for that. Are we talking about the same game? Also, is there any way to customize the paint job on your plane? Because in that video in the OP, it seems like there are paint jobs on planes that I haven't seen before.
"Advanced Flight Mode" in other settings.
This game won't launch for some reason. :(
the game isnt launching, any help? Sorry for bump.
