No, buying the game on Xbox Live is just so no can whine about piracy. You'd dowload Ikaruga Gamecube from your favorite torrent site and play it through the Gamecube emulator Dolphin.
I don't get it. Would a game bought on XBL be an iso you could put on your PC to play on an emulator?
I believe he's trying to say to buy it on XBL so you own a legal copy and then to pirate the GC version and emulate that. He thinks the legal XBL copy will cancel out the pirated GC copy. [editline]02:17AM[/editline]
No, buying the game on Xbox Live is just so no can whine about piracy.
Don't work that way bro.

If you own the game, no one cares how you play it. [editline]09:19AM[/editline]
That doesn't sound legal :/
It's not Illegal. [editline]09:21AM[/editline] If you care at all about developers and getting what they deserve you'd do that because they won't get any money at all if you buy it off of Amazon.
It's not Illegal.
Yes it is. You're buying one copy and stealing another copy. Your legitimate purchase doesn't cancel out the theft. If you walked into a 7-11 and bought a Snickers and then took a second Snickers and stuffed it in your pocket without paying the clerk would call the cops and have you arrested for stealing.
You're not stealing anything. [editline]09:24AM[/editline] Anyway, I'm done talking about Piracy. Morally and fiscally, my method would be the right way to go.
I'd rather fork out 40€ for a used copy than to buy it for a platform I don't even own.

[editline]02:28AM[/editline]
I'd rather fork out 40€ for a used copy than to buy it for a platform I don't even own.
This too.
Holy shit I just found a guy on tradera (ebay in sweden) who sells the DC version for 160€ O_O
I'd rather fork out 40€ for a used copy than to buy it for a platform I don't even own.
Yeah, I was thinking this. It isn't really something I'd do but it is an option.
Yeah, I was thinking this. It isn't really something I'd do but it is an option.
Plus when I tried running Mario Sunshine on Dolphin to check if it worked it ran like shit anyway :v:
Yeah, it takes fiddling.
It isn't. The 360 is what most SHMUP developers have pledged to for whatever reason.
Huh, odd. Well, glad I have a 360 then. [editline]12th October 2010[/editline]
Definitely one of the best shmup/bullet hell game around. I still got my GC and DC versions and still play it often and even got the Dot Eater ranking. Also Butsutekkai is still one awesome theme. Before I start I just want to say I hate all of you. You're all having an argument over a stupid ass acronym that does not need to be discussed at all. Please for the love of god get this thread back on topic so I can answer some questions or whatever.
Did you enjoy the time you spent on this game?
About 95% of the time I could say I was enjoying myself. Every time I played I did at least one part of the game better than I did the last. The game as a whole is fun in general and I can appriciate the great level design that went into it and that just makes me like it more. I can honestly say Ikaruga is one of the games I can say is perfect. There is nothing more it needs to be better, and there is nothing that needs to be taken away to be made better. It's straight up perfect. As for that 5%, there were a few times where I just had a bad day. Somehow I would just be making too many mistakes and I lost earlier than I should. But even then, I was only angry at myself, not the game. I knew it was my fault because the game did nothing different. I only had myself to blame and I had no choice but to keep practicing. There were also some times where I would get far and do everything prior perfect, and then like get to the final boss and suddenly lose all my lives. Again, I was angry, but only at myself. That's what shows the game is a real challenge, when you're mad at yourself and not the game. In no way would I ask for any of the time I spent with the game back.

Morally and fiscally, my method would be the right way to go.
That's blatant piracy. If I buy Doom on the XBLA, it doesn't mean I can freely download the PC version, which has all the extra downloadable content(WADs), for free. Also, even if the alternate version doesn't have any extra/less features, it would still be considered piracy since it's on a different platform. On topic, the OP's story reminds me of Stepmania. When I first started out, I was only using one hand with the d-pad, playing very easy songs. After about 9 months of playing everyday, I was using two hands and played split(I think). I did end up becoming very good at the game, even though at the very beginning of me playing, watching my friend do really insane songs seemed impossible.
My copy just came in the mail today and holy fuck is it hard! It's way harder than I expected, I guess I'm too used to Touhou's gameplay.:v:
