one of the things I don't like about this game is that if you spot a discrepancy it's more efficient just to deny the person immediately rather than highlighting it. it feels a bit strange
Not all discrepancies should be immediately denied however. If you question them, especially as the game goes on, they can actually offer additional information or options for handling the situation, such as getting a fingerprint test to prove who someone is or detaining them or whatever.

Don't forget that one guy early on who forgets to give you their entry ticket.

that's true for a lot of types of discrepancies, but ones like invalid expiration dates can always be immediately denied
that's true for a lot of types of discrepancies, but ones like invalid expiration dates can always be immediately denied
Presumably, in the future, you'll have people who have given you the wrong passport or entry permit and will give you the correct one, similar to how the people who give the wrong duration of stay can change what they said to match what the paper says and then be let in.
I love this game already, but something odd happened.
[sp]You know the stripper who wants to get in, and says that the bad dude in the line behind her wants to get in and steal her passport? I denied that guy entry, and everyone in the club died in the news! What happened?[/sp]

I'm pretty sure you were supposed to detain that guy, instead of just denying him.
What do i do with the guy who won't give me his paper? He just stands there.

Read any page of this thread, the in-game tutorial you get everyday or the citation you get 10 seconds after the guy comes in.
I got it, a simple 'Use the investigation tool' would have worked. <3 you facepunch.
A game about carefully reading documents and you failed to carefully read the first one.
The sound effects in this game are perfect. They're easy enough to identify without getting annoying after hearing them over and over.
I am improving in this game, I am averaging 11 people put through with no penalties now.
But them goddamn invalid issuing cities.
I have never fucked up on anything as many times as I have fucked up on invalid expiration dates.
I feel like I'd be good at this because of my job :v:
I have to check people's ID's and expiration dates all the time

I totally profile people in this game.
Look like a terrorist? Have a strange name? Kolechian? I'm looking up your city.
Is there any time I shouldn't detain someone and rather just send them away with a denial?
Is there any time I shouldn't detain someone and rather just send them away with a denial?
Well, detaining someone takes longer than denying them and there doesn't appear to be any sort of effect whether you detain them or not.

you should only be detaining people with purple passports

I've decided to just write down all the cities, much quicker

Imagine some sort of mod or sequel where it's 10 or more years into the future and you have all this digital information from FBI-esque databases and/or social nets.
Would be nice to have a CRT monitor somewhere on the screen where you could manually type command to request info from databses. Maybe if this was a more strict border? Or for special cases? I mean, replacing paperwork with CRT and a keyboard would remove half the game, but I still would like to have access to it to have that 'superseekreet database access' thing.
I just keep the rule book open to the Regional Map and click on whatever country they are from and check against that. But at this point, I've started to remember them as well, and some obviously come from certain regions.

A decade of Kolechian hatred
Dear god
I have played this game. It is enjoyable. Glory to Arstotzka.
Started playing, I'm on Day 3.
Some guy walked up to my booth. I asked him for papers, he started talking about glory to our nation, and never gave me any papers. So he's just sitting there, but I have nothing to approve or deny. I got a notice that said to work faster, but I can't shoo him away! What do I do? Is this a glitch, or is there some kind of trap-door button I can't see?

Read the entire pamphlet you got at the beginning of that day.
Honestly, that video a couple pages back really does need to be in the OP. Like, first thing at the top of the page.

Maybe when I can get to my computer
This game is consuming me.
I've started stamping "DENIED" stamps all over passports that have false info.
And the game didn't tell me to.
I'm becoming a bureaucrat.
I really wish I could drag around the stamp instead of dragging the passport around and aligning it. The game just begs for just grabbing the stamp and smashing big fat DENIED in the passport, or accurately aligned GRANTED in the square. Alternatively, I would so like to stamp fake passports with DENIED all over it. Doing it the current way just doesn't cut it.
Unfortunately, I think the developer said he wanted that but some technical thing prevented him from doing it.
The main thing i fail on is gender :/
