but thats cheating :<
It is Arstotzkan ingenuity [editline]21st April 2013[/editline] If you want to be bellyaching luddite go back to Kolechia
I mean, if you just wanna use the discrepancy tool on everything it defeats the whole concept of the game
Yeah, I just generally use it to save time when things are getting really hectic. While the tool is scanning it I'm generally checking other stuff like name, passport number, sex, that sort of thing. Things I usually miss. I'm really bad for not noticing documental seals so I tend to look at those during animations as well.
I should start using it to check the city names because I don't think I've ever figured out how to work that one out. I haven't let in too many transvestites but how the hell am I supposed to know if a location exists in a fictional world?

It is the truest form of patriotism to perform your duty Flawlessly.

There are only a few cities that are able to issue passports in each nation. If their passport isn't issued in one of those cities, it's fake.
I mean, if you just wanna use the discrepancy tool on everything it defeats the whole concept of the game
you need to do it to detain forgerers.
I'd love to see a Half-Life version where you accept citizens at the train station from different Cities.
I'm going to guess the murderer is replaced by Gordon Freeman.
Anyone?
wow glorious arstotzka has literally nothing to do with russians or dancing
Dancing is waste of time, true Arstotzkan spends time working for glory of Arstotzka.
I work hard for Arstotzka. Dancers do not work hard, they waste their lives on activities which amount to nothing. Arstotska only deserves the best workers within it, these people would never be allowed inside the country. Glory to Arstotzka.

I like how I've been playing this game so long that I now remember each city in every country it saves a lot of time in the last few days
The girl is manlier than the boy is.
He shall grow strong and hardy like Arstotzkan turnip eventually.
Is there some element of randomness in it? Seems to me like all the key events are the same so is it worth replaying? Just completed my first run through in an hour with no one dead, was good fun.
Had a guy that said he was going to be here for 6 months when his permit said 12 days, quizzed it on here and he corrected himself, I rejected it on the grounds that he was potentially going to overstay but got told off for it fFF
No matter what I do my family will always be sick, cold, and hungry...
No matter what I do my family will always be sick, cold, and hungry...
Well, maybe work more efficient and earn money? We don't need lazy people in Arstotzka!
/v/ is making a mod for this game - Arstotzka has been replaced with 4chan, and the different areas are now 9gag, SomethingAwful, FunnyJunk, reddit, and... Facepunch‽ download link
I can't believe how good this game is. I hope to see more of the same universe! 'Go back to Kolechia! Scum!'
Dunno if it was posted before...but... I've decided to check out some thread on a diff forum, where dev of this (dukope) is responding to the community. (link to the topic http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=29750.0) This is what I've found after going through last few pages:

Just played your beta of your game. I liked it a lot. I hope you will seriously consider your thoughts (quotes above) and adding a MP component to your game....Granted this could get quite complicated. Anyway Ideas a free.
Thanks, and yes. I'm still thinking about a multiplayer side to this, but definitely not for the first release.

Sniping (Ignore the double cursor. My only LICEcap complaint) [t]http://i.imgur.com/gYlpbIg.gif[/t] I wrestled for a while with how to handle the sniping. There were a brief few microseconds when I thought to cut it. Those moments passed without incident and now we're left with this. The Problem The problem is that sniping with a mouse is way too easy. Previously I suggested it might change from a cross-hair to an aim-line or some other silly thing to increase the difficulty. Obviously that's a terrible idea but I still wanted to make it harder. Sorted It So this is my solution. The sniping is still easy. What's hard is getting the gun. It's not just about moving your cursor up to the top any more. You have to be fast. In order to access a gun, you first need a key. You'll get these through the course of the story. Once you've got a key, it sits on your desk wherever you put it, buried under the papers, unused. When the moment strikes, you'll need to find the key on your desk, unlock the gun drawer using the key, select the gun, then shoot the runner/trespasser/enemy. If it sounds like a pain in the ass that's because it is. It uses the same standard interface of paper shuffling and drag and drop, but with an extreme time limit. The level of panic is just right. By the time you get the gun out, there's only a second or two to aim and shoot before the grenade is thrown. Armaments There'll be just two guns, unlocked as the game progresses: Tranquilizer rifle 3 rounds less precise aiming non-lethal drop in one hit (death animation above is wrong, it'll be bloodless) Sniper rifle 2 rounds precise reticule kills in one hit (bloody) The tranquilize gun comes first so you'll always have the option for non-lethal force.
Or someone starts shooting in the crowds and you have to decide weither to shoot to kill or not

one of the things I don't like about this game is that if you spot a discrepancy it's more efficient just to deny the person immediately rather than highlighting it. it feels a bit strange
one of the things I don't like about this game is that if you spot a discrepancy it's more efficient just to deny the person immediately rather than highlighting it. it feels a bit strange
That could be remedied by having increased payouts for handling discrepancies correctly rather than quickly.
