So on Day 3 I've got a guy who's got no documents and says "Hail to Arstotzka!" and that's it, I just don't know what to do with him.

Pick up the rule book and inspect the rule about needing a passport and the desk it is supposed to be on.

[sp]bring out the rule book, click investigate, then click on the rule about needing a passport, then click on the desk in front of the guy[/sp]
"That's fine. You are doing a good job, keep it up."
or something like that
what an adorable guy in such an awful world
I'm a little worried if you search him he's going to be covered in knives or something.
[editline]18th April 2013[/editline]
Not even guns or explosives, just knives.
I actually freaked out the first time I met that guy. I mean he just walks up to the desk saying "ok, here we go" for then to call out "Hail to Arstotzka!" I thought he was a Jihadist for his country and the game would give me 10 seconds to deal with it, so I instantly closed the window thing for then to get a message asking me if I understood how to do my job correctly.
I guess yesterday's [sp]terrorist attack[/sp] got me startled.
I seriously want the main menu music. I keep saying it but that is one of the best main menus ever.
Ohh shit, I found it just sitting in the assets folder. I figured it would be all packed up in a file that I'd have no idea how to uncompress or something.

I am visiting for 8 weeks.
I wish the people at the DMV could get citations for not handling people fast enough
I remember playing his previous game The Republia Times a year ago, was actually surprised to find out that he made it when I saw it on the main site. I recommend you guys to check it out too. You're an editor for a newspaper company in an equally dystopian country (Republia which also appears in Papers, Please too), got a family to feed and protect, and has plenty of interesting twists to spice up the monotony. Has the same writing style and frantic distressing gameplay.
I hope you're all voting this up on greenlight
After having a really easy playthrough and then coming to this thread and hearing about all your struggles, I think I should apply for a job at customs or something.
This, and Aurora Wager, are my favorite upcoming indie games. Both full of potential.

My problem was mostly just not working fast enough to get a high income each day. My second playthrough though and I've got enough to keep everything going and have enough left over for savings.

Man, I wish for a whole set of pseudosimulators set in that universe. It's suprisingly fun.
Pretty damn good. Also got my easternized name in.
Man, I wish for a whole set of pseudosimulators set in that universe. It's suprisingly fun.
He's slowly building up a pretty decent lore for it, I wouldn't be surprised to see more set in the same universe.
The way the interactivity is done in this game is beautiful. I think that's what makes this so damn fun.
It's like surgeon simulator with paperwork.
there are no words
this game is phenomenal
I don't know if I was just not looking hard enough in my rush, but I can hardly tell when someone is smuggling anything. They don't look any different to me.

deny them when in doubt
I really hope later on, he makes it so you can go around the town after your shift is over and talk to your family and go to stores and what not.
I wish he'd add an endless mode. I'm no game dev, but I don't think it'd be that hard to do.

You're flipping the photo right? I figured if you search someone and they're carrying contraband it's pretty easy to see.

I think a great ending would be you're forced to flee to Konechia but you get refused because you didn't buy one of the new Immigration Permits that were only issued the day before.
Then you get a great big REJECTED stamp

My automerge has been denied access to the country
I don't remember the last time I've seen such universal praise for an indie game.
Of course, the game IS free for the moment being and what we have right now IS pretty damn amazing.
[editline]18th April 2013[/editline]
The intro music is pretty damn mesmerizing.
GLORY TO ARSTOTZKA!
Oops.
Love this game. Although now there's so many papers to go through I'm getting kind of slow for checking EVERYTHING to make sure it all matches, and I'm starting to choose between heat and food for my family.
I can't get enough
The mission where you have to perform mandatory searches of Konechians makes things a little easier due to how long the search animation is. You can use that to continue checking over the paperwork.
The hell
I get up to the point where Counterfeit documents become "popular" but no matter how hard I inspect some documents, I still get a violation. The seals check out, dates ring true, and numbers match. What am I missing?!
